Flail Mower or Rotary Mower?

In this video I compare an older ford 907 flail mower to my ford 940 rotary mower on tall grass. The results surprised me a bit. What do you think? Enjoy!

Pat's quick hitch is a great alternative to the full arch quick hitches. It works on all widths and top pin setups. You don't have to modify any of your implements. Makes that once in while borrowing of different implements much easier! I've had it on 2 different tractors and it's great.

I have a newer flail mower and can offer a few suggestions. One, make sure you have all the blades intact; a quick glance and I thought I saw 1 missing as you spun the drum. Two, increase your top link length and it will give you a little more height when your finished mowing. The rear drum should just be riding lightly on the ground, you may need to adjust your 3 point up/down at first to get it right.
I use my flail mower as my finish mower for 2.5 acres and it leaves nice stripes like a good Zturn.

A day after posting this video I went out and messed around with the mower a bit. A few adjustments and it cuts better than I expected. All the flails there. Another video will be coming in the following weeks.

I just picked up a 917 and did notice a lot of bogging I don't normally have so much with the bush hog. I have the same blades as you, but mine are really worn out. I'm going to put all new of the dual swing knife blades as that seems to be the most popular setup for what I'm looking for.

If you have that heavy rubber along the back it works better with that gone.

Take the rubber off the back and it shouldnt bog from mulching the already cut grass
