Good advice Simon, thanks. Innominate Tarn btw is the location of Wainwright’s ashes. Fantastic spot for a wild camp and a trip up Haystacks. Can get busy though.
Agree with everything you said. I found wild camping i naturally was closing my eyes at 8pm and waking around 5 ish ready to leave at 7. Vaseline yes. Clean socks yes. The Mental thing is so important. I had to be my own cheerleader and not be too down on myself sometimes. The conversations in the hills as well as the hills were my highlight. I took my packing light a little too far in retrospect as i never had a warm nights sleep. Good tips !!! PS I didnt take a smart phone or gps and had to refresh my map/compass skills from the start. Sometimes i wished i did have gps especially going through farmland. I bough a nokia 800 instead for basic whatsapp but importantly long battery life so that i wasnt trying to charge up devices all the time
Doing this in a few weeks and my aim is 12 days as want to enjoy it as a break rather than physical challenge. I walk long distances in my job everyday so used that side of things plus done plenty of multiple day camps. Looking forward to it. Will be mostly wild camping. Definitely no B&Bs as they are closed.
Having a fun few hours going through your videos Simon-love them! I really want to do the C2C as soon as poss so I’ll be watching those videos later 😍 You did brilliantly getting it done in 9 days and WOW your pack weight!! No idea how you kept it down like when when lugging around recording stuff etc. Fab-well done you! 🙌🌟
Thanks Kaz, really appreciate you taking time to watch. I hope you had a good run the other day with the new Asics. I'm hopefully running myself again soon and I took the bike for a spin yesterday. You should def give the C2C a go, it's well worth it. Take care, Simon
Enjoyed watching your trip and appreciated your positive outlook throughout the entire experience. Well done. I’m booked in to doing this walk in just over two weeks time. Did you have to book any campsites in advance or simply call up on the day? Also, how much food did you take with you, I’m assuming around three days worth of food and then re-supplying?
Very sound advice on all points Simon. You achieved your goals. That will always be a feather in your cap. . My own aims would be very different, as I'm more of a lazy contemplative soul. Also, being an old fart. Trying not too die in the attempt would be top of my list. Lol. Oh to be young again !!
@@SimonOutdoors . . Ahh that's great Simon. . You enjoy yourself my friend. . Meanwhile, I will just pass on the coordinates of your hill too my artilery boys, and see if they can warm you up a bit. . Have fun lol X
It took me 16 days, loved every step of the way, though the only thing i will say is that i never seen it as a challenge, it was just a lovely long walk.
@@SimonOutdoors if you don't mind me saying Simon, there's a " grapevine" on the way, so usually walkers know where others are, so if anyone is a bit worried, we usually try and figure something out. Well done Simon, a short walk for a lifetime of memories.
Thanks for these tips. I plan on using campsites a few times here and there but I really want to wild camping wherever possible, as nothing beats that feeling… By the way, looks like we’re neighbours more or less. Recognise all those places in the opening shots!
@@carlharpin2877 make sure you train for it and have good map reading skills Carl, the route isn’t all that well sign posted. Plenty of hikes on hills and squats etc. Good luck mate 👍🏻
Love your advice

Thanks mate, I agree. Navigation was one of the biggest challenges for me on this one. Really appreciate you watching and taking time to comment

@@SimonOutdoors Thanks for that Simon.
take your time, in the lakes and do some of the high options, you can make up some time across some of the less interesting parts , if you want to
Good shout mate, I would do this in retrospect
Great tips. Very helpful thanks Simon. Good idea viewing it as a 'work day'. I like that. How long did you stop for lunch, breaks etc in a given day?
