God I remember listening to the CreepsMcPasta reading of this a long time ago and thought it was just dead after the updates stopped. Had no idea about the plagiarism because at the time I had never heard of Alan Tutorial. Informative video, really well done.

As possibly the first person to notice the plagiarism, I stand by that claim. Doesn't make sense to DMCA a buncha narrations out of nowhere and repost the 'non-plagiarized' version with fabricated dates. He's covering up to sell 1999 if he can find a buyer.
Judging people in the court of public opinion is always risky and usually not a good idea. But the evidence is so strong and the stakes so low, that I just point and laugh.
“1999 Bizarre Summer” sounds like a familiar song line.

The first Booby episode described is actually possibly an even WORSE case of plagiarism than the AlanTutorial stuff. The trouble is that the Oobi short it's ripping off (Hot Dog and Ketchup) is lost media.
From 1999: "The episode began with Booby trying to get ketchup out of a bottle. It actually showed him beating himself against the bottom of the bottle for a good 3 minutes. Finally another hand came by and looked at Booby. “Together” The other hand said, and it began beating the bottle as well, until some ketchup finally squirted out all over the table (I chuckled slightly at this part). Booby then stared at the ketchup mess for a few seconds, before turning towards the camera as it slowly zoomed in on him.“
From the Oobi wiki: "Oobi is in the kitchen with a hot dog. He wants to add some ketchup, but he has trouble getting it out of the bottle. Uma decides to help, and they end up squeezing the ketchup everywhere. In the end, they decide to share the hot dog together."
We also KNOW that Booby was in the original story because Lamont's former roommate and editor did an AMA where he said the Booby sections were taken out for copyright reasons. I trust that this is at the very least someone who knows him because he backs up Lamont's claims that he was inspired by a weird local show, and the AMA predates the interview, so he couldn't have just read it in the interview.
Also, I have evidence that the updates included the Slack LaLane version were added until 2015 (which disproves Lamont's claim that the story was completed in April 2011 unless he's plagiarizing the wiki user who added that stuff) AND that the blog post used to contain the "How to Dust a Room" section AND the typo that proves that the January 2011 post was supposed to be from January 2014. Unfortunately, because the WayBack Machine's archives have been forced to omit the Creepypasta wiki page, I don't think it would be wise for me to just advertise my source out in the open. I don't want them to be forced to remove their evidence before I have some way of securing it.
But I will leave you with this: the SomeOrdinaryGamers and CreepsMcPasta narrations of 1999 have been reuploaded. Both were originally posted in 2014 and don't contain all of the entries present in the Slack LaLane version that was allegedly posted in 2011. The final posts that they include were dated in the wiki version to be from 2014. Now, ask yourself why they and the entire history of the wiki page were taken down...
This rabbit hole has had me really intrigued for days now. I had no idea such drama was behind a very influential early creepypasta, and I’m surprised bigger creators haven’t discussed it (perhaps because of threats of copyright?). Anyway, the pasta gained traction again after Wendigoons podcast covered it, and as you’ve mentioned, a lot of the older videos covering 1999 are all in the form of reuploads now. What struck an itch in my brain personally was the fact that I remember this creepypasta when I was younger, and I could’ve sworn it had a far different ending than the version we have now, and it all makes sense why. Anyway, I know your comment is 2 years old, but if you somehow read this and have any further information, I’d love to hear it. Your reply piqued my curiosity even more.
When I read this story, I felt that viewing the last tape was pointless for the story since it didn't show anything we didn't already know, but as you pointed out, there actually was a point to it. The acronym shown at the end of the tape was the same one in the Mr. Bear post, giving strong implications that Mr. Bear was indeed the writer of the post and that he was targeting Elliot. Thus we have to assume that Mr. Bear may be the reason for Elliot's abrupt lapse in posting, and not just because the writer decided to end the story there. That's a pretty creative way to imply a bad ending that's left up to the reader's interpretation. It's much better than outright stating at the end that Elliot got killed via a news article or another Mr. Bear post, which is what I've seen in other creepypastas. Still, I wish this detail was made a little more clear, and that the story ended a bit more naturally, because if you hadn't pointed it out I would've just assumed the writer ran out of ideas.

Ahhh, nostalgia, I remember when my brother would read this and I'd try to tell the story through sign language for a friend of mine who didn't know English (and yes, he was reading the Booby version). I had no idea there was so much hidden lore to this story.

To be honest, that what Camden Lamont did was even possible, in terms of falsely copyrighting the video was quite impressive. I'm glad you did get your revenge in the end though.
12:59 I honestly didn't get Jeff the Killer vibes from that scene, since it didn't erupt into an outrageous gun fight or something like that. Elliot just held up his cell phone and gave him the notion he was gonna call the cops, and the said teens just took the notion and backed off, simple as that. No violence involved.
Also I kinda liked the Booby segments, since they sort of added variety to Mr Bear's TV Lineup, and I kinda figured he'd want to have more than like 1 or 2 different shows if he wanted to attract enough victims. A shame they got "removed" (or were not originally part of it, or whatever).
This is still one of my most favorite "Lost show" Creepypastas.
Now I know I'm 5 months late to the party, but I would like to give my own two cents from someone that read the story around its initial postinf, an extra theory you might say. Do note this is coming purely from memory and speculation so it might be all just bullshit my brain made up in some weirdass Mandela effect like thing or whatever. (TL DR: Maybe someone came and added the last entries just for kicks, idk)
Basically, if memory serves right I'm fairly certain the original story on the Creepypasta wiki *was* updated with new entries at around the same dates as written in the story itself, which meant the month long gaps in between entries was real time. (I think the Booby part might have been part of the original story too but I don't remember it that well.) As such, when the 'proper' ending was reached, there was a good window of time where people speculated the story might not be over, since like you said it felt kinda sudden and unsatisfying. This brings me to my theory: what if (and its a pretty big if) someone else came and added their own entries towards the end in an attempt to continue the story or maybe even bring it back to the author's attention? Now I'm fairly certain this can easily be debunked by looking at the edit history of the page, but as someone that too added his own "spin" on a couple other articles of the wiki (I was a dumbass teen, ok?) I distinctly remember stuff like that being very easy to do nd get away with scot free.
Of course this is just a dumb theory that doesn't explain the DMCAing or takedowns, but I wanted to share this somewhere.
This pasta scared me to death when I was in middle school.
21:12 Update: the version on Wattpad has also been taken down. I tried to see if it was archived in the Wayback Machine, but wouldn't you know it, all I got was a message informing me that this URL has been blocked from the archives. Hah, I wonder WHO could possibly be responsible for that. 🤔

Hey. Just looked up the story on the blog in question. And you know
what: that "13 years ago" line had the 13 removed and now it simply says: "Did either of you hear of a guy who murdered a bunch of kids in these woods years ago?". If you ask me this was done by Camden to further cover up his tracks. He probably was made aware of your video and the ones by Slimebeast and after realising that he messed up destroying the last remains of evidence, he also deleted those.
I actually noticed that myself. I'm not at all surprised and to me it's the final nail in the coffin. I still think he'd be better off just coming clean instead of all this cover up shit, but the dude really wants his TV show, so whatever.

Despite Camden's claims that this version was "plagiarism-free", it wasn't. Because it still featured that segment with "Paint with the soul: How to dust a room" tape. What is depicted in that tape closely resembled this video by Alantutorial: ua-cam.com/video/JuzAOW7REpc/v-deo.html
And three times you may guess what happened to that segement.

Despite the controversy surrounding this story, I think it was good. Towards the end, it got a little repetitive with the entry’s being more of the same and not developing the story any further but overall it was fine.I wish it got a proper ending though

About point 2 at 26:16 -- I actually know a case where someone did exactly that:
Back in 2007, the user _Amerigo Vespucci_ wrote a story about the Cuban missile crisis of 1962 ending in a nuclear war instead of being resolved peacefully (link --> --www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/the-cuban-missile-war-timeline.65071/-- -- I can highly recommend it BTW)
Almost a decade later in early 2016, the user _Therubbleoroursins_ creates an article on the Alternative History Wiki which also deals with the same theme (see althistory.fandom.com/wiki/Great_Nuclear_War here), seemingly unaware of the earlier version by A.V. The article exists there for some months, until in December 2016 the user _The.Brick.Battle_ decides, for some unfathomable reason, to deface said article by blatantly plagiarizing A.V.'s story almost verbatim and pasting it in, although they change it here and there in *unbelievably* implausible ways. Frankly I would also recommend _this_ version, just for the sheer idiocy in pretty much everything The.Brick.Battle has changed from the original. :D

I think the author might've added AlanTutorial segments back when it seemed like it was just some weird channel that showed up on /x/ and not an actual, written, crafted ARG. Just one possibility.

I live in Ontario about 2 or 3 hours away from Caledon. This has always been one of my favourite creepypastas because of the local feel.

I always viewed the 13 years ago on the 2010 post to the fact that the channel was on the air from 1997-1999 so he was talking about the start of the channels history.

@@Canada1994 no that's a different character (not sure which one), clockwork is best known for 3 things, being a serial killer, having a clock in one of her eye sockets, and canonically being ticci toby's girlfriend, (or at least canon to the clockwork story, not entirely sure if the creator of ticci Toby considers it canon)

Okay, so I've been thinking about this whole investigation/plagiarism thing(I didn't know that was a thing until now), but like I read this a looooong time ago(I'm pretty sure it was still being updated because the last update I remember was on the same year I was reading it and I remember being excited that it was ongoing and I felt a part of the action) on CreepyPasta. I remember reading about the obvious alantutoral ripoff and booby. I remember enjoying the booby plot because of the scissors episode being reaaallly dark.
Also, it was a long time so I could be remembering falsely, but I remember making the connection between the writers name and him wanting to be an engineer in the story.
I'm not telling you or anyone else to believe me because I have absolutely no way on proving this as this is years old information, and I don't want to hurt the guy in case somehow his story really was plagiarized and I just have really weird memory. Plus, since I can't prove it, I really don't want to fuel the fire because if he is lying, I don't know him and have no reason to stir shit.

came back to this after Creepcasts reading and honestly im inclined to disagree that Camden stole it. Idk his age but if he was an older guy in like his 30s when he posted it, him not notice it was being spread around could be given a pass if he wasn't active on online circles, especially considering it wouldnt become popular until 2 years after he finished it. The dates not lining up i think is a coincidence and I think the additions and sharing around seem very normal for 2014 horror standards. I think its most likely someone posted it to 4chan with their own additions, than Camden playing 4d chess to try and cover up some plagerism accusation. That's just me tho, and I agree it can kind of go either way.
