it's possible. When i think about many employee groups, many didn't even received their retroactive raise since the last 2-3 years still negotiating the raise due to inflation. So commodity prices went u during the last few years while salaries remained the same. The day people get all those retroactive raise + the big check of what's owed the inflation could very well spike
Don't agree at all. U.S. companies are going bankrupt left and right. People losing jobs don't have money to spend. The inflation report next week is up in the air because of seasonality, but fall inflation will show a massive decrease in inflation. September cuts coming!

Just a little correction; the BoJ is not looking to keep inflation high. Their meeting notes from Aug 5 showed they were very much concerned on inflation overshooting in the face of a weaker yen with rising costs of imports and companies looking to push those costs to consumers.
