I’m glad this particular comb wasn’t rusted. Just one wrong comb and the whole song will sound completely off. I remember the two snow globes you did, strawberry shortcake and the dog one and you had to replace completely different combs with those and they sounded completely weird. Thankfully, there’s a lot of places online where you can get special replacement combs that are for the particular song.
You are correct, if the comb is not an exact match it will sound weird. We have gotten lucky in several cases and found combs that were pretty close. We hadn't though about ordering a comb.
Thank you so much for doing this! I love Disney and I collected a lot of second hand snow globes and music boxes within this year, I love them all to pieces. In my eyes you guys are soooo lucky and I'm proud of you for fixing and over coming another problem. I'm also proud of you guys now becoming an expert in fixing and replacing music boxes. When I fixed my first one I was so happy and proud of myself also, it's a great feeling. I would also like to say this globe usually has the blue water and baby oil but honestly? I'm glad you put the blue glitter in instead, the baby oil is such a pain to work with (as you know). Take care and see you next video ♥ Edit: Forgot to say, the choice of glitter that Ally chose was awesome and I couldn't think of anything better ♥
Love this, the vendor is very dishonest, hope he gets what he deserves, however you got your money's worth in the end. Thanks for your time and patience.
That was a great fix and a beautiful globe. The placement of the price tag was not very honest. But you persevered. I am amazed that with all that glass no one got cut. At least I didn’t see any band aides. I love the blue glitter and stars. It’s a real treasure.
Great job with the repair. I didn't know there was something that could remove the epoxy without damaging the plastic. I need to pick up some. Those combs definitely have a sweet spot. Having the patience to find it is the hard part. Thanks.
Thank you. We didn't know that produce existed either. We just happened to come across it one day. Correct, if those combs are not adjusted correctly it will not sound right.
Turned out pretty good. Never exspect to got remembered about the Disney movie. It´s amazing how important the comb is. Wrong position and it sounds awful. Nice work, ecspecially with changeing the globe. Is it possible to see the globe in the dark? Maybe as a youtube short or as a picture in the community section. Would love to see it, when it glows in the dark. Thanks for the video. 👍
Hi. We have never used the Community section of the channels home page before. We had no idea what to use it for. We posted a picture of the globe in the dark with the light on in the Community section. Thanks for the suggestion. We may use it again.
@@snowgloberescue8887 okay. I quit procrastinating today and tore into my globe. Thanks for all your inspiration. It’s very similar to this design. I’m pretty sure I will be able to have it back together soon. I’m so excited to have it functioning again. Thanks again for all the videos and tips.
Nice job! That is a big snow globe, I'm surprised there isn't an impeller to move the glitter around, not sure if I would be happy to hoist that up and shake it. I always get the Sorcerer's Apprentice music mixed up with Dance Macabre lol. I thought those were brooms, I remembered 'brooms' coming to life but that was a long time ago so can't trust my memory on that.
Yes, for a globe like that you would think an impeller would have been used. Also, you are correct, those are brooms. I mentioned at the end of the video where we are talking about the finished globe that we watched the scene from the movie where this globes theme takes place. Not only are they brooms but they are bringing the water down the stairs instead of up as I thought.
Hello! I just bought this globe from the Lakeland Antique Mall for $150, not realizing the music and light are broke sadly I know I ripped off but my ? Is Do you do repairs for peoples snow globes? I would love to have my globe fixed. Thank You!
Hi. This quite a coincidence because we also bought this globe from the Lakeland Antique mall. We are not in a position to offer repair services at this time. We hope to change that in the near future. We may be able to provided advice and maybe point to a video that could help.
Hi, I just realized something about the hair dryer method- do you guys always make sure to take the figurine out first before hitting the base with a hairdryer to remove the globe? I think I’ve been making the mistake of blow drying the base with the figurine still inside, and it’s been forming paint bubbles in my figurines… either that or I just don’t notice that the figurine already had the bubbles?
Hi. We normally remove the stopper and figurine before removing the globe from the base. However, we normally do that so that the heat from the hair dryer isn't absorbed by the water in the globe, as well as not overheating the rubber stopper, and an empty globe is lighter and easier to handle. We don't believe that the hair dryer will cause the figurines paint to bubble. The heat shouldn't make it that far. We have had snow globe where the paint on the figurine was bubbling before we ever started working on it. Probably not the right paint for that application, or the paint didn't cure properly before being put in the water.
Not sure. For some reason we were under the impression that this one coming from the Disney store. We heard that Disney is not is not making these large globes anymore. We haven't verified that.
I have tried to get it to light up , put fresh batteries in it but it won’t light up can you tell me how to replace the bulb possibly in this? Thank you
Hi. The bulb goes through a hold in the center of stopper and is held in with some hot glue. You will need to heat up the hot glue to soften it so you can pull the bulb out of the stopper. You should be able to use a hair dryer to melt it. And, of course, you would just add hot glue to the opening once the new bulb is installed.
Thank you Missie as always. This one actually had blue glitter in it to begin with, however, another subscriber mentioned that she saw this same globe with blue baby oil in it. There may have been several versions.
