I bought my Bose Open Ultra earbuds yesterday and I’m very satisfied with them despite the £300 price here in the UK. I bought them with PayPal interest free 3 month instalments to lessen the pain. They are perfect for someone like me who has this annoying issue with my ears which I think is eczema in my ear canal, so when I put in my AirPods Pro earbuds, 90% of the time my ears are itching like hell and I have to take them out within 10 minutes. I’ve tried over the ear headphones and it makes my ears hot and then itchy. These were perfect for me, because I can hardly tell I have them on, and they don’t enter the ear canal, so are a godsend. I had no issues setting them up, but I was unimpressed that they sounded flat and mono, but after checking my iPhone’s accessibility sound settings, I noticed they’d been set to mono. Once I switched that off, they transformed. Yes, they don’t sound quite as good as the AirPods Pro, but they are an open design, and I’m only too happy to take a sacrifice in sound quality to have comfort. They still sound good though. I’ve had them on for 2 hours without taking them off, and that has never happened for me with any headphones or earbuds. Now I just need to buy some replacement tips for my AirPods Pro 2 earbuds and onto eBay they go. 😊

I tried Bose and shokz open fit, returned Bose next day, only what is good with this headphones is comfort, nothing else is my opinion. Great comparison ✌️ Thank you

Great companions, I've been testing quite a few of them as well. The poor microphone quality is what kills the Bose for me. So the closest second one I've found is the Soundcore. So I'm going with the Soundcore instead.

I've had every version of the Apple earbuds, 2 Sony buds, and the Open Bose are easily the best for me. I wear glasses and the over the ear pieces are irritating to me. Ex-military and can't feel comfortable when unable to hear my surroundings. I also have tinnitus (ringing in my ears) which is not a problem once music is playing. As for phone calls, I am just as happy holding my phone during the call. For me after trying the Shokz and the Huehue (sp?) I'm very happy with my Bose purchase.

I appreciate your review; it's quite informative. I own the 1More, Soundcore Pro, Anker C30i, and Tozo. Ultimately, I use the Tozo most frequently because it strikes a balance in every aspect. It may not be the smallest or the most visually appealing, but overall, it performs well in every area. The sound quality is top-notch, and the volume is ample for public transportation. The 1More is another option I use, but it tends to block out ambient sounds. The Aerofit Pro's volume is too low for practical use. The Anker C30i is another favorite, but if I adjust it to the sweet spot for optimal sound, it hurts my ears after an hour; if I adjust it looser, the sound quality drops. The microphone is decent, but it lacks the AI features found in other Anker products. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on the Anker C30i. I understand that its sound profile doesn't compare to the more expensive Bose, but I'm looking forward to your thorough review of the C30i.

Thanks, Andy. Nicely done comparisons. No Bose for me, way too expensive. Regards J

My Openrock X literally just shipped this morning. Have you seen or heard anything about them lad? Hella not much news about these on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter which makes me a little nervous given that manufacturers usually send out review units prior to end users getting them. 😶

I've heard about those but haven't had a chance to test the buds. Looks like an interesting set though!

Thanks for the review. It also clearly wins the 'looking like a chav' round I'm afraid. Much potential for customizing / bling. Wouldn't surprise me if these end up going viral in certain demographics.

Hey Andy! Appreciate the review. Can you compare the other newer open earbuds with nearly the same form factor as the bose? For example, baseus just came out with one similar, that clips around ear. There's also soundcore. I think they have one too.

I like that Bose is experimenting with the design, taking a chance on it. These wouldn’t interfere with sunglasses as much.

A few days ago I bought some Bose Open Ultra and I have a small problem with them. When starting a sound, a sound like "ssssss" is heard in the background and when the sound ends it continues for a few seconds until it turns off completely

These Bose are awesome, they don’t interfere with glasses or a cycling helmet, plus they are legal for cycling since they don’t go in your ears. As far as sound quality, it’s more like listening to a radio at the beach, you can hear the sounds around you.

Why in the world would you want to wear ear hooks...comfort and sound quality should be number 1 to open ear buds. There is no good comparison. Definitely dont buy them to talk on the phone.
