I love how everyone is pinching themselves that they can't believe they're playing with the great Leland Sklar. And btw, he seems pretty happy with the quality of the musicians around him, too. Kudos all around for this fantastic cover.
@@corentillywesterman Thank you for sharing that! I appreciate it. Yes, you can read it in his face and body language. Trance groove. You're doing something very right when Leland Sklar digs it.
Good to see that a 60+ year old bass with flats wasn’t needed to make this sound funky. Just an absolute legend , a forefather , a pillar of the instrument Leland sklar can make it happen
Sklar could do it on anything, but the Dingwall basses are killer tools in anyone's hands now as well. Love that we're all breaking out of the old expectations!
I've seen Rick Wakefield perform (Life on Mars, etc.) and he's so deeply past any technical barriers, that his playing was otherworldly while he was Buddha-like in detached bliss.

performance, production and mixing aside, the arrangements on these covers are amazing! Not a single thing feels out of place or forced! Everyting just runs like a well-oiled machine
I believe this arrangement is to a large extent Stacey’s ideas (correct me if I’m wrong), but you can check out her acoustic version which came out b4 this and there’s a lot of ideas that are taken from there. Of course I definitely believe that scary pockets had a big input in the arrangement but it feels like the “backbone” or “dna” is Stacey’s

OK, wanna know what a musical MASTERPIECE sounds like? THIS is it. WOW! Just love this.
Ryan's body is wanting to throw some moves down to this masterpiece but it remembers it also has to contribute those gorgeous guitar vibes. Brilliant performance all round and this makes it into my Pockets Playlist

Excellent, really inspiring. Her voice has this clean, natural relatability yet it’s so spot on in terms of pitch and tone, clarity and pop. Want to be able to sing like her
Just found these videos a couple of weeks ago and have been listening through the catalogue since. The standard of musicians and singers is incredible and some of the guest appearances ? Holy shit! Leland Solar, Joe Bonamassa ......it's impossible to pick a favourite tune. Excellent work Scary Pockets.
Playing this on repeat for several days. I listen to one instrument every time and I love it when I get to listen not just to the vocals but how each musician contributed to this song. I love Stacey Ryan's voice!
There are millions of bass players who are exhibitionists and make it seem like the bass is a formula 1 car and they are the drivers, it's cool for those looking for that kind of exhibitionism, but if you want to hear a bass sound that gets into your heart and it touches your soul, just listen to something recorded by Leland Sklar, because in this sense there is no one like him in the world! He is the inspiration for all bass players who want to play with class and feeling.

The lick Leland throws in at 1:49 and the reaction from Ryan was so natural!
