Put those citrus trees on a rolling platform during frosts to make it easier to roll inside. I'm in Cali, they die in freezing weather. 🍈🍊You've all done ALOT so far, great job!👍👍

Love seeing all the animal's having the best life and honouring the ones for food is what it's all about! At this stage for the new ducklings without a mother for oils, they shouldn't be in the water if it's cold, they do need water to eat though. Cheers

Love seeing the animals!! The ducks are darling- when you said runner ducks- I started singing sesame Street’s “ Rubber Ducky - you’re so fine. Rubber Ducky you’re all mine.” A tomato plant like the suckers pinched off & pinch the top off. That way they put down a good root system & they bush out. They will put more blossoms on the plant instead of getting tall & spindly. 💜

Looking good guys. The rabbit feeders hook to the outside of the cage. Cut an opening big enough for the feeder part to be inside the cage. Also rabbit poop can be used for fertilizer at anytime, no composting needed.

The chicks look good. ❤️🌱🐥. No traditional farmer uses a chicken tractor. Most mid century farm models keep the birds penned up. We started raising meat birds in tractors after reading Joel Salatin’s book from Polyface Farms about growing meat birds to sell. We have used chicken tractors since 1999 (Y2K). Way better for healthy birds and no disease issues.

Even though it's exciting to see the little citrus trees produce, you should pull off the fruit for now so the tree can put it's energy in growing strong and getting established

You can take those lower leaves off the tomatoes and plant them deeper… all the little hair along the stem can be roots if they make contact with the soil. That way they grow stouter and wind won’t bother them until they are staked. As the farm grows, the issues appear..it’s all part of farming! Oh what joy when it all works! Danielle is loving all of the little ones and farm life. Anxious to see when it’s time to prepare these food animals, that will either make you true homesteaders…or just lovers of livestock. Good luck!

You may have thought of it already, but go to you local restaurants and see if you can get their left overs for the pigs and birds, even check with you local grocery store for veggies and fruits. This will help with feed cost more than you think.

Back in the 80s my grandpa used to go collect all the left over fast food (burgers, fries, etc) from their dumpsters to feed to his pigs. They throw A LOT of things away. I doubt you could go do that now. Definitely have to ask. People probably thought he was weird and hungry. He was smart.

For that garden, why not build a wood frame to stand up against the metal siding. Attach the cattle panels to the wood frame and let it slant down to the front of the garden. You'll have to get some wire to enclose the ends. This will stop the dogs layng on it.

Try making a wet spot for the dogs to lay in. I had a heck of a time keeping Nikki out of my garden until I made her a wet spot and keep it wet for them. They will dig and lay there. You have enough chicks in there that they cuddle together at night and keep each other warm. I love the ducky.

Have y'all ever checked your water supply to see if it is potable, if it has and containments from living close to oil wells ? I sure wouldn't be using it for animals or for watering your garden! Also for your tomato plants since you have them close together if you have any cut off's from your cow panels you can use those for trellises and if you can obtain some used tires you could use those to plant potatoes! Keep up the good work!

With the rabbit you have to watch out for fire ants. Once you get the rabbit cage off the ground make trays to put under the cages. make them about 2" deep and add top soil in them. Than add about 2 dozen night crawlers they will help decompose the dropping and watch them multiple like crazy. Then you will be able sell the bait for fishing.

The plants should be fine. If we get anymore freezing weather put a tarp over top. Pull off in morning. Also just sprinkling straw or hay over top of that nice fence barrier will save plants too. Also your rabbits and chicks in shade are pretty important. I lost a bunny from just a short time in direct sun as I was cleaning cage. Keep plenty of fresh water and chick starter to chicks

Jared, Excellent idea to use the Cattle panel as a barrier to keep the animals out of the garden. Have you all looked into getting old vegetables from the grocery stores or farmer's market for the animals ? They would probably give them to you. My friend would pick up the vegetables from the grocery store and coffee grounds and old oil from restaurants. The coffee grounds she used for the garden and compost. The oil she burned for fuel. She purchased some heating system that uses recycled oil. She barely had to pay for any feed just treats for her animals. I thought it might be worth mentioning again now that you have this property and are raising animals again.
If it looks like you'll get another frost, you can always try covering the plants with buckets or cut gallon milk jugs to keep them warm.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.

Put a pan of water in side for them to swim in. Of course they huddle together, they're chilly. Use a heating pad to hide under. It is the warming tray where you put plants on. Heat lamps can cause fires. Enjoy. You're friends have many rabbits. Ask them for the names they raise. Maybe you could buy some from the couple.

Put some clear plastic the thicker stuff and keep it rolled up by the building on cold nights make a tent over plants make sure you water I'm good before it gets hot if you get the leaves wet and it gets hot that will damage the leaves try putting the tent 12 to 18 inches above the plant it could be that that's a really hot spot you might burn them up you might have to use that fabric I think it's called 50% shade for new seedlings

pick the leaves 3/4 the way up, leaving about the top 4- six leaves of your tomato plants & then sink the root ball & stem 3/4 deep. it will protect them from cold & wind. they will root like crazy all up the buried stem. this also helps strengthen the plant if it's leggy or crooked. a little food; liquid fish poop from Tractor Supply, (thinned down with water) swizzled in the bottom of the hole is a nice boost in our okie red dirt...

If you got jugs you can cut the bottoms out and set them over the top of the plants but there has to be a lid on the top or tape it. My dad had a 2 acre garden and he would plant after the Easter snap. Cover with plastic or cloth to protect it

Do you know of Hugel Kulture? Look it up and see if you can apply it there. It works well in raised beds also, watering troughs 2ft deep or wood sided beds.

Sorry about the garden. They’ll probably just take a little time to snap back. I’m sure it will all be ok. Wish I lived near you because I would bring you tons of plants that I start but Massachusetts to Oklahoma is a bit too far for that.

Good job saying Catossa right Jason! Congratulations! It was so funny when you all was calling the ducks chickens. I was going, ah guys those are ducks. LOL The plants will come back just cut off all the dead and keep them watered. The pigs have made themselves an awesome little place. All the animals look happy & healthy to me. Have an awesome evening. X's &

Try draping some clear plastic over them at night, and on cold days.
