Great video. Beyond the tips themselves, learned a lot about how to think about improving investigations. Thank you! Subscribed. Keep up the good work!
@Christopheromoan Thank you kindly! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I didn't really feel like doing a straght up review format since as I say, I wouldn't be bothering to make this if I didn't like it! And specifically with this and the Haunting, Seth and other great channels have covered this ground EXTENSIVELY. I gave a shout out to Seth in my own The Haunting vid because ya have to, he is indisputably the big daddy of CoC guidance.
@@therocketboost Sooo it was really really fun and i think it worked really well. I am so glad about the advice to disperse the clues! One player who i've told afterwards said that this was much better then she would have imagined the big info and handout dump the beginning usually would be. Also having de vermiis mysteriis already stolen was helpful and bertrand as a minor antagonist worked well. So thanks for that advice! I also amped up the MP cost for the ritual (doubled it in fact) which led to the player characters having to care about the cost and even tapping into their hit points, which make the cost actually meaningful.
It took us 5 hours to complete the scenario. No one died, but it was a very close call and we had some bouts of madness and they just successfully managed to complete the ritual and banish the lurker. So fortunately there was a lot of tension and sense of danger.
Wow... these are very good modifications indeed. I read the scenario but always felt something is missing or not adding up with it. Seeing so many issues with otherwise good scenarios, campaigns that Chaosium is putting out there, I wonder why they don't just give ot out to some good GMs to actually review those scenarios with a fresh eye and comment on it. I bet many would do it for free (or a free copy perhaps) and a mention in the credits.
I like your idea about spreading out the handouts, but I fear this will add an hour of playtime and I chose this module for a convention timeslot. The book having been stolen years ago, possibly by the Dark Brotherhood, is something I will definitely implement.
@Lemonrollcake Cheers! Yeah, admittedly dispersing the clues does pad the runtime. 100%. But that dead stop for reading the letter, the journal, and the deed, right after the cough death is always a bugbear. You COULD split the difference by foregoing the bank entirely and have just the housekey and letter at the hospital, dumping everything else with Agnes (making sure to drop the hints from her and Bertrand to go there), as that's mostly flavour anyway! But totally understand running the clues as written to keep things tight. Hope the convention game goes wonderfully and thanks for watching!
@RobWilsonCo Thanks! By sheer coincidence, I'm actually going to run the Chariot of the Gods scenario for the Alien RPG soon. Once I do, I'll have some practical experience to have an opinion, though I already have some thoughts on it...
@@RobWilsonCo Thanks for the advice! Am almost through the second episode. Still waiting to run it but definitely getting some solid prep seeing it run with such a solid group.
These are great modifications! Thank you
Kind of you to say. Glad you enjoyed it and thank YOU for watching!

@brown1971 Thank you kindly! Glad to help!
Hey. Fantastic content.
I also love how you contrast to Seth Skorkowsky’s review style with a more Tips to Run focus.

Great content, i'll be using most of your suggestions in my upcoming session this weekend! Thanks a lot!
@uzixx Glad to be of service! Hope it helps and hope you have a grand time!
Great suggestions and improvements, thank you!
I hope they come in handy. Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
you've earned a subscriber . This is super useful
Mwuhahahahahaaaaaa...ahem, I mean thank you.
Perfect Timing, i will run this scenario next weekend and i think i will probably implement some of those modifications!

@aiby0nznvnwbmss537 Wonderful!! Fantastic to hear it. Interesting idea about the magic points. I may up them myself next time I run it!
Great screanio. And great content.
Kind of you to say!
Btw please do more call of cthulhu content 😬
@uzixx Haha noted! I'll definitely return to CoC but will be bouncing to another system or two first. Gotta keep my brain happy with some variation!
Great points made!

@Zoleeca You're too kind! Thank you. Tonally, I think it's a great module but just needs a bit of shaking up to engage players.
Create timing. I have to admit it is my first session ever as gm
@@Aloddff You're gonna do great.

Love the modifications. Great job. More CoC tips work for me or Alien RPG….

I agree that Goonies is more relevant than the explorers!
