Fantastic interview, one of a kind, you rarely hear singers talk this honestly about their struggles and range. Eric is a one of a kind, natural high voice, must have had to relearn how to sing once it 'broke' at 40!
Yes, it is unbelievable. I have done other interviews with other singers and it is difficult to find the transparency that Eric has here. I imagine he was comfortable, and that was key. He is a great singer and a great honest person. Greetings from Barcelona ! Cheers !
I really appreciate this video, because hearing Martin's voice for the first time really shock me when I was a kid, having already heard a lot of singers live. I thought he was a woman or just he just reach to sing like that on records only, just I couldn't explain to myself how he was capable to sing that way. Now I know it was hard work only, and good teachers.
Thanks for doing this interview and posting it! I've been doing an extensive study on Eric's vocal range that's involved going through his entire discography from beginning to end and compiling all the highest and lowest notes (which has been no small task), and in the process I've gotten very familiar with his vocal evolution over the years. It was really interesting to listen to this and hear him talk about some of the vocal issues he's had in his later years, and get a direct explanation from him as to how his voice changed and evolved as time went by.
Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, I did a very similar job with Ian Gillan, singer of Deep Purple. Today it can still be read in the book "Will I get to that note? - Vocal technique of the greats of Hard Rock". The collaboration and contribution of other singers like Eric Martin was excellent to understand the evolution of the vocal organ. Yes, it was a relaxed interview on the tour bus. Singers are subjected to a lot of stress with the voice during the days in a row on a tour, and I think that this day Eric Martin appreciated the understanding of a humble singing teacher who is a follower of his work, so he was sincere and very honest. It's not usual to get this atmosphere, but we did. Eric is not only a great singer, he is also a great person.
Thank you very much ! Yes, for some reason I don't know, Eric was very comfortable and very expresive with this subject about vocal tecnic. I was very good luck. Greatings from Barcelona. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻✊😜✌🏻
The experience of a great singer is always a great lesson. To enjoy. Ah .. and I recommend this book, although it is in Spanish, but it is all this thematic. A greeting.
"No good new singers since Graham Bonnet and David Coverdale" God I hate when people say shit like that. Maybe you should actually listen to some newer music.
Thanks for your comment. I think Eric Martin is very humble and recognizes the great teachers for whom he has great respect. Of course there are great later singers, but the industry has not allowed them to work. I think you are referring to this detail.
I bet you restored EM's faith in humanity. Finally he was asked meaningful questions. Different questions. He must get so tired of being asked about how young he looks. You took it to another level. Awesome!

I love the changes of his voice... its beautiful. 🥰🥰
very entertaining and surprisingly honest interview. I don't think I've ever heard a singer discuss his vocal issues so candidly as Eric does.

I appreciate his honesty. I so relate to this. You rarely get to hear this kind of shop talk.

Gran documento, bien por subirlo,..así no se pierde.
Efectivamente lsehabía perdido, pero Sandra conservaba el archivo original y lo hemos recuperado. Una suerte después de tantos años.
great interview. it was nice to hear Eric relaxed.
Yes. A great time, and an interview gem. Many singers must learn from Eric.
i was looking for that kind of interview forever. Thank you very much!

En Perú está prohibido fumar en lugares públicos, así que, aquí los artistas pueden cantar libres de humo tóxico 😊
