Let me explain because I can't believe Shaka is an R9 fan and don't know his history. R9 was literally winning everything before and for the 1st year after injury. He never played CL fit. PSV weren't in CL Barce weren't either nor Inter when he went he won europa league 2 seasons in a row motm in both finals 2 different teams. He then got that injury 99 when inter qualified for CL and was out for almost 3 years. They got eliminated without him in the quarter finals. R9 then went to Madrid and that's where he played his 1st proper CL when he scored that hattrick at old Tradford. They reached the semis and guess what happened the 2nd leg R9 was injured. They won the league and 3 trophies that year also Makelele was there. They reached the quarters the following year and guess what happened again R9 was injured for the 2nd leg then they got eliminated. After that R9 was injury prone. This is why of not for injuries he would have been the GOAT without debate and would have probably won 2006 world cup as well. You can Google those injuries at those moments
I love and I value the conversation of Brazilian ronaldo i also share the same opinion and the majority of the views that were shared in the conversation about him. He's one of the greats top 5 of all time and that's a legitimate statement based on the point of view of football experts x legends etc.. but the one thing I don't agree about is rating him or grading his level of success by ballon d'Ors as bank in his time and zezo time the ballon d'Or wasn't of the same level of importance as today actually the FIFA BEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR was the highest individual award that can be collected. And he won that one 3 times
You’re one of the few who remember. Balon d’or used to just be European footballer of the year not a global award. I think the problem was merging fifa and balon d’or which gave balon d’or more credibility and reduced the fifa award. Ronaldo is the finest player in the 90’s. I just hate how people tend to disrespect him.
The FIFA World Player of the Year award was the most prestigious individual award back then just as the Ballon d'Or is now. The FIFA The Best award has as much prestige now as the Ballon d'or had back then.

That's why I always say "Cristiano"....I never refer to the Portuguese as 'Ronaldo'. Actually R9 used to go by Ronaldinho then when he switched to Ronaldo, 10R had to take Ronaldinho whose name is ironically Ronaldo also
Besides the fragile Patellar Tendons which gave out in both of his knees, Ronaldo R9 (most of us die hard fans still call him Ronaldiñho... the other guy is Ronaldiñho Gaucho to us) he suffered from Hypothyroidism which caused his weight gain issues. I think this more than anything did him in, because it came to the point where he just couldn't perform to his unbridled capacity. Still had the skill, but just couldn't execute. It's unfortunate, but what incredible memories he left for us to look back and enjoy.
That 96-99 age 19-22 Ronaldo was spectacular. But not better than 19-22 Maradona. Watched them both back then, during those ages. Ronaldo was more explosive, dribbling at a far more explosive speed & tempo. But Maradona was more slippery, dribbling in & out defender's. A far better playermaker, teamplayer, freekick taker, ball passer & his ball handling skills were on the supernatural level. ( a cross between Pelé & Dinho ). The modern game however has gone more into Ronaldo's territory, were speed, power athleticism, fast tempo, are it's stable diet.

Ariel Ortega and Juan Roman Riquelme seemed on another level whenever I saw them against England but I never really got to see them play in their respective leagues. They could both run fast and dribble through player after player. At least against English players lol
Robinho was way to slow to be even the greatest of his era. Maybe if he would have work out to become stronger and change his position on the pitch would have had a chance, but as a winger no way.
As far as I know his stats decline after joining inter milan. Before Inter Milan he scored 145 goals in 153 games for Barcelona, PSV and Cruzeiro. In his first season at Inter Milan he scored 34 goals in 47 matches. Next season he score 15 goals in 28 matches. Together before injury in Inter Milan R9 scored 49 goals in 75 games. Also another fact was that he got rare disease in his career which he have to retire in 34 age. He should never went to Inter Milan. So wrong career moves destroyed his career.
have you ever seen Ronaldo in 97-98 season with inter milan? He carried the team at the top level winning uefa cup and got second place in serie a (the toughest league ever) just behind juventus who did 3 champions league finals in a row (96-97-98) only because inter milan got robbed in the match against juve. He is head and shoulders above everyone else in whole career absolute stats and so-called "official matches" relative stats, including goals, assists, team goal contribution... whichever way one looks at the data. If limited to big matches, such as finals, he is a country mile ahead, better stats than Messi and CR7 combined. He was the most complete no. 10 ever, with his videos showing him having all of Messi and CR7's skills in addition to inventing several more of them. His achievements are also superior to everyone else with 3 World Cups and 10 international trophies overall, and scores of trophies at club level, including the local, national, continental, and intercontinental level. His winning percentage is like 80%. Objectively speaking, no one else comes anywhere close to him.
R9 is still top 3 ever for me
Yes R9 was unplayable
@@nascimentoarantes you just affirmed to the long held thought I had since back when my uncle told me sometime in the late 90s but a few years later it turned out footballer who're not from Europe also were nominated so I was like nevermind... Idk when the merge happened but it shouldn't have been quickly forgotten that things were not regarded or credited the same way let alone players didn't qualify on the basis of nationalities.
R9 was so good that only god could stop him 🐐
Capital ‘G’ for God pls
R9 has the highest precision rate when using exotic skill... precision is how many time the exotic skill meant meaningful upon total takes
I didnt get to watch r9 in his prime i only watch him at 2006 world cup when i started to understand football only watch him on vedio but am a cr7 fan but for me Ronaldinho was the one that made love football
R9 is the greatest player ever period in his prime. Dude was the greatest at 18 !!! Had tougheat defenders from italy on skates
R9 was, is and will always be the one and only Football Son of God. Never there will be anyone who even come close to the Football Son of God Always i got extremely much tears in my eyes, tears of pure happiness, when i saw Il Fenomeno.💪❤️❌Ronaldo Luis Nazário De Lima❌❤️💪
Quaresma
Was scrolling just to see his name ..
we cannot normalise calling him "Brazilian Ronaldo"... He should be called Ronaldo and the other guy Cristiano Ronaldo
That's why I always say "Cristiano"....I never refer to the Portuguese as 'Ronaldo'. Actually R9 used to go by Ronaldinho then when he switched to Ronaldo, 10R had to take Ronaldinho whose name is ironically Ronaldo also
Which is actually the case though. They call him the real Ronaldo
He pretty much missed 3 years of football because of those knee injuries
Shaka, now after i heard you saying those words u r my lad ! I AGREE COMPLETELY ❤
Recoba - the greatest unfulfilled talent. One of the most talented players of all time.
facts on R9 Hislop
to come back from torn ACL and win the world cup 😮
Ronaldinho could of been the best ever if he didn’t like to party so much. They way he played made most of us love the game today.
Everytime they say Ronaldo won 2 world cup and is the greatest they dont mention that he didn't play 1minute in the first tournament
Thank You 😂 these old Fokes will try and say any BS just to discredit Messi as the Goat..Some make Pele, Maradona and R9 as some gods .when they just had incredible abilities ..Messi is CLEAR by miles .. Nostalgia sentimentality BS
Please check fat ronaldos numbers before injuries. Check also he's running at players and taking them on. There's a good chance you won't but you can make an estimation of what would have happened if he was injury free. I'm assuming you are a reasonable person.
@@Catalan012 you can’t force everyone to think how you want accept people have their own goats and be free. Everyone watches football and enjoy it differently
Just like they don't mention how only team Pele played against in 1962 is Mexico when they talk about the "3 World Cups"

2 Gold and 1 Silver. 3 medals in a row.

They didn’t achieve everything, Ronaldo never won the champions league

@@vincenzoriccio5036 Thank you.
Balotelli and Pato are my biggest disappointments in modern era. Pato injury crisis for about 4 years straight totally derailed his career, Balotelli all mental. Both are very sad stories.
Pato was something else at AC Milian. His explosive pace coupled with his finishing. He was like Mbappe before Mbappe
@@o̸ණ I have always had him ahead of Neymar. Pato and Neymar are the last 2 great talents to come out of Brazil.
Everybody here is saying Brazilian Ronaldo this and that like Messi isnt all these things and more. Every attacking aspect of the game Messi has reached the peak of. I can't recall R9 being great at freekicks and im sure there is more. Im not playing down R9 but these people are too quick to forget what Messi has done when they start talking about their legend. Messi has the ability, plus he's doing all else.
Is yesterday u born
You are kid....because if you are not, you would know that Brazilian Ronaldo was scoring free kicks in inter milan
Yes r9 had everything injuries killed his career but he also didnt like to train loved to party and loved to eat. So would what coud have been who knows. It is what it is
C. Ronaldo and Messi have already shown the absolute pinnacle of what a footballer can do
Adriano too
R9 was so good that another Ronaldo had to be renamed Ronaldinho. Let that sink in.
R9s prime is unmatched. Completely unplayable
completely disagree. i have seen someone like ronaldo. messi, at 19 he was crazy very agressive, people forget how suicidal was messi. cant control young messi. ypu can say becasue ronadlo do more trick, you like him more, but messi was insane, like ronaldo
Neymar has more raw ability than Ronaldinho. He has the most skill of anyone all time. Other than maybe Messi and Pele.
Romario for me.
Italy at the time was the most competitive league in the world and had the best defensive players
have you ever seen Ronaldo in 97-98 season with inter milan? He carried the team at the top level winning uefa cup and got second place in serie a (the toughest league ever) just behind juventus who did 3 champions league finals in a row (96-97-98) only because inter milan got robbed in the match against juve. He was unplayable that season.
Ronaldo had hypothyroidism
Excuse for him not wanting to put the fork down
@@kyreseeugene8981 Thats not even the problem... The problem was the knee injury...Even when he came to play in Brazil in his last year of career he was still amazing.
Ok, Shaka you are crazy for elevating Neymar so high. Only Ronaldinho more gifted on the ball? Ummm Maradona! George Best. Zidane! Garrincha. Messi! Please, Shaka Stop right there.

Brazilian Ronaldo in his prime is equally as good if not better than prime Messi or prime Cristiano Ronaldo it's just that his prime years were nowhere near as long as CR7 or Messi!!!!
Adriano
Shoulda woulda coulda - 2 chains
Pato, Bojan, Dele Alli, Gio Dos Santos, Ganso, Oscar, Halilovic
Was a tank unstoppable at his peak haven't seen the likes sinse
@Shaka Hislop: As unplayable as pre-injury R9 was, a young Pele was at another level. Football has not seen anyone close to a young Pele. Check out his data, skills, and achievements. No ones comes close.
Pele is like Doctor Jay. They were good for their time but they weren't Jordan or R9. Not to mention so many of Peles padded stats.
@@Mav2208 Who is Dr Jay? Had to look him up. Comparing Pele, the most iconic player of all time, the Athlete of the Century, to an NBA star must be one of the silliest comparisons ever made. Pele in football is at least as good as Michael Jordan was at basketball, but almost certainly better. Shaka Hislop obviously doesn't know the data (he doesn't know whether R9 won the Balon d'Or); his subjective opinion is not informed by complete datasets of players. However, he is genuine in his assumptions. People like you on the other hand are terrible, blatantly spreading misinformation such as "padded stats." Each and every goal and assist of Pele is very well recorded in multiple sources and scritinized and assessed over the years. Multiple organizations has done that. And irrespective of which organization's dataset one chooses, Pele is always at the top. No one so far has been able to come close.
@@Mav2208pele is .. according to many Brazilian journalists.. still.. the best ever. People that saw the games.

R9 Ronaldo was better than Cristiano fake Ronaldo, and I can make that jusgement having seen both players outaide of youtube clips. Kids these days don't know how legendary he was in his ability. Greatest striker of all time. Cristiano will be remembered for chasing after Messi lol.
Ravel Morrison looked like he was going to be an incredible player and showed brief glimpses of it except he was a complete knucklehead, huge wasted talent and he was a complete waste of talent he achieved zero in the game.
