This is amazing, I have learnt a lot. Erokamano K'Ogot. The cultural aspects were captivating particularly the naming ceremony. But how do you zero in on the final two names? How do you select the hens to throw?
You catch random chickens. You then assign them two different names [the names must have been premeditated before]. Then throw the chicken up. The one that remains up or goes higher than the other dictates the name

Thank you so much brother for this wonderful documentary. Am learning a lot about my culture that I didn't know. Thank you a lot 🙏. But I have a Question, I would like to know, apart from Owiny, Did adhola have any other brothers?
Well, this particular part of history is not very clear. They mostly mention Onongor [famously known as Adhola] and Owiny only. Maybe because they were leaders of their particular groups during the great migration.
@@KPtravels001 Adhola and Owiny were dominant members and among the Nilotic Luo dominant members of a group are remembered and immortalized like Kenya Nationalists Tom Mboya, Oginga Odinga, or Uganda Presidents Milton Obote, Gen Tito Okello or Obama etc in present day .
@@KPtravels001 Historically dominant members were warriors or Chiefs or Ker etc like among the Luo-Shilluk under Reth in 635-645AD stopped the Turco-Egyptian Arab rulers of Egypt hence slavery did not move into the Luo groups . Or Chief Awich of Payira among Luo-Acholi of Uganda/Sudan who fought the British and protected Omukama Kabalega of Bunyoro Kitara .
The Nilotic Luo are diasporic(at least 20-25million spread out at least 9-12 territories including Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya ,DRC Congo, Chad, Central Africa Republic, Sudan/Lower Egypt, Ethiopia Gambella/Eritrea, Cameroon Luo- Bantu assimilated by late 1990's) and settled thousands years with skilled warriors(e.g Owiny,Adhola, Obando Mumbo, Ogutu Kipapi, Lela Kabanda, Tawo Kogot, Onyango Randar, Oracha Rambo, Lwanda Magere and others) through conquest, intermarriage and assimilation e.g Luo-Suba in Kenya, Tanzania and Luo-Babito/Luo-Langi/Luo-Kumam in Uganda with tendencies for large families thanks to history of polygamy in the past like all other AFRO groups .
