Could you please release the original version also? It was in one channel like this only before. I appreciate the resolution improvement but I think I prefer the look, colours and audio of the original more than the footage I can see here.

@@Vaakh-V4 what do you mean by “Original version”? The version you saw from another channel is scan from a positive that had no blue color channel . If that is what you liked then you need to seriously think on your sensibilities ! This version has the blue color channel restored. Enjoy !
@@ajithrajan4598 what nonsense. You see older uploads of the movie, you'll see lots of blue. The sky, the water, the sarees, etc. It's film footage brother. There are more colours that film can reproduce that digital can't even process. This movie has some of the most beautiful cinematography with extremely accurate focusing and exposure values. I can't remember any scene which is even mildly out of focus or over/under exposed.
It looks real. The daylight, the sunlight reflecting off the skin and metals, subsurface scattering, sweat levels. It is so correct. You actually feel you are there.
Do you know how a movie will look like without a blue channel. It will look like a very bad Eastman colour print where the skies are grey or white at best. That is not the movie version I love or previously owned. In this remaster however, it is clearly apparent that the amateurs who did the grading applied the same principles they would do to digital footage. That is sad.

First and foremost, the source here is not the original camera negative but a 36-year-old release print that has already been graded and has a faded blue color channel. The older SD print you saw was telecined from the original camera negative. We used that same SD print as a reference to correct this severely degraded source.
What we did here is *color restoration* (not color grading) to bring it as close as possible to the original negative. It is impossible to perfectly match the colors of the original negative with a release print-especially one that has suffered color fading and stain damage over the years. Given the condition of the source, we have achieved the best possible result.
We normally wouldn’t have responded in such detail, but since you went through the effort of creating a UA-cam account just a day ago to comment on this, we felt it was worth explaining. If you’d like to try fixing the color on the original scan yourself, feel free to email us.

@@MatineeNow oh. Sorry for making you feel bad with my comments. However, please still release the television version which has been around. Maybe a month or two after the re-release. I understand it might not be commercially viable to have a version of the movie on UA-cam while it is in theatres, but this is not just any other movie. This is one of the top 10 iconic movies of the Malayalam industry and it is upto custodians of history like you to preserve all versions of this movie. Maybe sometime in the future, with the technology and knowledge available then, one of you, or the next generation will be able to finish your work restore your remastered film to the state of the original camera negative bringing it full circle. But that team will need a reference too. Right?
