@@zhenos-ag7501 how do you forget the fingerings???
rich 88527 I’ve gotta solo comp
rich 88527 he means that he forget the order they come in. Also great ways to get it memorized is scale in thirds
BTW you videos are so helpful, but did you say "Crab method"? When I google it to better understand it, nothing comes out. Is this the way to spell it?
Hey buddy! Yes I did! I don't think it's written in any method books, it's just something I learnt when I was studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. It was required in their technical exams and they called it crab scales. Basically how it works is, you take a major or minor scale, go up the octave and then come down in a scale which is semi tone higher, then go up again in a scale which is another semi tone higher and continue up until you reach the same scale you started on just on octave higher. Hope that makes sense my friend!
Crystal clear! Thanks for taking time to answer individual questions and make this series for amateurs who try to learn a brass instrument . We really appreciate this.
Sure thing brother!
this helped me a lot. thanks
Glad it helped!
Would it be better to learn scales going up from lowest to highest pitch or going around the circle of the fiths ?
Great stuff thanks!
Thanks a lot! :)
do you have recomendation for euphonium under $1000 ?
Hello Yuuki. The best option would probably be Schiller Elite Compensating euphonium. It's around $900. My most honest suggestion would be to save up another $500 and get JP274 Compensating Euphonium. Those I've tested myself, they are really good. Otherwise go with Schiller. If you ever decide to get a JP, let me know and I might be able to work you out a discount. Hopefully that helps!
ok thanks, and do you have recommend music for practice (for beginner) ?
No problem! How long have you been playing for?
i just want to start
My suggestion would be to get some pop tunes you already know from websites such as www.musicnotes.com. If you're a beginner, they will be fun to practice and relatively easy to learn. You could always play them with backing tracks which is also a lot of fun. For your technique development, get an Arban Method Book. If you can't get a hold of hard copy I'll put a link to where you can download it from.

You can find some simple tunes there as well. Once you get a bit more advance, then you can start looking for some piece from classical euphonium repertoire. Best of luck and let me know if there is anything else I could help you out with!
It looks to me like this is aimed primaraly at more advanced students. I'm still trying to learn the "peoples" keyes of C,F,G and maybe Bb and D. You know, the ones with 2 or less sharps and flats. As in the KISS principle. Keep it Simple Stupid. Nevertheless, if I live long enough I'll surely want to learn them all and this looks like a good way to do it. Your videos are fun to watch even when they are obviosly over my head. Its inpirational just to see how a pro does it. Thanks.
Thank you Frank for kind words as always. I remember when I was a kid as soon as I would see someone play some cool tune or technique I used to grab my horn straight away and try to replicate it. Sometimes successful sometimes not so much :D Either way, hope it does work as a motivation for younger peeps and as valuable tool for more advanced players. Glad you liked and I really appreciate you saying some nice words. Thank you my friend!
You do have to know scales to get important roles, auditions, schools, etc.
Crab Metal! I think you're onto something! :-)
Haha, maybe, sometimes I surprise myself :D
can i be able to get warming up routines to improve my tone

Scales
In band we play concert b flat major scalt
Then Concert F
Then Concert F
We do Bb, Eb, F, C, Ab.
We do F, Ab, Bb, Eb, and F
We do all of them (high school lessgo)
why do you use that "hand strap?" what is it??
3 years late but it simply makes it easier for the left hand to support the weight of the instrument and keep it in the right orientation
Can I get a music score for the intro pls
only scale I really practice daily is the Bb scale
I just wanna know how to play an e natural
What is the make and model of your horn. I am (or, was) a tuba player, but considering getting a euphonium. Also, what is that hand wrap? First time to see that. Thanks!
The euph is Sterling Virtuoso and regarding the hand wrap check the link below buddy!

Hmmm. I thought i had a 3/4 3 valve tuba. But now i think i had an oversized euphonium. What do i have? It's been 30 years and i feel i was duped into trying to keep up with the orchestra with the wrong sheet music. Mine looks similar but seems a little larger. 30 years later i pick it up and am trying to work out why it never sounder right. I always blamed it on perhaps not having the correct mouthpiece but now i'm thinking it was a combination of misinformation and the rest. lol. Anyone want to swap for a tuba? It was my wish at 6 yrs old and now i feel robbed of my wish. lol
Tuba
there are also smaller Tubas, that are not Bb, but Eb
Is there a certain reason that you move you face so much when your playing
I don't move the face, it's rather the jaw, it happens naturally to most people. But to answer the question, YES! To change the air direction a little bit, if you want to understand more about what I mean take a look at the link below and you'll understand. Hope that answers the question.
