I apologize for the fact that the Comment Time section takes up such a massive chunk of the video, I would have cut it down more but I felt that a lot of what was being said covered criticisms I didn't end up making in the actual written review portion. More like it was the work of the illuminati and the episode was predictive programming. Luckily for us, shrek and the 2013 meme crew were able to stop the illuminati's villainous plot, but at the cost of philoraptor's life.

If there's one thing I've learned from Mobile Suit Gundam (which actually has a lost episode that was stricken from the entire series), it's that lost episodes aren't lost because they're super-traumatic, gory or haunted. They're lost because they suck tons of ass.

The most difficult to believe aspect is that Groening tried to hide this episode but never did the same for The Principle and the Pauper. That episode was far more cursed.

I have literally never heard anyone bring up Dead Bart having a sequel until now. That's not a good sign.

I remember trying to look for an actual dead bart episode (or well, a recreation that wasn't complete shit) and never found it. But that was many years ago.
Dead Bart 3: A Good Day To Die Bart
I always pronounced Matt Groening's surname as "Gro-a-ning" or "Gruh-ning" in the past. I had no idea it was pronounced similarly to "graining". You learn something new every day.
I've heard it pronounced all of those in the past, even within Simpsons episodes, as well as my own, I just went with the one I was pretty sure was right and even now I'm still not 100% sure. I don't even think Matt is 100% sure.
I really hate how these stories go paranormal for no reason its like the pasta "lost episodes" and how I like the first half for being simple of "I know this kid sid he makes edits to vhs and puts them in random stores and years down the road I read creepypastas and they are similar to the shit sid did". that is so simple and good but then the other half is some spooky "hes parents are dead and now hes in the tv in a spooky house ooooooooooooooo" and it just ruins it for me.
That wasn't paranormal, it'd be bad writing at worst. His parents were dead because he killed them and he's in the TV because he did the cartoon himself, it's not like some demon killed them and threw him into the TV.

Its like the author knew how to actually write a story for the 1st paragraph and setup and then immediately forgot everything they learned in writing class from there onward for the rest of the story and its sequel

Ok, so I had a really, really long comment about my own idea if how to fix this, but UA-cam bugged and it's all gone now.
So I'll try and do it again but shorter.
The Simpsons 7GO6 "Dead Bart" was an unaired season 5 episode created for the purposes of showing FOX that the show could handle extremely dark elements, from the wasteland and the aggression, to the hyper-realistic corpse and the killing of a main character. This is also why the animation is poor, they didn't have to take as much time with it, so, blurring.
It was partly made out of another episode, "The Tropic Slingshot Boy" ( an episode I made up that involves Bart falling out of a plane and having to survive on a tropical island by himself ), which upon Dead Bart's premier on a projector at FOX, was cancelled completely. The tape was ordered to be destroyed as the higher-ups were appalled by the episode.
Of course, it didn't get destroyed. Someone saved it. And that might be the one on the creepypasta wiki. However, the reason why it has so many unnecessary distortion effects ( you could use this for a lot of other remakes ) is where I pull a bit from the Thomas & Friends creepypasta "Early Reel".

I think that fixes a lot of the issues, simply by giving the thing an actual reason to exist instead of just being an unnecessarily dark "lost" episode.
Since I'm using Brave on my phone and not the UA-cam app, I have to post this in a reply.
I would replace Homer's joke with something like "It should've been me."
A Dead Bart Update also wouldn't need to exist. The "everyone dies on the same day" is mentioned, but it's noted to be inaccurate, so the author chalks it up to be either an inaccurate prediction by the writers, or deliberately there for shock value, which I now realise is kind of a clever joke on how shock value was used so much for the "good old days" of horror not only on the internet, but horror as a whole.

Why were bad creepypastas so popular back then?
its because we where all kids who found this scary as soon as we grew up the stereotype of "my game, TV show, movie is blood and people die" gets old real fast
Back then people were simpler
It's combination of factors:
1) Horror writers on the internet wanted to be experimental
2) The success of Ben Drowned and (to a lesser extent) Suicide Mouse made these same writers want to use whatever childhood or (for lazy bottom of the barrel writers) current cartoons, animated movies, video games or comics and make them edgy and macabre.
3) most people who legitimately found pastas like dead Bart, squidwards suicide, sonic.exe, tails doll, rugrats theory, Pixar theory, Ed edd and Eddy lost episodes, cupcakes etc were either hipster teenagers who got tired of paranormal activity, haunted house and slasher remake movies (which I don't blame them, those movies were and still are garbage), adults who have an unhealthy obsession with their childhood media, or in the case of Cupcakes, bronies who were obsessed with MLP.
4) youtubers saw the popularity of Creepypastas back in 2012-2013 as a cash cow and milked it whilst promoted Medicare and bad stories ( the only good ones being slenderman, Ben drowned, smile dog, rake, Russian sleep experiment, candle cove, and I guess you can count username 666 even though it predates Creepypasta by 4-5 years. I'm not a fan of morena mordigarve gresgorv but I can see why it was popular so I'll give it props)
Here's a creepypasta! It's called Gumball: The Rampage.
One night, I was watching Adult Swim when a bumper for a new episode of The Amazing World of Gumball. Which I found strange, since Adult Swim doesn't air cartoons like that on there. But seeing as I'm a fan of Gumball, I gave it a watch. The entire episode looked like it was all poorly-drawn in Microsoft Paint. Which I found really weird.
Gumball looks to Darwin and says "eat my ass, you sperm-smelling pile of crap". This really scared me, since Guball doesn't regularly swear. He then pulls out a gun and shoots Darwin in the face. It was all done in a HYPER-REALISTIC style with all the blood and guts looking like something out of crime scene photos. Gadball then runs to Elmore Junior High and starts shooting the other characters, only to hide in his empty class room.
Police sirens are seen outside the windows to the classroom. Galmbild then looks to me and asks me if I'm ready to have some fun. My heart dropped... Gulbald knew my name! He then put the gun in his mouth and as he pulled the trigger, it cuts to static, then Teen Titans GO's intro starts off.
I was left shaken. Gumbald killed everyone, said my name, then shot himself... All I know is... I won't be watching Gummy the same ever again.

Honestly the story ain't bad but looking back on it, it ain't that great either it just seems to be a middle of the road creepypasta to me.
If there was a rewrite of the original story the one big change is that if I had to was that instead of telling it in the point of view of some guy who went to this con and asked the question to Matt Groening only for him to then get all shaky and give him a written down link to the episode to download to watch which alright seems like a interesting concept for a lost episode creepypasta, however I guess my take on the original story would be is to write it as if this took place in the Simpsons universe and have the Simpson family as actual characters, if you want a example of this the MLP story Cupcakes is a good example as to what I mean on what I'm talking about have it be as to where it's not told as a lost episode but have it be tolf to where it's like an actual story that would happen in the Simpsons universe if you know what I am talking about and if I were to change the ending I would have it be where since it's a ongoing thing in the show where The Simpsons are able to predict future of events I would have it end where don't get me wrong I do like the tombstone ending in the original story because it leaves off that note of uncertainty and eerieness but since this would be a rewrite I would take the part in Happy Appy where the show predicts 9/11 and use it in the Dead Bart rewrite because I do feel like it makes more sense as to where it would be The Simpsons instead of Happy Appy.
