To all those who hear songs that immediately own your soul and then you come to UA-cam to search for it and now you have a lovely collection of such music. You are truly original in your choice my friends !!
The way I see a cover -- it's not about who's version is better. It's about a band or performer paying respect to a great piece of art and giving their perspective the way each of us looks at a painting from our individual, unique points of view. Covers are the biggest compliments one musical artist pays to another.
Today i I was at their concert!Thay are ...everything for me! Taste in music, art, literature is changing with years....But Placebo-it's something what will stay forever in my heart!
+R Beth im here just because i finished watching that episode... didn't know the song so I typed in the lyrics, and found it. Such a great episode of bones. What a man wouldn't do to protect his family.
I listened to this song on the radio as I got the call from my dad saying my nan had died in 2013. I hadn't listened to it again until now rest in piece nan xx
Just saw Placebo live in Manchester and all I have to say is that they are simply one of the best bands that ever existed. They performed this song at the end of the show and I cried all the way through.... Their version of this song is miles better than the original.
+Margaret Graham if you don't like it then stick with Kate Bush! don't just come on here and say "it's pure shit, why does it exist?" because a lot of us like it! and if you don't then you don't have to listen to it do you! 🤦🏻♂️
Such nostalgia, my grandmother used to have a carpet like this one. I can still imagine it with all the colors that weren't shown in the video even after many years.
Placebo do not receive the credit they deserve for how well they cover other artists' songs. They succeeded overwhelmingly in covering a stunning track by contributing such a haunting and emotional touch of their own.
I lost my father to cancer last Saturday and found this song the very next day. It's so beautiful and helps cope with what has easily been the hardest week of my life.
Even if they were going on with their glum and dreadful inspiration the results got deeply appreciated by all their fondest fans. Perhaps I had overlooked them if they might have spent their strength only around happiness. Love them!
Brought here after seeing 'killed for being different' which is a beautiful love story between two goths who were involved in hate crime. Based on a true story, I recommend it. And was I the only one who tried turning the screen the right way on their phone?
I like this cover more than the Kate Bush version for the darker, depressing and despairing tone it has compared to her original, it's not better in any way, it's just my personal preference for the emotion driven through it
This song just gave me the most stress I had since Dark souls. Stranger things is the first show that got me to connect with the characters. Edit I know this isn't the original version
Lol I hear ya. Personally, I like this version better. They just used the original really well in stranger things. Really fits with what she’s going through, lyrics wise.
😻😻😻 my Dads FAVE song. I only just heard it yesterday and have absolutely fallen in love with Placebo. 💚💚 My 🥇🥇🏆 song at moment. If u love them plz like or coment. THEY R AWSOME.
i asked u i begged u for a rematch but u refuse u ignored me undertaker u want ur revenge? face me at the WM and get ur revenge .... i accept on 1 condition if u defeat me u end the streak but if i defeat u ur career is over... if i cant beat u i have no career your own
Love how everyone is hating on Placebo and they don't even know them,Placebo must look up to Kate otherwise they would have never done this. This cover is stunning and I'm sure its not just me that loves it
Like slowing the 45 down to 33 and a third... Nice. It would be unfair to compare it to Kate's original because they are different in the same sense Cream's version of 'Crossroads' is radically raucous compared to the original by Robert Johnson. But Placebo's and Kate's can happily exist side by side, to cater to either a melancholy mood (Placebo) or one rich with aspiration (Kate's). Still, I do prefer Kate's... especially when watching her video. Stunning stuff!
Me too, Miss Lancaster must've had the heart of a lioness throwing herself between her man and harm. That's the loudest "I love you" of which anyone is capable. She died a hero, but it should never ever have come to that.
one of the strengths of this song is that it promises you to explode somewhen but it doesn't and you just remain with a sort of dissatisfation that makes you want to listen it again and again and it's never enough
This was running through my head during my young cousin's funeral nearly a decade ago. "If I only could make a deal with god, I'd get him to swap our places." It just felt so unfair. There was not a single dry eye. I guess they had their reasons too, but for me, I've made every mistake there is to make, but she never even got the chance. Fuck cancer.
Rewatched the OC and i loved this as the opening for Ryan's scene as he's training non-stop to kill Marissa's Killer...truly so much self punishment and grief.
I heard it first in The O.C. season 4 episode 1 and I love it . then I heard it in The Vampire diaries season 1 episode 1 and I started to listen it everyday. I'm still loving this song
I was brought here by a demo of mininova versus microkorg synthesizers. They played the strings heard at the very beginning of the song. Truly amazing sound! But then I arrived here and the whole song does not disappoint!
Driving in my red sports car, on the 401 driving back from night clubs in Toronto, waiting to see my girlfriend. No mobile phones those days. No way of knowing what she did that day, what she's up to now. Gone are the days wondering whats up, gone are the days you had to "find" your friends. Gone are the days you would arrive at your favorite place to party, and find all your friends. I feel sorry for the youth today.
9 years later and it's still true but even worse, kids and teens just stay inside and message eachother instead of even interacting face to face outside of school or forced interactions
This is way better than Kate Bushs they made it their own and imbued it with more emotional depth and it is just one of those songs that is depressingly addictive and just hypnotic.
I don't think it has more emotional depth just because it's slower more depressing. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent cover but I still think the original is a lot better.
One 'like' for "imbued" alone... :P ! But besides that... wow, "depressingly addictive and hypnotic" ... I could not have put it better. And wayyyyy more emotional than Kate's orig version.
Its crazy how I heard this song on a trailer for a show on fox and right away I recognized his voice even though I had never heard this song!! omg The voice its self is a flash back
Run away, change ID, kill the other witness. It should be ok. If your are busted : deny deny deny and accuse the richest white-male you know, and if it still doesn't work, plead madness. Hope it will be useful.
I read a lot of comments saying that Placebo's version was better than the original from Kate Bush, now I know it's wrong. As a Kate Bush's fan I was a bit affraid but she remains THE BEST !
I agree with you 100%, I too read that Placebo's version was better - errr.. not the case in my opinon!! Their version is okaaaay....but Kate Bush's version knocks this into fits, especially that haunting music (is it some kind of horn?) it almost says "no problem" if you listen to it carefully. True masterpiece of a song by Kate Bush, which does not date in my mind. If you listen to tracks like this - then listen to some of the vast crap that;s been about for the past 10 years....well.....enough said!! Some true musicians and classic songs in the 70's and 80's cannot be rivalled. I was lucky to have the pleasure of spending my early years listening first time to some of the best music ever produced in that era.
I would also agree that Kate Bush's version is better and I daresay that placebo would agree, but I think as much as creating a great cover they are showing a deep respect for an artist that has influenced them and many others.
Nobody cares about your gay little shit. We are either here because of the original song, or because of "Bahnhoz zoo". You are fuckong nothing..just a kid trying to earn brownie points.

Me too! 😅
+Catherine Correia What season/episode??

+MadlyInLove really?? i can't recall!! I'm a big fan of Tvd.. do you remember in what situation was the song played?? :)
+MissVariabile Hey there! You can find this track on Season One, Episode One...greetings from beautiful Australia....
Just came from their concert. I can't describe what I felt when Brian Molko sang this song. He was awesome. Placebo is awesome. Love them all.
I'm 36 and I just discovered this band ..................... it has changed me and my thoughts ........... thank you placebo!!!!!!!!
The way I see a cover -- it's not about who's version is better. It's about a band or performer paying respect to a great piece of art and giving their perspective the way each of us looks at a painting from our individual, unique points of view.
Covers are the biggest compliments one musical artist pays to another.
Additon you just missed the whole point of what Marchant2 was trying to say.
Art can always be compared and this certainly complements a beautiful song
true!
Oc California... Greatest series of all time!!!
"If I can't beat you Undertaker I have no career" :'(
Andrey Bolaños that was the most epic moment from wrestling
Haha FINALLY someone said it!🤣
You're on!
@Matterhorn55844 their first match was their best one, but this promo was the best for their 2nd match
Today i I was at their concert!Thay are ...everything for me! Taste in music, art, literature is changing with years....But Placebo-it's something what will stay forever in my heart!
I've loved this song ever since I heard it on Bones years ago.
It was on Bones?!?! I love Placebo and I love Bones but I never realised it was on it omg
+Hayley Flanagan yes, in the episode Judas on a pole.
thanks!
+R Beth im here just because i finished watching that episode... didn't know the song so I typed in the lyrics, and found it. Such a great episode of bones. What a man wouldn't do to protect his family.

+Murphy NZ I like that, High Hopes, Low feeling
Episode 4 is the best like I’m so happy max made it her music taste is great too
As much as I love Kate Bush this version gives me chills that I don't feel when listening to hers...
Just saw Placebo live in Manchester and all I have to say is that they are simply one of the best bands that ever existed. They performed this song at the end of the show and I cried all the way through.... Their version of this song is miles better than the original.
The O.C rocks , the actors do a great job and pick the right song for the scene
I’m here after hearing this version on HTGAWM. Kate Bush original song was really ahead of times in the early 1980’s. But chapeau to Placebo.
Yes, but let's not forget the artistic force that is Kate Bush who wrote this song. and the vid is mesmerising.
This is pure shit compared to Kate Bush. Why does this even exist.
Exactly without Kates genius they wouldn't have had an amazing song to cover which is a good cover but NOONE beats her
+Margaret Graham if you don't like it then stick with Kate Bush! don't just come on here and say "it's pure shit, why does it exist?" because a lot of us like it! and if you don't then you don't have to listen to it do you! 🤦🏻♂️
You're right. I'm sorry.
No probs :-)
Such nostalgia, my grandmother used to have a carpet like this one. I can still imagine it with all the colors that weren't shown in the video even after many years.
I love Kate Bush's version but there is something about Placebo's version that puts chills through me.
Growing up in the 2000s brought me here.
Goosebumps on goosebumps! Amazing
Placebo do not receive the credit they deserve for how well they cover other artists' songs. They succeeded overwhelmingly in covering a stunning track by contributing such a haunting and emotional touch of their own.
Início da 4° temporada de The O.C. Ryan estava arrasado com a morte de Marissa! Eu acho, tão triste! 💟

Even if they were going on with their glum and dreadful inspiration the results got deeply appreciated by all their fondest fans. Perhaps I had overlooked them if they might have spent their strength only around happiness. Love them!
This is a great version. Love it'
Just in case I hear that clock
lmfao
This song it’s draining so vampiric it’s addictive.
Great version and so moving with the emotions of the BBC film it was played on
awesome song , awesome voice ,love it :)
Brought here after seeing 'killed for being different' which is a beautiful love story between two goths who were involved in hate crime. Based on a true story, I recommend it. And was I the only one who tried turning the screen the right way on their phone?
love the original but this cover really captures the darkness and emotion of the song
Kate.... Utterly fabulous, creative, dynamic, provocative & original.
Brian Molko? Nihilistic, onanistic, orgiastic, self-destructive, pessimistic, pugilistic personification - a perfect prescription, in fact....... IMHO.
Awww. Poor Joseph. So sad and lonely. You? Less than nothing. Happy New Year, kid.
Uhmmm...Without Brian no Kate too...K? Placebo originally created this song, so Kate can kiss thei ass
Tr oll Tots agree brah.
"in fact....... IMHO." That makes zero sense.
I like this cover more than the Kate Bush version for the darker, depressing and despairing tone it has compared to her original, it's not better in any way, it's just my personal preference for the emotion driven through it
Well put.
Well spoken, not an ounce of "this wun rulzs dat wun suxxors"
you win.
Like Gary Jules covered Mad World
sgtzero1337 doesn't matter if you like a cover better. Own that shit. Nobody is gonna stop you.
sgtzero1337 Chromatics do a great version too.
One of the very rare instances of a cover version being even better than the origional
This song just gave me the most stress I had since Dark souls.
Stranger things is the first show that got me to connect with the characters.
Edit
I know this isn't the original version
THE WAY THEY PLAYED IT IN STRANGER THINGS THO
Same here, I was called by the song from stranger things..
They played the original 80s version by Kate Bush. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/ihYYcveipho/v-deo.html
@@oldman8573 I know I only realized as soon as I heard the song I just didn't delete my comment
Lol I hear ya. Personally, I like this version better. They just used the original really well in stranger things. Really fits with what she’s going through, lyrics wise.

this song is so much more depressing compared to the original version, which I prefer this much more than the original
I think thats the point actually. It might be, it might not. I wouldnt know. Eh.
Placebo are not depressing this song is original Kate Bush could never do what they did !!!
BJA ScottishIdiot She did something they didn't also, and that's write the song.
