Im 14 and have recently started DMing in school for some of my friend s who thought d&d was ‘not cool’ and ‘’sad’ but I got the school librarian to order the starter set for us and we play once a week on a Wednesday afternoon. Also really enjoyed the review and think that mad mage would be a great adventure for my players after they finish lost mines of phandlever

Cool! I hope you're able to show your friends how awesome D&D can be! Phandelver is a great adventure to start with, too. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions about DMing (that's exactly why I do this channel--to help DMs!). I have a Discord server with other DMs dedicated to helping each other out if you're interested, too: discord.gg/Msat4NB

I'm going to thank my DM, Joe. He was the person who pulled me out of a decade worth of fear of judgement and failure in order to join my first campaign. I was so afraid of joining a D&D campaign that it took me over a decade to even purchase the handbook. Joe (and the other members) let me sit in on an online campaign to break the ice and after that evening he asked "So, you're joining us next time, right?" and he helped me to do so.

    • @theDMLair

Joe sounds like a truly awesome man. So cool he did all that to help you out! I'm really happy to hear he was able to help you like that! Stuff like that is what makes our D&D community so awesome. Seriously.

So, my group is very new to D&D. We have all played once before, but we've never had to sit and research our own characters (our DM's did that) and we've never had to research rules and spell slots. Well all 5 of us are learning together which is amazing, but for my nice thing I want to send an appreciation gift to my old DM for always making my characters and letting me play simply for the fun of it not the technical part. It started my love for the game and now I have a group willing to learn and play because of him! #shoutouttobenthedm!

I've scheduled a session for a group of complete newcomers to D&D who have always been interested in playing, but never knew how to get started. It’s my little way of giving back to the D&D community: offering a table and my newfound experience as a Dungeon Master to beginning players, and hopefully fostering an appreciation of the hobby!

    • @theDMLair
      @theDMLair  5 років тому

I am setting up yet another D&D game during lunch times at the school I teach at. The students all have ASD and often struggle with social interactions, D&D provides a structure to help them interact with each other in a positive way and helps them something to look forward too each week. When this new group starts I will be running 4 D&D lunch time clubs in school

Hi Luke! One positive thing I can do for the D&D community is remind both players and DMs that communication is key to any group’s success. It’s much easier to pull someone aside and talk with them one-on-one than let situations and tensions build up. Following that could not only save your party, but keep friendships solid 🙂

I have been running DnD games for close to 30 years on and off. I started with a few friends back in 83ish and just kept my playing. But this week my son ask me to help him and his friends play, and he wants me to help him DM!!! I’m so excited to tell that we are about 3/4 done with dragon heist and he’s doing wonderful! So if I get lucky, this would really be for him and me both! Father and son DMing together!

I plan on always striving to be a diplomatic voice in the D&D community. It can be easy to hate on what we might not do or allow ourselves as players and DMs, but as much as possible, trying to keep a balanced perspective and remembering the heart of the game, why we love to play, is what I always try to go back to and what I want to encourage others to do.

It's my new obsession, I love playing with new people and even get surprised when they remember rules better than I do. Oh, and we constantly buy dice and show them off. We even have a 3.5 vs 5e insider jokes. I love that this is in my life now.

I didn't have anyone to introduce me to d&d till recently. I had thought it was too nerdy, and it would not be my type of game. It took my friends convincing me to at least watch a game last year for me to get my start. Since then, it was been a huge part of my life, helping me through some tough times, and helping me make friends that I would not have found otherwise. I want to be able to "give" the experience of this game to more people who haven't gotten to try it yet. It greatly improved my life, so I figure that it might do that with other people's lives too

A friend of mine and myself, are working on creating a community in our small town, that will allow D&D players and DMs eaisly find groups, pick up adventures and set up their own worlds. We've already planned a number of workshops for both DMs and players to help those who want that. As for the format of play, we're going to do a West Marches style games - the players will choose adventures they'll be going on, they'll choose whom they'll be going with and when.

Run a one shot that will end in the players rescuing santa. Santa will grant them one of the presents he has on him. Whatever each player chooses is what they get in real life. I've been playing with the same group for 2 years now and still being in school each session has had us talking for the whole week. I'm glad to have been nominated the perma-dm for these guys and it's going to be great giving them something as thanks for sticking around.

I'm definetly gonna gift this to my DM so he doesn't have to buy it himself! He'll be so excited. We try to make our table as exciting as possible with props, painted minis and custom maps to bring in the attention at our local gameshop.

At my table, I'm crafting custom terrain/set-pieces for each of my players' characters, as our two-year campaign comes to an end. In the community, I run easy D&D sessions for kids at my synagogue to help them exercise their imaginations and learn probelm-solving and team work.

I have always had an issue with finding someone to run a game. So i taught myself how to DM, I am constantly trying to get me people into d&d and encouraging them to learn how to run their own games so they can start their own groups and enjoy their own fantasies in however they can.

I just ran DnD for my mom who really wanted to learn. I suggested other simpler table top rpg’s but she was set on DnD so I scrounged up some of my family to play with us so she could learn. The campaign is going great so far.

I've been looking to get my old gaming group back together and playing again. We've always been Pathfinder players, but I've been looking into 5e recently and was hoping to play through Dungeon of the Mad Mage to convert everyone and get us started again. I also just recently found Hero Forge and was thinking I would make a late Xhristmas present out of custom minis for everyone in our campaign.

I'm hoping to start an on going with waterdeep dragon heist so dungeon of the mad mage would help me to add a lot of lore and extra detail to this campaign. Thanks!

I have begun running my first ever game of dnd for my mother and our very lonely, very elderly neighbor Jean. Shes getting to be a dragon born Paladino's with all the strength and capabilities shes never had, and shes gaining friends through the community. My whole goal was simply to improve her quality of life in her few remaining years, and while that isnt much for the /community/ per se, it's the world to her.

The positive thing I plan to do more and have already done is to welcome a bunch of new people to the amazing world that is DnD. For example I recently welcome a really good friend of mine to play in my first DMing session and it went pretty spectacular and she loved every bit of the experience! I also plan to get my regular DM a really dope set of dice cos he’s been a great one for the 3 years we’ve been playing :)
