@ oh sure! not ‘random’. Some of the drifting tones pattern lengths were just set to numbers I never would think of like 71. I guess to keep them coming back at different times to keep the loop changing over time?
I had the feeling people underrated the OG dn. I never did. It's a gorgeous machine. Now this arrives just when I'm financially unable! Beautiful track buddy.
Thank you for demonstrating the softer atmospheric side of this device. Exactly what I and so many others needed to hear. The blippity bloop demos are so silly and soulless. This shows its depth and warmth.
I was really hoping you’d have your hands on the Digitone II already. Your work with it is very inspiring and I can’t wait to see what you do with the new machines!
❤ beautiful. Seriously tempted by one of these. Seems a fantastic update to an already great box. As ever wonderful use of it here. Looking forward to a Digitone II only workflow video on the Patreon 😉
I love my Digitakt and Digitone , I had all the other ones but for some reason Im attached to them the most, so when the Digitakt II came, I had to get it, now this favorite gets an upgrade and it was an immediate purchase. What a weird and wonderful little machine
Have you made any lessons or tutorials? It would be really nice to sit with you as a teacher and just help express with these boxes in this way. It can be a lot in the beginning.

Beautiful track and sounds as always. It sounds slightly less warm to me than your other Digitone tracks and I feel like I'm hearing this in all demos of the Digitone 2. I wonder if it's possible that the og is slightly more rolled off in the high frequencies, or maybe the original fm machine sounds warmer than the new ones. The crazy thing is that I was thinking about getting a Digitone before the release of the DN2 and I'm still thinking about getting the og because I'm finding it hard to find videos of the new one that appeal to me as much the the og in terms of tone/character. Feel free to ignore this comment because I know that tone/character can be hard to talk about objectively and maybe I haven't heard enough music with the new one yet to decide about this.
@@Pharmacymusic1 Thanks. I really can‘t comment on on technical difference, I didn‘t notice a change in sound. I think I only have Digitone-only tracks on here that were recorded to cassette. This one was recorded to 1/4" tape. And my style of editing the stereo file also has changed. I edit things to sound more open compared to a few years ago. So all that combined are way too many factors to compare the overall sound, in my opinion.
@@JoggingHouse Thanks for taking the time to reply and it's good to know that you don't hear a difference. I'll just wait a while until more music has been shared with the DN2 before deciding which one to buy.
@@Pharmacymusic1 I've never seen or used a DN2 but as an OG DN owner, I can say I feel the same way you do. I find this new iteration less charming and I am not planning on upgrading. The OG one seems (to me at least) like it's retaining more purity in the sounds, maybe because it's quite stripped down compared to this new powerhouse DN2? I would say follow your senses and hunch. The newest, shiniest thing is not necessarily the best for you :)
@@llax222 Yeah, I've since heard that the new one has new audio processing technology and Substan said that the new one sounds a bit more hifi, but they said that about the SP-404 MKII and many people (me included) felt that it sounded a bit colder and I'm feeling the same about the Digitone 2 so my senses an hunch are telling me to get an og Digitone, besides it also looks better to me and I like the idea of having a more focused fm machine with less menu diving and I think it is a perfect partner for the og Digitakt or Syntakt. Thanks for your thoughts on this!
@ ah, interesting, I did not know but it makes sense. I also think the original one looks a lot better with the little pops of colour. The DN2 indeed sounds as it looks, colder.
Digitone definitely has a vibe. But I think i'd prefer to have Digitakt and do a similar thing with samples. Also, I listen to your music on Spotify a lot, quite often to slow down my mind. Thanks for the tunes.

I dissected this pattern on the digi for hours last night haha. Really interesting stuff you did with the comb filters and random pattern lengths!
Thanks! I wouldn‘t call the lengths random, I did think about them for a moment. But I get your point :)
@ oh sure! not ‘random’. Some of the drifting tones pattern lengths were just set to numbers I never would think of like 71. I guess to keep them coming back at different times to keep the loop changing over time?
@MrStevo955 Exactly
Finally something worth listening to on the Digitone 2 that’s not 165 plus BPM.
This isn‘t even half of that BPM, haha
Agree!!!
Couldn't agree more. This is the demo I was waiting on.
Or 128 bpm like tekno tekno tekno 😨
So you’re saying there IS lots worth listening to above 165..
Thanks for dropping some Eno vibes for your demo. First non hardcore techno demo I've seen and I love it.
Glad you like it.
