The visceral, throbbing, twisting, pulsing, screaming, squawking and tumultuos sound he exorcised from the Buchla was initially shocking to this young listener but, nonethless, an experience that led to a greater understanding that the definition of "music" extended far beyond bars, beats, measures, keys, chords, verse, chorus and lyrics.
