I’m definitely going to try this but I’ll make mine into a clog, making a thicker sole, so that it can be a slip-on. I love being able to choose breathable cotton or wool fabrics because most store bought slippers have polyester inners that make my feet feel damp due to the unbreathable polyester. Thank you, Lovely, for sharing this! ❤
Thank you! Let me know how you get on with the thicker sole. I'm thinking of trying that in the summer to wear in the garden. If you wanted to make them even more shoe like, you could try adding in a layer of cotton interfacing to stiffen it up some more too. Polyester was in just about all the slippers I was looking at, which was exactly the reason why I decided to make these, so I completely understand how you feel! I always end up kicking them off because my feet feel yuck until they get too cold that I go back to them again lol. I'm so glad I made these. They've been the comfiest slippers I have ever worn, so I hope yours will turn out the same too! Linda 💕
@@SewingbeefabricsCoUkUpdatesSlippers complete! Not quite as neat as yours but not bad for what they're made of - leather from my old school music case, sole from woollen I accidentally felted and a scrap of furnishing fabric. I have the template now so can do an improvement when I've worn these out. Incidentally, whilst I was rooting around in my old books I found a collection of Dryad Handicrafts leaflets....number 114 is felted or suede slippers...you had to purchase the soles from them but everything else you found yourself. Their design separates the heel from the front upper - just as you see in Indian slippers. I might change my template to try that style too.
@SierraNovemberKilo sounds like a fab upcycling project! It's always so fun uncovering the long forgotten random things when you root back through old piles sewing things!
Thanks. I didn't include one, because my fabric isn't slipping out of position so I didn't need to secure them on my pair of slippers. If they were, I would have hand sewn in a stitch or 2 inside the slipper (making a stitch going through the lining and just catching a tiny bit of the outer layer) at the toes and again at the heels. If it's extra slippy inside, then another halfway up each side too. That should stop it wanting to shift. Hope that helps x
Wrapped up with paper and tape Flashbacks to being wrapped up in T-shirt and parcel tape making a custom mannequin highly entertaining for the wrappers especially when doing at work 😂😂 it wasn’t a success when it was filled with expanding foam it ended up lope sided But these have success written all over it Love that fabric where’s it from💜
🤣🤣🤣 I was tempted to do the stuffing version when it was trending then didn't get around to it. The expanding foam idea sounded like it was just destined to bulge in all the wrong places even more than my real shape. 🤣 Sounds like it was a hilarious way to spend an evening even if it'll never help with fittings! You can find the fabric for these slippers here - shop.sewingbeefabrics.co.uk/shop/fabric/cotton/northcott-woodland-babes/ - I hope you'll have just as much fun making your slipper pattern. I'd love to hear how you get on x
My husband brought home a very abused loveseat because it was all leather. The cushions and most of the seatback were unsalvageable, but the sides and true back were like new!
The leather sole is cut half a centimetre smaller than the pattern. All other pieces have a seam allowance all the way around - it doesn't matter the seam allowance distance you choose to use as long as it's consistent, and if you like sewing with a wider seam allowance, just trim it down a little on the toe end after stitching.
I haven't tried it myself, but I'd imagine you'd have to make some changes to the pattern to be able to do that because I'm not sure how well it would stay on by just gluing the slipper part to it. As the top would be much more moveable than the base, I'd expect it to pull at the glue and be prone to peeling off. I guess if I wanted to try something like that, I'd maybe make a pattern in a similar way, but standing on the flip flop and marking the flipflop depth. I'd try cutting it with enough fabric to hem the bottom. That way I could make the outer layer glue all around the edges of the flip-flop (so there'd be no fabric base to the outer layer of the pattern at all). I'd sew the lining as the pattern without that extra depth. So that it can fit inside with the sole part included to make it more snuggly to wear. I think there's a few tutorials out there where people have used flip-flops as their slipper base so maybe they'd have some better ideas having already tried and tested it! I hope that helps 💕

Thank you, you're very welcome 😊
A tip or trixk on securing the lining so when removing the slipper it doesn't turn inside out would be nice . I do love this tutorial!

love it
Thank you 🙂
Thank you, for sharing. I have a question? I am concerned about slipping in these does the leather soul prevent this from happening?
Yep, the leather gives it a lovely non-slip base. 💕
Wonderful ! Thank you so much, such a creative idea 💖.
🎉❤🎉
I wonder if you could use flip flops for the soles 🤔
