In this brand new video by rapper/performer Sofia Ashraf, she refutes the biggest misleading claims put out by Unilever about the company's ongoing mercury contamination in Kodaikanal, India.
1:15 "1.3 Tonnes guys, that's the weight of a fully grown bear dressed head to toe in mallu wedding jewellery" Best analogue ever! XD
This is awesome. No, not the mercury spillage, that's tragic. But the video is awesome.
It deserves musch more views and much more attention.

Love you to bits Sophia... for everything that you are doing for this campaign.
I have already boycotted HUL products after seeing your first video.
The TRICLOCARBAN ( yes ending with BAN) is among the other ingredients in their LIFEBOUY liquid hand soap. This is to be banned by end of the year in the US and Europe or the product taken off the shelves. I wonder if they will follow suite here too.
THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR YOUR EFFORTS.
way to go sister! all the support!
who the fuckers disliked this video 😑😑😑😑
HUL executives
Way to go Sofia ! Absolutely thrilled to see you do a follow-up video on this sickly mess. That's the way you nail them... keep going, we are with you till the end, to see the residents of Kodaikanal and their natural heritage get justice !
sickest edit i have ever seen on youtube that isn't overdone, great job editor!
Thanks for the video! Very informative. Good luck out there. I believe in you guys.
& Have you considered doing another music video? ;)
great going... love this campaign
This is so brilliantly conveyed.
This is preposterous. But going by how long Union Carbide took to cough up/own up this is going to be a long battle. Hopefully pressure from international media/social media should help hasten things.
I insisted my friends and family not to use of any of the products of Unilever from Paste, Powder and Soap to all other house hold items which produced by Unilever, ever since when i saw the first video of Sofia Kodaikanal won't, and we stopped using it nearly about 2.0 years. If the same stance continues to go further without cleaning up the mess dumped in the Kodaikanal, i am sure that we would never ever going to use any of the products of Unilever in our life and notwithstanding that i would suggest everybody whether it is my relatives or surroundings not to use Unilever products. Lets say no to Unilever products- Comment down below either if you boycott using Unilever products already or wish to do so. Lets hope it would reach down the CEO of Unilever.
Very serious issue. Peoole sign the petition.
Fantastically informative
Excellent point by point rebuttal!
Good video, would've been better if you added links to what you were saying so people can research it themselves as well.
Let's forget about all the contamination and wildife dying out there and praise this girl for making an entertaining video... You are doing great sofia. - Millenial activists.
Much respect for your efforts.
People have problem with mercury and plastic straws killing marine life, however they seem to be alright with mass fishing for food where millions of fish are suffocated to death every day.
a john oliver style report. love it.
Brilliant!
Ur truly an achieving person. need any help that we public could do is welcomed...
Great video👍 more power to you girl.. we all support you.
great video guys, this is the kind of activism we need to drive out these enemies of humanity
maam ur doing a gr8 job.... hope this climaxes soon ....and people get justice
malu wedding jewelry! (im malu)😂 😂😂😂
So what happened.. The employees got paid by the company for their health issues and its all over...? It's not always about humans you know. It's natual habitat of wildlife and the whole ecosystem of the area which has been severly contaminated and they settled for some money. Let me say very boldly, its would have been a fair trade if there was no envionmental contamination or murcury poisoning of ecosystem and in return all the unilever employees have been died a painful death.
I love you!!!
Unilever must clean up this mess !
u are something...
Powerstar's image was hilarious
Stay safe
she is doing real good job!
good video to save indian ecological system. consider to use their product before what they are doing to our environment. Competently unhealthy
This girl is on fire... Damn sophia u r just awsum!!
I prms I will not buy Unilever product
BUDUXXXX
may be it is good idea to directly present instead of trying to be comic or interesting . People will more like to see a 2 mts video than 5 mts video unless you are Rajani kanth
Hi, I wish everyone thought like you. Anyway, for people who prefer just the facts, here is the video we released with just the points and counterpoints:
Also, if you still prefer to read actual research, here is a more detailed outline:

hi thanks for the info. i have been through the links. some of the sites are giving permitted levels in ppm ... but, generally they are reporting mg/ltr of ground water. I ll have to refer again on the same. It will be lot better like you said permitted Hg levels in UK is 1 mg /kg... if you can post references for the same your presenting will be more stronger .
You have done a great job so far by making people wide across the country conscious about the problem
