Thanks for watching our best attempt at cleaning our own houseboat 😂. Anyone out there have tips on how to get the job done faster next time? Or should we just hire someone to help us from the get-to this year? Let us know your suggestions in the comments👇.
Thank you for saying that! We're experimenting with how to show more of what it's like when we're actually living on the houseboat, in addition to sharing what we learn. So we appreciate your kind words. We'll likely keep tweaking this particular kind of video, and glad to hear you enjoyed it.
We love Lake Lanier and usually rent a house on the lake once a year. We usually trailer our boat from our home in Sarasota, FL. I've been thinking about buying a house boat and using that as our 2nd home/lake house. If you don't mind me asking, how much are slips going for? I'd be getting a 60-80' boat and I do understand that the covered slips bring a premium $$. I like the area that you guys are in and the south part of the lake. I also love the front patio that comes with your slip. On another note, Dory looks just like my Britney Spaniel except for the tail.. Nice boat and great looking family,, keep up the good work.
Derrick, thank you for the comment and watching our video. I have family that recently move to Sarasota from Clearwater. Lake Lanier is a Great Lake for house boating. Do you rent the same house every year, or do you rent different house every time? An uncovered 80 foot slip will be $780/month give or a take a bit. We prefer the uncovers slip so we can get some sun. Also if any dock neighbors are having a party, the sound echos a lot under the cover. This doesn’t happen on our dock but several docks over we can hear a big party. Its just personal preference to have a covered slip or not. Dory is a lot like a Britney but with a bit less energy. We also got a Britney! They are also so sweet like Welshies.
@@DeepHouseboatLife Thank you for the fast response,, We've tried to rent from the same person but usually the availability of the house hasn't worked with our schedule and my dog travels with us which limits the places that are willing to rent to us. We're looking to come up there this November, and possibly look at some houseboats. The $780/quarter isn't that bad compared to the $650 per month that I've been paying for my 42' Cruiser. We had considered moving our Cruiser up to the lake but I think that a houseboat is a better fit for us. We sold the Cruiser this past year. Both Delta and Southwest fly direct from Sarasota to ATL several times a day so getting there isn't a problem. Plus, this gives me a real reason to purchase our own airplane. lol
Derrick, I made an error. The slips with a patio, that is 80 foot is 780/month not a quarter. I did my math wrong. The fall and winter are usually the best times to look for a houseboat.
Next time try using a soft scrub brush like the kind at a car wash. It'll take half the time and do a better job...trust me I've been in the marine industry for over 30 years.
What about the bimini top? I didn't see you cleaning it & I was thinking if you didn't clean it & treat it than you really didn't clean it from top to bottom...just asking 😅🙃😉
Hey Robert! Thank you for watching our video. We have really nice neighbors who don’t mind at all. Our boats are about 12 feet apart so there isn’t much, if any, over spray from the pressure washer. No pun intended but we are all in the same boat when it comes to washing our boats and know that a little overspray is fine. Hope this answers your question and that you have a great weekend!

Thank you! That is a great suggestion. The bristle brush we use doesn’t always seem to do a good job

Haha yes, you are correct on that. When we hired someone to help us finish cleaning the boat, they took care of that part.
@@DeepHouseboatLife I'm at lazy days looking for someone to clean my party top who do you recommend?
Question: How do the neighbors feel about overspray when you are so close together?

I don’t so much mind cleaning the boat. It’s the waxing that I hate
