    Jerry, you got into people's places, including mine, in Brazil. I was just a teenager from a poor background eager just to learn the English language and had a blast watching you guys for years. Thank you for making me laugh and for making life a little less harsh.

    He's right. I'm homebound- mostly bedbound- at age 33, and I have been for 10 years. And it BLOWS. And the best medicine for all this pain is distraction. And laughter. Honest-to-goodness. And I could never leave my house to go to a comedy show. Ever. But I've watched Seinfeld (and basically every other show ever on TV) and been distracted from the pain by hime so many times.

    The series Seinfeld was the first series I fell in love with as a kid. I was born in 92, so it had gone off the air pretty much by the time I started watching it, apart from some episodes here and there on TV here in Sweden, but every christmas and birthday I wished for a season of Seinfeld on DVD until I had all of them and I watched it on repeat in my room. Even learned a great deal of English because of that show, I used to watch with Swedish subtitles, then English subtitles so I learned how to spell the words, then went to no subtitles. Perhaps not the most efficient way to learn a language, but boy was it fun.
    By now I have watched all seasons of Seinfeld at least 10 times, probably 15+. Amazing show.

    It's almost unbelievable that a comedy TV show that ended 25 years ago, now, with episodes I've watched again-and-again, can still (because of both the amazing writers and actors) make me laugh out loud. Sometimes, they're the only laughs I experience in an entire day. I'm kind of glad Jerry Seinfeld realizes *that* value of what he produced.

    One of the nicer interviews where Jerry doesn't feel defensive and a bit mean. He opened up and the last bit was touching. And he was right, people turning on the TV, esp for the sick elderly and alone people, he's touched their lives, come into their lounge or bedroom and giving people a laugh or a smile, how many of us can say that. I find he's amusing just to look at, so used to his expressions from thee show...he doesn't even have to do anything and I feel lighter. Plus I think he was kinda cute or good looking, such a great smile and sparkly eyes, it lights up his face 😊😘

    I love Jerry and up till a couple of days ago I also had a lot of respect for him. I understand now that he and Larry David cut out the other 3 major character actors from sharing in any residual income from the show's reruns. He could have made some concessions to them for the years of work and value they added to the show. The Friends characters all stood together and made a deal to make sure they all benefitted long term from their efforts and time put into the show.

    • @hutch1197
      @hutch1197 4 роки тому +1

      I remember there being some discord about that with the cast but I don't believe it was Jerry or Larry "cutting them out". Those decisions lay with the network and production company. It's not really fair to compare "Friends" and "Seinfeld" in terms of compensation. Jerry/Larry created the show and were the head writers/producers for every episode, including Larry directing many of them. They were known to have stayed up nights every week writing and finishing the show for the first 7 seasons they were together, with Jerry taking double-duty after Larry left. The cast didn't put in that same level of contribution. And clearly, they all remained very good friends to this day, so harm no foul. The least wealthy of them (Michael Richards) is worth $50 million. They're all fine.

    • @jerrymylove1754
      @jerrymylove1754 Рік тому

      They were actors on the show. Jerry and Larry created the show from nothing. That’s like hiring a contractor to build a hotel then giving them part of income from then on. If they give them money then they gotta give all the actors money. They were paid to act. Larry and Jerry were paid to create. Much different.

    Kind of weird to tell us "don't go anywhere" and let it be followed by nothing. What if we really didn't go anywhere?

    But the show "Seinfeld' wasn't funny because of Jerry Seinfeld, it was Larry David, all Larry David scenes and jokes that made the show Seinfeld so funny.

      Not only Jerry was funny, but George, Elaine, Kramer and Newman as well, not to mention George's parents and other characters very well picked by the producers. Well written too, very good show.

      Larry David was one of the Producers...I can't vouch that he personally picked each actor...But I heard he did give the final ok to Jason Alexander to play George (which is Larry David's character), and of course Jerry to play Jerry!

    Has any comedian in television or maybe in the history of entertainment had a more successful career than Seinfeld? He must have been Mother Teresa in his past life to have been this fortunate.

    Anyone else sick and tired of Jerry Seinfeld lecturing about the "science of comedy" or the "construction of jokes" or the "lives of comedians," as if he's some Shakespeare of comedy? His stand-up is hardly groundbreaking. In fact, I find it quite trite and tame. And while his TV show was great, I think he was extremely fortunate to have Larry David by his side and an amazing cast and team of writers.

    Seinfeld the show was funny. Seinfeld the guy is just not funny, but he's stigmatized as being funny because of the show.
