35 y/o mechanical engineer from Alabama here that dreams to own an F355 someday, and I'm pretty good with the wrenches (old Nissans, Toyotas, dirtbikes, etc) so this is promising. Never realized this was my favorite color these could come in until this video, but wow that looks so sharp with those wheels.

Thank you for doing this walk through. I have owned mine for 3 years and have been very happy. I did my belt change with the gas tank out and it seems to have worked. Learned a lot about the car. I am more of a shade tree mechanic and found it relatively easy to do this without a lift. They are great fun to drive and beautiful to look at. Not as fast as the modern Ferraris that came later but very engaging to drive. Hope you keep doing more videos on the F355. It is a classic.

I see mention on other UA-cam videos and your comment below of replacing the timing belts without having to drop the engine (access via the rear seats and drop the fuel tank).
My question is how did you manage to replace the cam belt tensioners when you did the timing belt (everyone I’ve spoken to says these can only be accessed by dropping the engine?)

what a beautiful car, the color with those wheels looks amazing. This is my dream car =] not the flashiest or fastest but the most beautiful and fun. That color combo really gives the red on tan a run for its money, I kinda like it more

Isn't a blend door actuator the one which controls air direction to feet, face and windscreen? He pointed to the fresh air/recirculation motor-actuator.
The motor I pointed out is the referred to on the forum and parts catalogues as "blend door" "recirculation lid" or "outside air actuator" the motor inside the car on the HVAC box is usually called the "air diverter" or "directional motor"

What kind of paint did you use on your plenums? They look great!
Scuffed, primed, then I used the vht wrinkle paint for the texture and the base color. Then I went back and did a light coat of Rosa bruchetta to achieve the deep Red that matches all of Ferraris other cars
That is the true I bought one 5 years ago and the only thing I had to replace is the radiator switch for the fan cost me 40 dollars and the engine out that was about 6000 but to own a Ferrari I spent 6500 dollars in with oil is a great deal the best car I ever had if you do numbers it cost me about 100 dollars a month nothing for the kind of car it is !!!!!!!
Not to mention, if you bought it 5 years ago, you're likely seeing some appreciation in its value. :)

Seems like a lift is essential if you're going to own one of these to be able to do motor out work!
I've probably spent 3 years of my life on my back, under a car. The lift is a blessing, but it is not required. You can do an engine out on jack stands, its just a tricky.
Hi - how tall is your garage ceiling and which hoist are you using, how much space above the car roof is there to the ceiling? Would like to achieve a similar setup at home.
30x40 with 12' walls(about 16 ft at the peak). The lift is a ben pack, I forget the exact part number but it is like the XPR 10 LP meaning the pads are an inch lower than normal. The lift is about 12 ft tall, and there is a bar at the top so even if you wanted to you couldn't hit the ceiling before hitting that bar.
I'm just about every car, you can comfortably walk underneath.
Even if you didn't have a 12-ft ceiling, they do make different size lifts that can fit underneath other ones. If I was installing this in the garage that was attached to the house I would literally just put the top of the post into the ceiling between the joists.
Awesome video man! Appreciate it. After my recent yearly service, I have the check engine (emission/computer) fault. Any tips before the dealership makes it a hassle?
Point you in the right direction, the easiest thing is just to buy an OBD2 code reader. They can be picked up from anywhere, walmart, autozone, Amazon for as little as $13.
Once you get the code, for example it's a P1448, do a search on ferrarichat.com and you'll find likely dozens of people that have troubleshooted it and fixed it on their cars already.

Less is more. The entirely analog 348 is the biggest bang for the buck. The 355 has brass valve issues. the 355s electronic adjustable suspension goes out. the 355 spider's roof is one piece and costs $60k to replace. its now or never for the 348 - the shrewdest sports car purchase in the entire Ferrari market.
