    that signature chord around 3:40 is a major 9th for anyone who wondered. Very pretty.

    I think they used it but weren't aware what they were doing is called. They knew what they wanted to hear and how to do it, but I doubt page was like "Hmmm, Lydian sounds swell with this Maj7(#11)"

    @amjan
    there isnt any, its just how he talks. hes saying a lot of other information, but it doesnt seem like anyone is paying much attention because they keep focusing on how he speeks rather than what hes saying. "style" over "substance."

  • @Cambrand
    @Cambrand 13 років тому

    @Gmeister616 I recognize that but I'd say it has to do with the fact that sometimes you can't really play it well, but you get away with it playing it fast, especially with distortion and all.

    Chris Storey, former guitarist of All Shall Perish. Kind of an underground guitarist but he's AMAZING, and very similar style to Rusty Cooley. He said he just plays what sounds cool :P

    Page was a session musician playing jazz stuff. So he definitely knew theory. Not sure about Hendrix, but George Lynch said one time in an interview that he knew it.

    See, that's the thing with musical tastes. Let's put it this way: You love Bulb, I love Periphery. None of the aforementioned views will make any of these groups undeniably better or worse over the other. Avoid statements, favour opinions. If your comment was intended to be an opinion ignore this post.

      A song off of Periphery's first CD. It's called Buttersnips. It's the song he's actually teaching parts to in these first few lessons.

    @ArseLoad0fMetal666 It's not a fad man, fads don't have this kind of input in the metal scene. The speed at which this style grew from 2005 to now is crazy, i mean Metalcore became really big really really fast, but then it started shrinking.
    But djent keeps growing. It's a really rythmic form of metal and even if it never becomes recognized as it's own style the influence it already had in metal will stick around as long as metal will.

  • @XxTRIPPINGxxGUITARxX

    What chords is he tapping over?

    • @xaptronic
      @xaptronic 8 років тому +3

      Bb maj 9 - with maj 3 and maj 7 (assuming drop d - however I think this actually in drop C so it would be A maj 9)
      8-8-10-7-10-x
      Root Fifth Ninth Third Seventh

  • @madmax18840

    @ArseLoad0fMetal666 Yeah djent is a form of guitar technique, not a genre. That's like saying sweeps are a genre or tapping is a genre.

  • @DSoverPSP

    not a djent fan as i feel it will unfortunately become another fad genre, but i rlly feel this is real music from real ppl. Not like this whole metalcore and deathcore fad that is more about haircuts, hipsters and trying to mosh thn anything else....Misha fucking rocks at guitar too

    Very true, however people are trained in public speaking, clearly Misha has not recieved such training haha. The point of my comment was that people are not focusing on the subject of the actual video but on the speaking habits of the person in the video. While he fits the defintion of someone speaking publicly, I do not consider him a public speaker.
