- We all heard the stories of people claiming they got a Birkin out of the blue without prior purchase history. Basically just walking into a Hermès boutique and asking for a Birkin or Kelly bag and they got it.
Sounds too good to be true? Because it is.
No purchase history a.k.a. profile, no SA helping you out, no other connection to hook you up = no quota bag. It’s that simple.
Yes, we’ve seen people travelling places and buying a Birkin and even showing the receipts… that’s great, but they never mention how much money they dropped to get it or that they had someone with an allocation hooking them up. You would only get these information behind the scenes.
So, in this video I’ll make clear what works and what doesn’t and share the ratio I spend before collecting my beloved Birkin 25 in crane with rose gold hardware.

My cousin's fiance walked into a boutique in Chicago, bought a belt for himself and then jokingly asked the SA if she had any birkins. He walked out with a pink birkin 30 in palladium hardware 😂😩
I feel like this is more about "why you can't get a birkin," than how I got my birkin. Only after the 15 minute mark, do you kind of get to the topic of the title.

I agree 100% it’s all about the relationship you have organically with you SA, I got my B without a spending history and I truly believe it came down to how calm and assertive I was.
Also bc you’re based in france where it’s easier for French speakers to get a B or K

Exactly, i agree with you if you love the brand not just for Birkin or Kelly, then you will get them in the future. I get mine like that 🙈 I never go to buy something before… I go to my local boutique Hermes near to Paris and I ask for a Birkin and then 7 months later I get the call 😂 I was lucky but they give the opportunity to the people we live in the town first, no foreigners.

I didn’t buy anything just for Birkin. I got offer after 1 week of filling my wishlist which is B25 GHW popular color. It is all about relationship with you and your SA and your store manager. I never bought twilly, fine jewelry. I bought everything as I planed ahead like. Sandal, perfume, picotin, mini evelyne , 1 scarf.
I had the same experience and I completely agree with you. There is no way that I’ll have to force a relationship and or waste a lot of money to get a bag.

I’m 10 mins into this video and now I doubt I will ever be able to get a Kelly. I really do not want to buy a lot of unnecessary and things I don’t need in other to able to allow to buy a 10k plus bag.

People have started calling highest in demand bags unicorn bags.
For Chanel it typically aligns with the unicorn color expectations - rainbow color bags (often metallic gradient patterns). For Hermès it is typically the opposite, very desirable neutrals (black and gold - tan - Probably ranking highest, then your greys, creams, taupes, beiges ..)
The cringe of telling people that Birkin and Kelly are Rewards! LOL.🤣🤣
Anyways, your experience and other people's experience is different.
It's just so sad that you build relationship and bought a lot of unnecessary things in hermes just to get your reward🤣 while others just got lucky to get it without playing their reward system🤣🤣
Congratulations on your baby. 🍾🎈No disrespect, but it seems that many people find things to buy at Hermès because they are really only interested in a Birkin or a Kelly. I shop at Hermès and I have bought things that I really wanted. I can’t imagine spending $15,000 just to buy a $9000 handbag. I would bet anything that people trying to “build their profile” end up selling most of what they buy because they never wanted it in the first place. Hermès, like most luxury brands, has created an artificial scarcity to make some of their items more desirable. If they wanted to, they could hire mire craftsmen to make the bags. It’s not a fair comparison to the auto industry because it takes far longer to build a car than to sew a handbag. But Hermès has trained people to force themselves to spend just to get a bag. I personally would rather keep buying silver jewelry, scarves and other leather and get three of their less sought after bags than to randomly buy things in the hopes of getting an offer. But that’s me. Your Birkin is beautiful but I hope you enjoy whatever else you purchase just as much because there’s a whole lot invested in it.
Following your logic, couldn't car makers simply hire more production staff as well to build more cars? The fact that it takes longer to make a car in comparison to a handbag is only affecting the price, not really the quantity. But I'd agree that you'll probably reach a point when you start buying the same H product in different colors because you run out of things to buy that you like.
@@hajo542 No, it’s a totally different creature. You can’t compare making a car to sewing a handbag. If you are talking about the top tier luxury cars, like Rolls Royce, you can go into a dealership and buy a Rolls Royce, or a Bentley, or a Maserati. If you want a special edition, you can go on a wait list or custom order it. You can’t even look at the bag at Hermès. None of the car companies expect that you will go in and spend $100,000 before they will let you buy a $100,000 car. If a model is rare, I am sure that a customer with a long standing history at a dealership can request a particular car, but car companies are not likely to ever hold back inventory. It’s unheard of. They will sell it if it’s in stock. They won’t call around to see who else is interested if someone is in the showroom and can be approved for a loan . If Joe Blow from around the corner waked in and got approved to buy, they would sell it to him rather than let it sit on the lot.
@@dawnlovescouture2644 It's actually very comparable. You could also throw watchmaking into the mix. They are all the same from a manufacturing point of view. Of course the product is different but the methods are the same. Hermes can hire and train more craftsman and every car maker can hier more staff and add another production line. But they don't because there isn't enough demand or if there is enough demand they need to protect their exclusivity and profits. Flooding the market with their most sought after products will de-value their own products and brand. It's not luxury if everyone has it, right? If you look at the lineup of those car or watch makers you'll see the similarities between brands. Just like Hermes, where you have plenty of readily available products and some that are limited, you'll find the same at high-end car makers. Of course you can walk into a Ferrari dealership and purchase or order a Portofino. But try asking for a SF90 and you will experience the same "profile" assessment as we know from Hermes, Rolex and plenty of other companies. Maybe you've heard that almost all Hypercars are pre-sold out. Never wondered how that happens? Sold out before the public even knows they exist? Because they actually pick and call the clients they want to offer those "reward" cars to. Sounds familiar, right? Or simply try buying a steel sports watch from Rolex. Just walk in an ask? Sure. But you won't be offered one unless you spend like 4 times that price buying other models (which is actually a lot worse than H). They understand the demand and monetise on it because they are for profit organizations. When it comes to luxury there is more than just putting money on the table.
@@hajo542 Sorry, being rewarded with the “opportunity” to spend your own money is a created concept. An item isn’t devalued because it’s more accessible. If there were more Birkin and Kellys available, it would maintain it’s exclusivity because most people can’t afford to or want to spend 10k on a handbag. It’s not Walmart. Most people will never buy Hermès. The only people ordering HyperCard are millionaires and billionaires because not everyone can afford it. They will never mass produce those cars because there’s not a market for it. Most people I know wouldn’t buy a twilly from Hermès because they can’t see the value in it. What Hermès has managed to do is to create the ultimate status symbol, and also create a way to ensure that their other merchandise sells. From my understanding, it was not initially so difficult to get one until they became popular through Sex and the City. Seeing it on the characters made it suddenly more desirable and everyone wanted one so the demand did become higher. An exclusive item is one that is special ordered, custom made, or one of a kind. Any manufactured product has been manipulated. Really, Hermès should just raise the prices of Birkin and Kellys to $25k and do away with these silly games. They aren’t rewarding anyone if the expectation is that you spend X amount to then spend 10k. Besides that, if someone is “offering” something to me, the word “offer” implies a gift. When I go anywhere to spend money, I’m shopping. I’m not being “offered” anything, I’m paying for it.
@@dawnlovescouture2644 I think it's less about being offered a product and more about being offered access to something exclusive. Or gaining access through means of spending. Same with membership fees for any kind of private club. If something is plentiful available it looses it's exclusivity. Nobody would be willing to pay a premium for something everybody can have without problems. There has to be some kind of limitation. Usually price or availability. Something exclusive is simply something not everybody has access to. It's about creating a desire that can be monetized. We always want what we can't have. Maybe try putting yourself in the position of any of these companies. I'd be surprised if you wouldn't run it the same way. It just makes too much sense for the business which is why pretty much all luxury brands try to work it out like that.
I think people are embarrassed to share that they had to spend $$$$$$$ to get offered a bag so they'd rather say that it was really easy and omit those details.
