I live in Clarksville too, I seen the tornado and ran to tell my mom and sister who were home, my other sister was at work, we all went into the bathroom and hid in the bathtub, luckily the tornado missed our home by a single right turn (because I'm near the regional airport) we did lose power for a few hours tho, this day will remain in my mind for a while, god bless anyone who lost loved ones or lost their homes and etc
This comment really means a lot. It's definitely interesting to see the tornado that messed everything up but I sincerely appreciate the concern about peoples lives.
This may be one of a thousand tornado videos that people watch.
But this hits different when you've grown up in that exact neighborhood.
I know which homes the tornado was tearing apart as they were recording the video from their car.
Thank you to every single person who has helped and sent well wishes
As I watched the footage, I was astounded by the sight of drivers continuing to head towards where a tornado was clearly approaching. It struck me as inexplicable that these drivers remained unaware of the imminent threat and continued driving towards its path. Their obliviousness to such a potentially devastating situation was truly baffling.
Just when you think people can't be any more stupid, they prove you wrong.
Lol how about the dude who decided to do a u turn directly INTO the tornado 🤦
I was astounded at the very same thing you were I just could not comprehend the drivers that just kept on driving towards it. Talk about absolutely no situational awareness whatsoever.
I would have been OUT OF THERE!! I would've just turned around and completely bOOkEd it in the other direction. 😬
@@-Zelo I saw that too and wondered why they did that u turn. Possibly thought that would take out of its path??
As a young teenager who loves watching Tornado videos and learning about weather on her free time, I must say seeing a tornado of this size in my hometown and this close to my neighboorhood has to be one of the most humbling and horrifing experiences of my life.
Highly recommend not mentioning your age online if you are not a legal adult.
I bet the tornado was a heck of an experience, it’s good you’re safe.
As someone who has PTSD from them, I don't even know why I'm watching this rn to raise my weather paranoia
There's a big difference watching footage and being under these monsters....But I'm sorry that this happened to you.Stay strong!
Do you remember the one that went from Nashville to Cookeville killing 30 people just in Cookeville? That one happened at the end of my road. We only woke up when the power went out. There was no notification for that storm. No one knew it was coming. If it had turned just a tiny bit it would have been on my road and we probably wouldn’t be here just like so many other families. It’s always a hard reality when they hit so close to home.
@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist5 I’m going to repeat that to anyone who tells me I shouldn’t eat pork because of religious reasons 👍
Very intense close up video of a strong tornado. Amazes me how so many of the other drivers continued on into the path of the tornado and did not even attempt to stop. People underestimate the power of these storms.
It seemed like a lot of them were confused. Sometimes you don't know where a tornado is until it's right on top of your house/car.
People around here also can't drive. Can confirm first-hand.
Nah. They are in a state of panic and not thinking clearly. People do weird things when bad stuff is around them.
Because it's fake footage. The aftermath footage is genuine but the footage of the tornado is all CGI probably done in Unreal Engine 5 or Blender.
There's not a single actual human and the USPS van clearly has no one driving it.
They were probably tic toking or texting and completely unaware until it was directly in front of them.
I live in Clarksville but was actually in Chattanooga when this happened. Everyone who was here said it was bad but seeing it firsthand is absolutely terrifying and insane. 3 people have passed so far, two adults and a child.
It's been about 15 years since I was down there, but it looks like this was on 41A heading towards the Main Gate?
That's why I hate these things. I love looking at them, but hate the destruction they leave.
Oh no! This is the first I heard about fatalities. That is so heartbreaking.
@@happyinparis The sad thing is that those who die immediately are usually the ones who get out easy. It's the people who live through this that have trauma and life-altering financial and physical catastrophies from which they may never recover.

I was driving school bus in NC and my bus camera actually caught a tornado forming and touching down in Mount Airy. Watching the cloud formations helps as well.
My heart nearly stopped seeing those people turning the same direction the tornado was heading, it looked as if they were heading down a road, but then I saw they were getting nearer the building. @earljenkins4671 You don't know how you will react when facing a situation like that. They more than likely panicked when they felt the force of the winds and didn't realize what direction it was going. Let's hope they survived the storm.

I was in New York today complaining it was too warm out to wear my new jacket. Coming down this week to help with the aftermath. Everybody stay strong, stay united. God bless.
Im from NY but I live in Memphis now this system went by us my mother called me concerned but I knew it was too cool in my area (65-68) to have a huge tornado. They had a warning an hour South of us but luckily it was cooler in my area. The temp level where the big tornadoes (F2+) happen here is at or above 72 exactly. It is unbelievable. Went through same situation in Little Rock earlier this year. Apparently some people don't use weather apps or have no idea how a map works when they look at one. I live in the area, was at a gas station in Gallatin, near the Gallatin Airport, where the news said the tornado was at the time, and I witnessed power flashes and inflow winds, and on the way home, the damage path, truly horrific.
Stepping frame by frame, at 12 frames into 3:32 just as the huge power flash is beginning in the distance, you can see arcing across the telephone splice on the nearest power pole -- the "bulge" in the lowest-hanging cable -- and also higher up near the street light. The tornado had twisted the high voltage wires into contact with many of the others, so power was flowing along them where it shouldn't, causing visible arcing and flames a block away. Amazing what cameras catch!
And then the chasers IMMEDIATELY drove under those lines !! 😳😱🤷🏼♀️
Now you know why practically everything is grounded even if it doesn't carry electricity.
I just moved out of clarksville out to the west coast like a month ago. Good timing on my part. Hope everyone is ok
I moved out of a neighborhood that was hit less than 3 weeks ago. I'm shocked and saddened at the destruction. 😢
It was right down the street from my house. We watched it from the basement. Rest in peace to the people who were killed.
Did the tornado literally sound like a freight train?
There was a steady rumbling sound. I was in the basement and other family members were still upstairs. The warnings and sirens had warned us. I wasn't looking outside. Then I heard the steady rumble sound kinda like a train. I thought, that doesn't sound good. I opened the door to the backyard and there was a tornado. I started yelling then for the others upstairs to get in the basement. It is a walkout basement. They hurried down. I said look you can see it and they did. We all saw lots of stuff like plywood, cardboard and trash swirling about a 1/2 mile or so up in the air on the edges off the tornado. Yes I guess the rumble sounded train like. Probably the best description of the sound. I have seen two other tornados in my life and they both had that sound as well.@@thebaxman4459

This has to be the best tornado video I’ve ever seen. Usually people push record and expect magic to happen. Great job, and focus. Chuck Norris couldn’t have remained more calm
I live in southern Kentucky, it was a very scary experience. I remember I was putting my 6 month old (she just turned 6 months that day), down for a nap and I got an emergency alert that a tornado touched down in my location. I was SO scared and I felt my whole entire body go frozen, I literally felt my heart beating like crazy. I didn’t know what to do, I never experienced this before and I was alone since my boyfriend was at work. We don’t have a basement, and the only thing we have to provide us cover is a small hallway closet. Even if we could have somehow fit in there, it was filled to the brim with stuff since we we moved back in August. I just never had the time to clean it all out, from taking care of her, laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, etc. almost everyday or no motivation to do so. The tornado was 15 minutes away from me when it first touched the ground, and had NO idea which direction it was heading. I called my mom because I was scared and didn’t want to feel alone in that situation, she did an amazing job calming me down or I wouldn’t know what to do. My daughter heard the sirens and was crying, I was stressed out SO bad I couldn’t think straight. Thankfully everything turned out alright, and I’m so sorry about those whose lives was lost that day. There was a child that did not make it, and I know the person personally which breaks my heart even more.
Wow! Another tornado. Hope everyone is OK. I lived in Clarksville back in 1999 and remember the F3 tornado that came through and caused a lot of damage back then.
It's unreal seeing my town on this channel! I watch tornado videos all the time and have studied them extensively since the "Quad-state tornado" outbreak when one crossed this very same road just a few miles to the north. This was just a minute or two before it passed over (or just a few yards from) my house. Thankfully, only my across-the-street neighbors' wooden fence was damaged and a few trash cans and tree limbs were tossed around, but everyone in our neighborhood was okay. I had to quickly go from the kitchen to a bedroom to take cover after I saw that I was in its path. The sirens went off and I got a warning on my phone only after it had passed through. I also somehow slept through the Clarksville 1999 tornado just a few months before I turned four. That one also passed just a few yards from where my family lived at the time. My thoughts go to the victims of this tornado outbreak and those who lost loved ones during this challenging and scary time.
Gotta love people who drive INTO tornadoes.
That little white car turned right around into harms way 😬

That was a head palm moment seeing that.
Is it the same one that got flipped? But it looked like it had dark rims, the upside down one were shiny.
Glad I missed the last train
Yeah, I keep hearing "Last Train to Clarksville" in my head. And as it's it actually not a happy song it seems appropriate.
My dad sent me this video. This happened about 200 yards away from his home. I'm so glad it missed him! That is so scary!! I hope he never gets hit with one of these. 😢
I don't understand why everyone just keeps driving TOWARD IT?! I would get the heck outta there asap!
The rear inflow jet is arguably the most dangerous from this side
Yeah that’s the straight line wind that typically tosses many objects like cars on their sides and roofs.
That's when the telephone poles snapped
That’s usually what gets people in trouble without knowing it.
Exactly, the tornado's tenacles wrap around the actual funnel and can be just as damaging. Stay clear and hunker down.
Great video brother…. Always amazes me how people are Soooo oblivious to what’s going on around them in bad weather …. In this day and age with cell phones, there’s really no excuse for not knowing about the weather around you.

@@T_DEEZThe sirens were going off for a little over 5 minutes before it hit my home. Cellphone alerts were also going crazy. Not to mention I was watching the radar. Luckily we had a basement as we had a lot of large windows that sent glass through the house.
@@T_DEEZ Same here. I live in Paris. We had a tornado watch and within a minute it changed to a warning. That has never happened to me in the 17 years I have lived here. My family and I had this happen one spring a few years ago while eastbound on a rural interstate highway in the Midwest. There was sunshine to the north of the highway (our left), but to the south (our right) there was a solid black wall cloud all the way down to the ground and coming rapidly across the fields toward the freeway. Just as it reached the freeway there were a bunch of brake lights up ahead and a huge cloud of dirt and debris was thrown up just on the other side of an overpass about 1/4 mile ahead. For a second I thought there had been a crash, but the next second a tornado came out of the black wall cloud and crossed the interstate in front of us just like in the video. Freeway traffic going both ways stopped while it crossed and miraculously it didn't hit any vehicles. We arrived where it had crossed no more than 30 seconds later as it was spinning off through a field to our left silhouetted against the bright sky farther north. To our right was a "V" path of twisted off trees cut through the woods, and major tree branches and the twisted remains of one of those big green metal highway signs were scattered across the freeway. Everyone was sitting there wondering what to do, but what else was there to do? We slowly wove our way around the debris in the roadway and drove on.
Prayers to those impacted in TN. GBA from 🇨🇦.
While witnessing a deadly tornado UP CLOSE:
"Whoa... You sure I can't get in it like a cow? Whoa."
Best tornado chasing commentary EVAR.
She said "Moo" at the end, not "whoa" lmao which is even better
Praying for all affected. I never wanna be that close to a tornado! That was SCARY to see cars keep driving by it!!
Have family there and in Hendersonville and Nashville. Thankfully they are all safe with only property damage. Best wishes to everyone affected. This storm is so unusual especially this time of year. Thank you for posting this video.
You are dang lucky to survive!! 🌪 I drove through one-didn't know it was a real tornado until I saw it on the news later that night. We just thought it was "awful windy"😲
Amazing video. I can't believe some people have zero situational awareness and practically drive right into the twister.
If the GPS doesn’t say “In 500 feet stop for the passing tornado” they won’t see it
@@famousutopias 🤣🤣👍
Car did a u-turn and went right into the path. I wonder what the thought process was.
I bet that they were convinced that their itinerary was more important than a possible death. No time for a tornado- I got to get Gavin to ball practice.
Thanks for sharing. Thoughts and prayers for those impacted. Nice Twister reference in the middle of a tense situation.
My daughter and SIL and 5 gbabies live there. They have tons of property damage but thankfully they are physically okay. So scary.
Great video! Hope no one got hurt

I saw some on the news last night, they covered this on the weather channel. I kept waiting for you to post something. I hoped you were ok but thought for sure your power was out if not your home hit. I kept saying, this looks like her neighborhood! So glad to hear you are ok.
I actually go there! This tornado was right nearby my grandpa's, Im so glad he survived.
WOW! A real monster!
Lol!
