The PRIDE is our FAVORITE cruise ship, hands down. She is convenient out of Baltimore, has a great crew and we have NO faults with her!!!!.....

I have sailed on the Pride twice, including a New Year’s Eve Cruise before it’s dry dock when the specialty restaurant was called David’s Steakhouse. I had New Year’s Eve dinner there with some friends,
And I really, really, like that ship, especially the Serenity deck, I was there so often that I developed a great friendship with not only the bartenders but the lifeguards on duty there as well.
And having a retractable roof over one of the pool decks came in handy when we had some rainy weather on one of our port visits, and the European Feel of the ship with it’s decor was awesome, it reminded me of being in a Old Fancy European Hotel, and you are right about the ships layout not making you feel crowded, even on the New Years Eve Cruise There were plenty of places around the ship to relax and enjoy yourself. I look forward to sailing on her again.

I wish I could say we LOVE this ship but 2 non smokers are choked out on the Pride with the casino. We just cannot breathe with the amount of smoke that is all over. Older ship does not have good air system in casino and we love to spend a little time in the casino.

Unfortunately, that's the case on most of the ships. Some of the newer ships have nonsmoking casinos which are awesome! Thanks for watching and posting!

Re: Pride- Ditto, been on this ship twice, pre pandemic. Loved it the first time, staff was uppity (matre d chastised me about dining room times as if it was my fault because I booked late and got a good rate, when it was their fault they mixed up our time with another person with the last name at boarding- now we book open and eat early) but everything was on point. Second time our cabin was the deck below one of the buffet food areas, so you could hear metal carts rolling over metal floors/connectors ALL the time. I don’t mind white noise, like engines and vibrations. As long as the seas aren’t too rough it’s not bad. If they crank them up due to bad weather or other delays it is more noticeable. So aft was fine for me, less so for the hubby.
Also the second cruise, our balcony roof was extremely rusted and flapped in any cross breeze, (add to that a noisy neighbor who slammed all their doors, not realizing the wind tunnel effects,) so we were bombarded with noise all night and all day. So I didn’t sleep hardly the whole cruise. The second trip boarding and deboarding was less organized and seemed to take a lot longer. The staff seemed overworked to the point of demoralizing them.
We’ve been nervous about going back out post pandemic, because of the number of sick ships, accidents and malfunctions, but seeing this made me nostalgic. We live near Baltimore so, this might be in our future. lol! my only issue with cruising is everything is an upsell. Photo ops, upgraded this or that. We get the balcony room, we eat in the dining room- for couples, don’t have kids. We like shows, the casino, the food, and just chilling. I don’t want to fight for a seat in the adult area, I don’t want to fight 6 snotty kids for runny eggs and the last of the watered down juice. So if it’s back to like it was I’m in, if it’s anything like my second cruise, I will be disappointed.
That chopped up floor plan you don’t like is what I loved once I figured it out. There was always somewhere I could go for a quiet moment to myself with either nice interior or exterior views.
I did also notice the upper level glass, but the wind at the bow of this ship when moving is substantial, perhaps as a result of the design or something, but when we tried to find a cigar smoking spot and checked out all the walk arounds, we realized just how strong that wind is!

Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for some good like/dislike videos of the Pride since the Dry Dock. I have a sailing on her in May 2024.

How was your experience?? I am setting sail in a couple months myself.

@@RealMrFlushable all in all I enjoyed the ship a lot more than I thought that I would.
It’s a medium sized ship so it’s easy to get around and to find things. But yet there is enough to do and see. But plenty of quiet areas also - and that’s what I like.
The serenity deck was in a great spot in the rear of the ship. Partially shaded spots, but plenty of spots in the sun also.
The food overall was average. Not great, but you have to pick and choose the good stuff.
The crew and staff all outstanding.
I always plan cruises at times without kids and families and such, so that factored into my experience.
But the key in the end is that when we got home we booked The Pride again in 2025. (And that’s saying something because, quite frankly, Carnival is my least favorite of the cruise lines on which I’ve sailed.)

Is there a non smoking casino?

    • @cruisetripplanner

There is not a non-smoking casino but there may be a section of the casino that is non-smoking if I remember correctly.

so was the buffet food you didn;t like at the main dinning room? or this was different?

    • @cruisetripplanner
      @cruisetripplanner  4 місяці тому

The main dining room food was great but service did seem slow. The buffet food was not as good as what we have had on other Carnival ships. Most often cold and seemed undercooked.

Dislike #4, glass barriers - don't blame Carnival, blame the stupid people who "fall off" the ship and sue.
