Since I am into fragrances, my biggest takeaway, is that most times it is acquired taste. Most people I show my favourite stuff dislike, or even hate it. One time I showed my buddy TF Black Orchid, which was the frag that really started me getting into collecting. I was all over that smell, while he reluctantly said it smells like a grandma. (He uses 1 million and MB Club Black) I showed my dad Amouage Interlude, and he instantly said that it is way too strong and headache inducing (He uses A&F Fierce). Amouage is basically a hit or miss with most people, I even got negative reactions for Reflection, which is a rather popular scent.

The only cologne I can over apply and people love it is Fierce by Abercrombie. A lot of people don’t want to admit that musky, super sweet or 80’s smelling (Savauge Elixir) fragrances are loved by a VERY small amount of people.
Savauge smells so common, I had smell perfumes similar to it so many times in the past, I don't get the hype with the popularity and when it was released, must be because of Jeremy Fragrance overhyping it.
MM Ocean Noir is one of my absolute favorites… top 3 no question. Wore it for thanksgiving and hugged my cousin hello and she says “why do you smell like axe body spray?” …Crushed, lol
Wish I’d seen the original request. I could’ve shared about the time I wore a cologne that nearly got me a kicking. About 32-33 years ago, my Dad was clearing out some of his stuff and he gave me a bottle of Kouros. Back then, a 15-year-old lad didn’t know too much about scents and how many sprays was too many. A group of us were going out to a local roller disco that night and we were getting picked up by one of my mates’ older brothers. After a probable handful of sprays, I was ready to hit the town. Up pulls the older brother in his Citroen 2CV. With 3 of us in the back and 2 in the front, it wasn’t long before the fumes became pungently overpowering. Not even the ajar sunroof and 4 open windows could filter out the overruling funk and I was forcibly ejected. I never made it to the disco that night. I went home and scrubbed the scent off while cursing my Dad under my breath. A scent I’ll never wear again.
I wore one of my favorite niche colognes of all time: Followed by Kerosene to work but I made 2 mistakes 1: I sprayed 3 SPRAYS:wrists, neck, chest 2: I wore it on a hot day in the backroom where fans were blowing (this is a sweet frag) When I came in people said “You smell pancakes?😋 But when I started getting warmer it changed to “WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE MAPLE SYRUP😡😷” which wouldn’t be bad except I sprayed 3 sprays of a sweet fragrance on a 90 degree day😭 People figured out it was me and admitted to being the “Maple Guy🍁”😄 Followed REALLY REALLY follows cause I left and the backroom smelled like intense breakfast for 5 hours, please don’t make my mistake guys😂
To be fair, I find Sauvage and Sauvage Elixir smell so dissimilar that it's easily possible to like one and hate the other (especially not liking Sauvage and loving elixir, which is the case for me)
2:22 The same happened to me at work. I was wearing half a spritz on my neck... Needless to say, I showed up the next day with 6 sprays. I was wearing Afnan 9 PM. 2:57 That also happened to me. I was applying cocoa butter lotion, and after so many comments. I just cut them off. It got annoying. I was like we aren't even friends, we are coworkers. And kept using my cocoa butter lotion.
Growing up, I would always use my granddad's Wood Hue, and my mom HATED it! One day I came home from visiting him and she said "You're too young to smell so old, and I don't see no gray in your hair yet!" Needless to say, I went from Wood Hue to Polo Green and she still wasn't happy 🤣
Polo Green. I used to wear it for quite a few years in the 90’s. Wore it every day.Loved it. It was my signature scent(even though I’m ICU RN). Being nostalgic, I bought a bottle last year. I can’t stand it. It must be reformulated in a very bad way. It smells like a very old man. Even though I’m old (almost 70) I can’t take it. Sad😢😢😢
WOOD HUE! I haven't smelled that in forever... That was my uncle's signature. My grandfather wore L.T. Piver Cuir La Russie. I recently bought a newer formulation of the Piver... Certainly not what it used to be 😢
I am a chef so being in a hot environment is the norm. Im a big fan of Viktor and Rolfe Spicebomb extreme and similar fragrances but under the wrong situationn or circumstance it can be nauseating for even me to have on.. That being said my regular go to's are ADG profundo, Chanel Platinum, and Prada homme'
Lol reminds me of the day I wore CDIM pure parfum to work. Had a 3hours physical meeting with my team then after went back to my work station and the lady sharing office space with me asked me if I broke my perfume bottle on my cloths and wore it to work I apologised and was scared to think of what my team went through in the last 3hours during our meeting🤣🤣🤣
The farther away from common scents the more i find it can take time to appreciate (including myself). Most people like familiar so odd or niche can be a turn off until they smell it a few times.
I read a bunch of these comments the last time you posted about worst reactions. So many of them seem to be motivated by jealousy. It's legit if somebody criticizes a note, but when they put down the wearer, or make up a note that's nowhere close to the original, it's just hate. Like, "how dare you put in the effort. I'm going to humiliate you for trying to set yourself apart."
Brings back memories of earlier this year, I was wearing Libre EDP went to my local shop was browsing and one of the cashiers walked near where I was and said something smelt like toilet water. Probably the only bad reaction I've had while wearing it.
I wore Lattafa Qaaed over the holidays at my cousin’s place and he complained that the living room smelled like burning incense that traumatized him when he went to church as a kid 😂 He proceeded to open the windows and spray room spray everywhere.
I layer Kouros (5 sprays) with Megamare (2-3) just on Fridays at work. People will ovoid you, leave you alone and makes for a nice segue into the weekend 😂
The Joop story I can relate to. A guy I was seeing was showing me his collection and when we got to Joop I was instantly repulsed by it. The smell reminded me of cough syrup, which I associate with alcohol and getting sick. I felt bad cause he really liked it.
About 4 years ago my cousin brought over his bottle of Lagerfeld the OG and I used to wear it in my late teens and early twenties but I smelled it and had to puke because it was so sickingly sweet and said nope never again.
I recently got told by a pregnant woman at work that she could smell my fragrance from outside on the car park while i was inside in the factory fairly big factory too 🤣 it was savauge parfum which i thought sits fairly close and don't push out like the edt yet apparently it's pushing out more than i thought,
I love me some scents. But I blind bought Bentley for men intense after watching many reviews and I took an L. I have “sophisticated” frags but BFMI smells like a Cuban from the 50’s. I don’t even know what that smells like but i would imagine it’s this.
I actually went to the hospital to visit a friend. It was my first time wearing Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense outside in the heat. While there were a few people in front of me asking information regarding room numbers, as soon as I got close the person at the information desk, she exclaimed in utter disgust, "What is that smell?!!!" As I got closer, she asked it again as though she was about to puke. Consequently, I have a nearly full bottle of D&G Light Blue Eau Intense just collecting dust in my bedroom now.
Either your body chemistry didn’t work well with that scent on that day, or the receptionist was rather an odious person, and I suspect it’s a bit of both. I’ve worn light blue intense, and it’s been a well liked scent, but those compliments were on warm nights. So try again, and maybe try wearing it on summer nights when the sun is down, and not in a healthcare setting lol.
😂 Yup... I can feel that. That's the consequences of wearing D&G Light Blue intense for men inside the building or in the room. You may got complain which sounds like you bring a lot of fishy seweed with you... I have 2 bottles of D&G Light Blue intense and 1 D&G swimming in Lipari and I don't know if i can finished it. 😑
You people dropping frags because some random people didn't like it are weird. If I like a frag even my wife won't make me drop it. If she doesn't like it I'll not wear it when we are together. That's it.
I think people in Poland have much bigger fragrance tolerance than in other countries, that being said there is one particular fragrance that apparently is so loud, it always gets attention. I took 2 or 3 sprays of 212 VIP Black Product (Red) edition and went to the city by walk. My brother was driving in the same direction so he stopped and took me. The moment I sit in the car he immediately opened the windows because apparently he couldn't breathe. And it was winter might I tell You. He said that if I'll overspray like that he won't give me a ride. Before that when I was studying I've entered the university building wearing 212. My colegues that were hanging around in the room located far away from the entrance said that they knew immediately that I've entered the school, cause they smelled me.
This is timely as just today I was flying from the UK to Spain on holiday and the stewardess warned all us passengers that someone on board has an allergy to fragrances!
I was a polo wear in high school. When i was 18 my first date took me to a Nashville nightclub for my first time he had on joop i fell in love with it was only use to polo and old people old spice. I still love joop and polo green. The scent of both brings back memories like i was there again
I was pretty stoked to see a Joop tester while in the checkout line at T.J. Maxx the other day. this is likely because I had to use cough syrup often as a child due to asthma but i definitely understand the hate now hahaha. to me there is this underlying set of notes reminiscent of robotussin but sweeter maybe a touch of Delsym hahaha
My coworker at the office got a bad allergic reaction, said that her throat was swelling up. Keep in mind I wasn’t wearing perfume on me but wearing a jacket where I had sprayed 4 times of CDNIM EDT…3 days ago…
Man Starry Night...I'm with that guy except I assaulted my own senses. I tried from a sample vial before bed and ended up having to take a shower cause it was keeping me up with its beastly push.
I totally agree with Interlude Man and also it's clone Shaghaf Oud Abyadd. That oregano, oud & smoke( incense) combo does not work for me at all. I sold mine the second day I got it. I know some fragrances take time to understand and enjoy but I have big doubts that Interlude Man would have gotten that much better for my nose.
One day I wore Armaf club de suit Silage to work and my co worker said I smelt like for formaldehyde and embalming fluid that they use for dead people….. hey idc I love that stuff lol.
Normally i wont spray so much 3 to 4 but if people say anything bad, i just brush them off. I wont be demotivated just because one or 2 said something bad. The thing is we as human cant always please everyone.
I've never heard any complaints, but I prefer "boring" or safe fragrances. Once I grew out my beard, I wore a fragrance much less often, preferring instead to just have the scent of whatever beard oil and balm/butter I was using. The closest thing I'd ever had to a complaint was after using a tobacco scented product (Gun slinger from Live Bearded) and a state trooper asking me, "What am I smelling? I'm smelling something." So, not a complaint, but certainly could've been annoying if he didn't believe me and decided to try and go through my stuff or call a dog.
My worst experiences: 1. Perry Ellis by Perry Ellis For Men - smells like blood and bandages 2. Rakaan Swiss Arabian - smells like horrible bathroom cleaner 3. Narciso Rodriguez for Him - smells like funeral
@7:18 i know this video is old but my uncle has this and it literally makes my stomach sick every time i get a whiff. It's by far THE WORST fragrance ive ever smelt.
My mom gave me a bottle of Uomo from Avon! It had to be over 30 years old! I smelled that stuff and my soul tried to vacate my body!😂 It had definitely "turned!"
Haha I remember Joop Homme when it first came out everyone wore it it was too overpowering patchouli headache potion! Kouros was a fragrance that I always hated it smelled like soap too heavy on the senses!😂
for me, I could easily tell I was chocking my coworkers out wearing sauvage. Even with like 2 sprays, it was way too much in my office environment where we all sit like 4 ft from each other and often times working side by side on something. That's why I switched to Luna Rossa Carbon.
ARMAF Sillage smelled like raid bug spray when a room full of my coworkers smelled it… definitely an embarrassing moment. Made me want to throw it away.
The inky smell was really disappointing when I received it. I’m macerating it right now and it’s beginning to smell better. It’s been about a week since beginning
Azzaro Aqua Verde. I though it was a nice ozonic green fragrance that was safe for work. The last time I wore it several people said "What is that!? I don't know it smells like hairspray or something." 😢 That bottle is retired for the time being.
Interlude Man got me the worst feedback I ever received wearing a fragrance. After spraying it on my forearm ata niche perfume store I went to Sephora because my wife wanted to check out some makeups and the salesman there literally covered his nose and said someone there was smelling like old cigars mixed with some oil that people use to polish wood furniture.
We often forget in the frag community that things we love like sillage and performance can be loud and obnoxious to regular people.

Hey man, some super sweet scents are the top sellers...someone out there's buyin em...
Savauge smells so common, I had smell perfumes similar to it so many times in the past, I don't get the hype with the popularity and when it was released, must be because of Jeremy Fragrance overhyping it.
Sauvage Elixir is terrible..grosses me out.
MM Ocean Noir is one of my absolute favorites… top 3 no question. Wore it for thanksgiving and hugged my cousin hello and she says “why do you smell like axe body spray?”
…Crushed, lol
LOL great story
kouros still king tho, will never die
@@hearTelus Tbh, if I ever see a bottle again, I may give it a slight spritz and see how it unfolds.
I wore one of my favorite niche colognes of all time: Followed by Kerosene to work but I made 2 mistakes
1: I sprayed 3 SPRAYS:wrists,neck,chest
2: I wore it on a hot day in the backroom where fans were blowing (this is a sweet frag)
When I came in people said “You smell pancakes?😋
But when I started getting warmer it changed to “WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE MAPLE SYRUP😡😷” which wouldn’t be bad except I sprayed 3 sprays of a sweet fragrance on a 90 degree day😭
People figured out it was me and admitted to being the “Maple Guy🍁”😄
Followed REALLY REALLY follows cause I left and the backroom smelled like intense breakfast for 5 hours, please don’t make my mistake guys😂
To be fair, I find Sauvage and Sauvage Elixir smell so dissimilar that it's easily possible to like one and hate the other (especially not liking Sauvage and loving elixir, which is the case for me)
Exactly this! I bought the Parfum and EDP versions, gave them both away, but LOVE the Elixir.
Interesting as in all honesty Sauvage Elixir is the worst fragrance I have sprayed in the last 5 years 🤢
@@njdenney69 its all so subjective.
@@njdenney69creed Aventus is the worse
When my friends complain about my projection, I replace them with more interesting friends.
Polo green is 🔥. BUT... It was old man then, and old man retro now...🤣. Still a classic!
😆😆
Wow, people can be so judgemental. By putting your exploration down, she was opening herself up to be judged in return.
Certainly not what it used to be 😢
Ash please do more of these. They are hilarious
Being a chef working in a hot kitchen wearing Spicebomb extreme 🥵🤣 this comment killed me ffs 💀 👏👏👏
Turn this into a series
Lol reminds me of the day I wore CDIM pure parfum to work.
Had a 3hours physical meeting with my team then after went back to my work station and the lady sharing office space with me asked me if I broke my perfume bottle on my cloths and wore it to work
I apologised and was scared to think of what my team went through in the last 3hours during our meeting🤣🤣🤣
Nah, just a bitter old woman.
Had an instance someone had to move from me on bus because of moustach edp. I had no idea how strong it was in enclosed areas
The farther away from common scents the more i find it can take time to appreciate (including myself). Most people like familiar so odd or niche can be a turn off until they smell it a few times.
I agree
I read a bunch of these comments the last time you posted about worst reactions.
So many of them seem to be motivated by jealousy. It's legit if somebody criticizes a note, but when they put down the wearer, or make up a note that's nowhere close to the original, it's just hate. Like, "how dare you put in the effort. I'm going to humiliate you for trying to set yourself apart."
3:47 i cant imagine walking around in 6 sprays of Elixir, i feel like i'm overdoing it when i sneak a 3rd spray
Brings back memories of earlier this year, I was wearing Libre EDP went to my local shop was browsing and one of the cashiers walked near where I was and said something smelt like toilet water. Probably the only bad reaction I've had while wearing it.
'Toilet water' is actually a term for fragrance.
@@sst8959 Yeah, but they were just trying to make Lloyd feel bad.
I've never had anyone actually say anything to me, but there were times when I was new to wearing fragrances that I know I was radioactive.
Lots of Women react badly to Tom Ford fragrances. The leather, oud, and tobacco scents have limited appeal.
Those notes are cougar bait.
@@phantomspaceman lol
To me Bentley for Men Intense smells less like bug spray, and more like ashtrays. :)
I think it smells like a hot bag of cafeteria garbage filled with soda, baking in the Summer heat.
Really like this series 😂
I wore Lattafa Qaaed over the holidays at my cousin’s place and he complained that the living room smelled like burning incense that traumatized him when he went to church as a kid 😂 He proceeded to open the windows and spray room spray everywhere.
😂😂😂
I layer Kouros (5 sprays) with Megamare (2-3) just on Fridays at work. People will ovoid you, leave you alone and makes for a nice segue into the weekend 😂
Genius
The Joop story I can relate to. A guy I was seeing was showing me his collection and when we got to Joop I was instantly repulsed by it. The smell reminded me of cough syrup, which I associate with alcohol and getting sick. I felt bad cause he really liked it.
About 4 years ago my cousin brought over his bottle of Lagerfeld the OG and I used to wear it in my late teens and early twenties but I smelled it and had to puke because it was so sickingly sweet and said nope never again.
I recently got told by a pregnant woman at work that she could smell my fragrance from outside on the car park while i was inside in the factory fairly big factory too 🤣 it was savauge parfum which i thought sits fairly close and don't push out like the edt yet apparently it's pushing out more than i thought,
Love when you do these type videos!🙌
That's it.
This by far the best segment you got because no reply will be the same
I think people in Poland have much bigger fragrance tolerance than in other countries, that being said there is one particular fragrance that apparently is so loud, it always gets attention.
Great vid Ash 😂. My favorite theme yet. Super funny!!
K edt is one of the stronger designer frags out there. I would try to use it for outdoor events personally or keep the sprays low.
This is timely as just today I was flying from the UK to Spain on holiday and the stewardess warned all us passengers that someone on board has an allergy to fragrances!
Stockholm Syndrome! 😂😂😂. Wear 'em down, Ash! Wear 'em down!
Haha i remember one time at work I wore John Varvatos Dark Rebel. Someone in the lunch room said eww it smells like cigars in here 😢😅
I was a polo wear in high school.
Two sprays of Sauvage Elixir is plenty. Three at the VERY most.
I thought it was too much when I sampled it, I don't understand why it's so popular
Nope. 16 for me
Ya this stuff will gas out a room. I use 1 1/2 . I can see 3 maybe outside at an event
@@moneyparhar if you use 17 or more you actually morph into Johnny Depp
My coworker at the office got a bad allergic reaction, said that her throat was swelling up. Keep in mind I wasn’t wearing perfume on me but wearing a jacket where I had sprayed 4 times of CDNIM EDT…3 days ago…
Man Starry Night...I'm with that guy except I assaulted my own senses. I tried from a sample vial before bed and ended up having to take a shower cause it was keeping me up with its beastly push.
Only 1 spray of dior elixir i learned my lesson 😅
I totally agree with Interlude Man and also it's clone Shaghaf Oud Abyadd. That oregano, oud & smoke( incense) combo does not work for me at all. I sold mine the second day I got it. I know some fragrances take time to understand and enjoy but I have big doubts that Interlude Man would have gotten that much better for my nose.
Shaghaf Oud Aswad is the worst chemical mess after 6 weeks of macerating. I find I’m not a fan of Swiss Arabian or Ajmal houses.
One day I wore Armaf club de suit Silage to work and my co worker said I smelt like for formaldehyde and embalming fluid that they use for dead people….. hey idc I love that stuff lol.
We all have our guilty pleasures... one of mine just happens to be JOOP! 😅
tobacco vanille is terrible... I smelled the atomizer and smells terrible..
but to be honest i need to spray on my arm once to see how it goes... :)
I'm smelling something."
So, not a complaint, but certainly could've been annoying if he didn't believe me and decided to try and go through my stuff or call a dog.
I personally only ever wear 3 sprays of Sauvage Elixir. 1 on each wrist and 1 on the back of my neck.
"Only"
My worst experiences:
1. Perry Ellis by Perry Ellis For Men - smells like blood and bandages
2. Rakaan Swiss Arabian - smells like horrible bathroom cleaner
3. Narciso Rodriguez for Him - smells like funeral
Lets go ash🎉🎉🎉🎉
These are hilarious 😂
@7:18 i know this video is old but my uncle has this and it literally makes my stomach sick every time i get a whiff. It's by far THE WORST fragrance ive ever smelt.
My mom gave me a bottle of Uomo from Avon! It had to be over 30 years old! I smelled that stuff and my soul tried to vacate my body!😂 It had definitely "turned!"
joop homme is really nice to get a whiff in the air if somebody else wears it
Haha I remember Joop Homme when it first came out everyone wore it it was too overpowering patchouli headache potion! Kouros was a fragrance that I always hated it smelled like soap too heavy on the senses!😂
6 sprays of Sauvage Elixir !
You could have killed everybody in the room😂
Mass weapon of destruction.
for me, I could easily tell I was chocking my coworkers out wearing sauvage. Even with like 2 sprays, it was way too much in my office environment where we all sit like 4 ft from each other and often times working side by side on something.
That's why I switched to Luna Rossa Carbon.
The problem is you guys don’t know what you’re doing in the setting Savauge Parfum would perfect
2 to the neck and one on shirt
When people complain about my fragrance, I spray more 😂
ARMAF Sillage smelled like raid bug spray when a room full of my coworkers smelled it… definitely an embarrassing moment. Made me want to throw it away.
The inky smell was really disappointing when I received it. I’m macerating it right now and it’s beginning to smell better. It’s been about a week since beginning
@@wyattc.4455 cap on or off?

I love the smell of raid
Killian Dark Lord nearly cleared out my first period uni class. A guy walked in & said it smelled like a doctor's office
S I X sprays of Savauge Elixir??! I felt bad for using TWO to go see a movie. 6 is sheer madness
Tobacco Vanille is awful, i don't understand how people say it's one of the best smells
I have used like 5 sprays of Mancera Red tobacco in a hot day at school 💀.
No one has complained, a friend told me I smelt like honey
Azzaro Aqua Verde. I though it was a nice ozonic green fragrance that was safe for work. The last time I wore it several people said "What is that!? I don't know it smells like hairspray or something." 😢 That bottle is retired for the time being.
Sounds like you just need to wear it outside.
Joop! I love it. Only one spray on the chest though.
11:00 If someone told me that while wearing Jazz Club i would burst out laughing
That was really entertaining thanks Ash
Interlude Man got me the worst feedback I ever received wearing a fragrance. After spraying it on my forearm ata niche perfume store I went to Sephora because my wife wanted to check out some makeups and the salesman there literally covered his nose and said someone there was smelling like old cigars mixed with some oil that people use to polish wood furniture.
They were just trying to make a sale, and sway you away from their competitior.
i have had 3 comments on sauvage elixir, smells like fly spray.i agree never again will i wear it.
Amazing review ❤
