    If I like a fragrance, I wear it for those better times during the year. If I love a fragrance, I wear it whenever I feel like it. The most positive way to enjoy and appreciate this hobby is to wear your favorite fragrances whenever and wherever you desire it and forget what everyone else thinks about it because your personal opinion is what counts in this hobby.

    Nice job! I'm from the olden days, you're 100% correct, we bought one "cologne" and wore it for EVERYTHING. I first remember reading an article years and years ago in GQ magazine about a scent for each season...revolutionary! Wear what you like when and where you like, but try to be respectful of the environment is a good rule of thumb.

    Very refreshing to see a video that's not necessarily a review but more informational. I think a lot of folks have some of these misconceptions, so great job addressing these. Love your channel, I have my own review channel and yours is very inspiring for me and I genuinely thank you for doing such a great job.

    Temperatures changes everywhere even in your room. just think about summertime. When you turn your AC on it goes from hot to cold and winter time heater is constantly coming on to keep the house or the room warm. So where is it really safe?

    • @agriperma
      @agriperma Рік тому +3

      I can understand that extreme heat, can destroy a fragrance, but then I think about the millions of people that have perfumes, and don't have AC, think about France or the Middle east, they been making perfumes for centuries, and they have hot summers, cold winters, some live in the desert heat, others in freezing weather. and yet they use perfumes. are modern perfumes that much delicate? maybe certain note oils or chemicals, are more susceptible to damage. I had a couple cheap perfumes, I wasn't worrying about losing, kept them in the car glove compartment, over the summer, in South Florida. and, nothing bad happened to them. they smelled and performed the same way they did, when I got them. so i think this issue with heat sensitivity depends more on the oils used. also, of course, maybe the heat would shorten the life span, but if have it in your car, it's probably a gym scent (like I was using it for) and you go through them faster anyway.

    I have found that skin chemistry also affects longevity and sillage.
    Generally, my skin will project almost anything pretty fiercely.
    As a for instance, when I wear Dolce & Gabbana’s “The One Parfum” I use only four sprays and that’s plenty.
    Another example is Dior Sauvage “Elixir”. Two sprays is enough. More than that and people and people react negatively.

    The new Valentino born in Roma coral fantasy is an edt and that is what I expected, however the performance absolutely slaps. It lasts a very long time. Atleast a whole workday and the dry down is heavenly. I’m honestly annoyed because I wanted it to be lighter and fresher.

    Hey Dallas, great topic. Lots of these rumors or just wives tales for sure. There’s one that I have genuine questions about tho. Do you have any info on fragrances, their use of phthalates and how those may affect our health long term. Is there anything that can be spoken to in that regard? Would be great to hear not just thoughts, but verifiable info please.

    Here's a question for the more knowledgeable fragrance people - Is (non-lighted) medicine cabinet storage in bathrooms okay? I keep a good number of my bottles in a medicine cabinet in my bathroom, which initially seems like it might be a bad idea. BUT! I always shower with the door open, so steam never builds up, and I suspect the temperature inside that medicine cabinet stays very stable since at the end of the shower there's only a bit of condensation on the mirror front at the very top (indicating that the glass is cooler than the surroundings, which implies the interior is cooler than the surroundings). My thought is that there's probably a non-zero but minimal impact on the lifespan of the bottles, but that I'm also likely fine.

    • @GymJones865
      @GymJones865 Рік тому +1

      I wouldn’t store my fragrances in the bathroom due to the temperature fluctuations. Fragrances last longer when stored at a constant, cool, not cold, temperature out of direct sunlight. Even with the door open, there will still be temperature fluctuations. In the short term, this will probably be negligible. I’m guess it really depends on how long you plan on having the fragrances around , how many you have, and how much they cost. I’ll do everything I can to protect my $300 Roja, Initio, and Parfums de Marley fragrances.

    Like your comment on "weak EDTs". I have a sealed bottle of Armani Eau pour Homme. I've used up a couple 100ml bottles before this one. And I will put that glorious evening scent against ANY modern day EDP and maybe many parfums. Think of what time frame is involved here and how far back this cologne goes. True classic and will outshine most any modern day EDP easily!

    I have a question that wasn't really covered specifically...Do fragrances evaporate over time, even when kept out of direct sunlight and in climate controlled area? Or is evaporation part of the "maceration" process?

    • @winterlantern5695
      @winterlantern5695 Рік тому

      Yes, fragrances still evaporate. Unless you can vaccum seal the perfume, there will be evaporation. I have perfume that is 15 years old, 1 still in the box, uncared for & unfortunately tipped sideways as I was young and it's evaporated by 5-10ml. Opened version evaporated faster at a shorter time. I also have a very cheap fragrance same age, used, in tin can but that's changed color & seems a little sus.

    I found your thoughts on testers particularly important. Too many people think testers are somehow different than full presentation. That wouldn't make sense, as a company would get a bad reputation very quickly if their customers bought a fragrance based on having tried it out of a tester bottle, then found it to be different when they began wearing their newly acquired fragrance.
