You're not crazy, you are lucky to find that car. Taking it apart reminds me of when I disassembled my $700 championship edition porsche 924. I love tearing cars apart to bring them back to life.
As a person that has restored a Porsche, this car was a steal at $500. I’ve never found anything that cheap. The tub on this car look great! You have very little rust! Amazing. Good luck to you.
The first car I had a title to, my very own, 1964 four door, painted Fleet Inventory bland Army Green was a Ford Falcon. Straight 6 and 3-on-the-tree tranny. Most dependable car ever I've owned, never left me stranded and sipped fuel if you wanted her to. I was 18 years old in 1975 when this became my very first, my very own car. Freedom!
Simple and raw footage, no "overenthusiastic" talking and reacting, no clickbaiting, everything on a budget.. I LOVE IT! So tired of seeing all of these overdone and expensive projects from the other bigger automotive youtubers..
This is a sincere compliment: The way you talk about the joy of wrenching and your love of the cars while you work reminds me of listening to Bob Ross talk about using the fan brush and some "titanium white" while making happy little clouds. Also, I can't wait to see her when she's finished.
There are people in this life, Michael, who just like talking. You are one of them. Not a criticism, there are channels out there where never a word is spoken. I tune out as soon as I realise that it's Harold Lloyd. I want to hear about what someone's doing and why they're doing it that way. Well done. Feel free to witter. (Does that word exist in American? It means shooting the breeze)... 👍
You’re definitely not CRAZY, you’re doing what a lot of people wish they had the time and know how to get it done, and on top of that you’re a regular guy with a family and job, who’s truly a backyard mechanic!!! Awesome stuff, maybe get a go fund me page going so that you get some of those stand up halogen lamps so you don’t have to worry about that damn fluorescent falling down on you some more!!!
Keep up the great work, it would be really cool to see this shell and panels get media blasted so you can bring it back as much as possible! $500 was a steal!
G'day from Sydney Australia. I'm really enjoying watching your project. Ignore the knockers, you're at least having a go. It's great that you're able to do this with your father. All the best Roland
It takes a lot of guts to take on such challenge of such a complicated and exotic car like a Porsche 911. I wish you all the luck and I will be following along. Bill
I had a 77 el camino a few years ago. Every where I went, someone walked up and wanted to tell me their el camino story memories. That’s the fun thing about these old cars.
Hi Buddy 🙌 Great video on the Porsche 911 😀 Love the honesty and the way your bringing us along the restoration of this Porsche project and not an air tool to bee seen. Cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
That passenger inner wing is really good. Can’t wait to see behind the door keepers and sill corners. The front end is really solid. Hope the rest is as solid. If so, that’s going to make a great project. Good on ya mate. Remember, brace up from the door keeper to the sill. Imperative you do that, otherwise, it will distort. Just tack in a box section length, 45deg and tack it in to place.
It's nice to see someone really showing their love of cars. Other youtubers are really just modifying nice cars or parts exchangers. Keep on busting knuckles
That’s pretty incredible that for $500 clams you have a 911 that’s in such decent condition! Folks have paid a heck of a lot more for 911’s in WAY worse shape than yours. Looking forward to the next videos!
You're doing a great job, i love it. I did a similar rebuild in the 70s converting a racing 911s to a road car, so really enjoying your vids. Unfortunately new Porsche oem parts are very expensive and could break your budget, but you are lucky to have lots of used parts specialists in the USA.... i found it good fun getting to know them all i my area. Peace🇬🇧🇬🇧
It's cool seeing how much your video editing skills have progressed over time! Looking forward to seeing the entire Porsche build series. This may be over 4 years old, but it's all new to me.
Keep on truckin !!, its good when you have these videos back to back ,so we can watch and follow to the end ,if not its real easy to loose track of your videos and start watching something else, keep up the good work ,hello from hudson valley New York !!
Great buying !! apart from the doors and front fenders it looks like an easy resto. In the UK in the 80's and 90's really rusty 911's were as cheap as chips but often needed things like the entire rear floor and suspension mounts replaced. And owners would get it done too. You need not worry too much with that shell I think .
Love your sense of optimism and positivity about a car that most others would see as an unsalvageable wreck. Keep going, can't wait to see this be transformed!
Really enjoying your style and the build. Very natural. Not perfect but it’s got charm and realism. It’s like the rest of us do it, knocking over our lamps and hurting the “things that squish when you hit” em... 🙂👍👍
Nice. I like these all in projects where you have to build the car all the way. Its a good way to update everything like brakes, interior, lights etc. Keep on going!
If the floor pans are in that good of shape you have a great foundation to work with. How many times that light hit you in the head? Keep up the good work!
I would not be afraid to do the bodywork myself if I was you. You have got a GREAT base for building a great little car. If you don't weld, now is the time to learn. You can practice on these hidden parts. The front fenders and hood are all repairable. If cannot find cheap replacements reuse these. Watch Scott of Coldwarmotors to see how to straighten metal. He is a master at it.
I follow many car channels on UA-cam, and most of them only put out click-bate, overproduced videos based solely on maximizing views. You have a sincere passion for cars and it's great to see the honesty and care you put into these cars. You definitely have a new subscriber from me, and I look forward to seeing more of your builds!
I like the oddballs as well. My two favorites that I have owned were a 79 Volare and 96 Roadmaster Custom Wagon. Both were called grandma cars by many people. The Volare had a 225, and the Roadmaster had an LT1. I loved surprising people when they tried to race me. I saved the Roadmaster off the scale at the salvage yard that I worked at and brought her back to life. I loved that car.
The mic itself isn't too bad, he should just put a compressor on and add some gain to it while editing the videos. Having a quick look at the audio levels, I'd say that after compression he should be able to add at least 12dB of gain, possibly more. Some compression tools might do this by default
You’re not just enjoying yourself but you’re also not out in a bar drinking yourself blind, you’re not trying to escape reality with drugs and you aren’t betting on dog fights. Your hobby is productive
You are doing just fine. Your Porsche project will be a good learning experience. Don't worry about the comments, just keep on doing what you're doing.
This would be a good one to modify. Actually priced some stuff on that car because I have always loved those 911s but always thought no way to get one. Congrats on finding one for 500 although as rough as it is. Still a wonderful save and worthwhile project. Love the original green.
I’m sure you have already, but just in case you haven’t, check out global Porsche parts.... they scrap all kinds of Porsches. not sure if Elliot can help but he’s got a nice Porsche farm in North GA. Big 944 guy. You can find his contact info on ATLs Craigslist! Keep up the great work! Loving it!
Save the Porsche! New subscriber here, life long Porsche fan. I'll be watching your project, your joy of what you do and your sharing - keep on, keeping on!
Loose Bolts I could but I wouldn’t really know where to start and it wouldn’t be very educational bc I’m not an expert in cars, the only reason I’m doing my project car is because I have experience in metal work and have been working on small engines for awhile
I'm rebuilding a vintage 69 Porsche 911s on my channel right now too. I've done a few of them, and have lots of resources if you need anything. Drop me a line if you get stuck!
Enjoying the videos a lot. I have always had a soft spot for Targas, and stayed away from Porsche due to $$$ so it is great you get to save this one. At some point I would think you have to move into a workshop or garage, not now to take it apart but for assembly. Keep up the good work and if you are having fun, so are we. :-)
You rebuilding an extreme track toy mate 😍 , have fun and careful when this thing ready , and you should take it to a race track it's crazy little beast
Best of luck with the restoration, enthusiasm will carry you through the lows. My only reservation would have been the missing interior parts. Most rebuild viewings start with asking is it complete. These can be unresonadly expensive depending on age specific model type etc.
Top build mate! the front suspension pan looks a bit rough but you can get a replacement for 200/300 quid which is well worth it because it usually is the worst weak spot for rust. Keep up the great content!
Michael there is no crazy in making a dream come to pas. I few years ago I bought a 1976 Fiat X19 for $300.00. It was no rust/ran and needed an engine overhaul and paint job. Sadly I had no time to restore it. I had big plans when I bought it on impulse. I gave it to a young kid and he and his dad are working on it. Someday I want to find another car of my dreams and make it happen. Keep up this endeavor for us dreamers!

Glad to see someone worshipping our old german metal and handling it gently ;)
Looking forward to see it finished.
Greetings from Germany.
😁😁 can’t wait to get it done!
Love watching you do it, thank you for reposting it. All the way from Cape Town, South Africa
So down to earth, so authentic. Fabulous.
Thanks so much for the kind words!

Don't put your self down! This is your dream car, you are Learning, that's all that matters.
Yep all the fun in the world fettling plus great memories and a nice car at the end is a win win.
Awesome project ! My Dad had a 912 and a 71 911T. Great cars both.
"i'm enjoying myself". Thanks for sharing it with us man, I love it!

Awesome job. Brings back memories of my 1975 Targa restoration. Thank you so much for your love of a forgotten Art.
Jeez. Build quality in the Porsches' bodywork is strong and solid. The care in disassembling the air conditioning parts is very nice!
I had a 77 el camino a few years ago. Every where I went, someone walked up and wanted to tell me their el camino story memories. That’s the fun thing about these old cars.
Yessir! I drive our ‘66 F350 fairly often, and being a common old farm truck I get that a lot lol
Yeah! This is saticfying to watch. I am glad to see somebody else does the same dance with their work light.
Hi Buddy 🙌 Great video on the Porsche 911 😀 Love the honesty and the way your bringing us along the restoration of this Porsche project and not an air tool to bee seen. Cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
As you’re pulling off the front bumper, I’m like. “ watch out for that light....never mind.” 😂
I was attempting to be careful..... 🤪
When you bumped that light, I jumped to the seiling ! My dog too ! He ran under the table, scared like shit ! 🤪
I don't think you are crazy. Talking to your audience is very special to us. You are an inspiration to us that want to get a vehicle to work on.

Yes it is 😜

If you're having fun and learning as you go, you're doing it right. I'm excited to see how each episode unfolds.

You need a better mic. Sound is low except when playing music.
Agreed, sound levels are all over the place.
Or background music is to loud , you can fix this in video editing ! It is very annoying !
Agreed, I love the channel but a $20 Bluetooth mic from eBay would make it so much more watchable!
I would say, that it would be more enjoyable without the music.
The mic itself isn't too bad, he should just put a compressor on and add some gain to it while editing the videos. Having a quick look at the audio levels, I'd say that after compression he should be able to add at least 12dB of gain, possibly more. Some compression tools might do this by default

This is a great series. This is the kind of project that I enjoy doing as well.
Laughing so hard when you dropped the light so many times! I love that you rescued this porche
Whoa! Far from crazy my man! I am a armchair enthusist! I enjoy your dedication.Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! Glad you’re enjoying! 😊

Keep on keeping on man. We're all rooting for you.
Thanks a lot from france to expose this project, your channel is awesome !!!!!
Thank you so much!
Good luck - I think you're going to need it with this one! That's got more rust in it than my '92 Ford Transit!
You are a true honest car lover, family man, working on one of my dream cars. And yes, get a new microphone for x-mas....😊
Good luck for the renovation but please use microport in videos. Thanks! :)
Dude you hit right on the head about cars . I love to do the same with oddball cars.
I appreciate you working with basic tools in your driveway and not in some million dollar garage.
Interesting project🤘
I would not know where to start
But a 911. 👍🏻
That music... classic 🤙
I am really enjoying your videos on this Porsche, keep going!!!

Glad to have you! Thank you! We’ll bring her back!
Bodys in Great shape...looks fun..ah!, bolt on fenders.
Dude thx for this, it is helping me along with my sunbeam alpine project that is in about the same condition as the Porsche
Absolutely! Glad to have you!

Who are you using for injection pump work?
eurocarman not necessary for this one. This isn’t a restoration.
I gave a sub Rennch. I'll check you out.

Looks like a fun project. Take your time and enjoy the build.
Word you were looking for on the front bumper is crumple zone enjoying the build thanks👍
Top build mate! the front suspension pan looks a bit rough but you can get a replacement for 200/300 quid which is well worth it because it usually is the worst weak spot for rust. Keep up the great content!
Great vid!
Do what you love doing man...forget what other people say all that matters is your saving cars😎🏴
