    Just in case Nodejs is a JavaScript runtime environment so you would have to learn JavaScript to program in node

      node is different syntactically then pure JS but yeah you have to learn java script principles.

      I really recommend assessing your daily tasks and trying to automate one of those. I find that the best way to learn something is to have a goal you want to accomplish.

    Dear Andrew, I read a lot of blogs and material on the internet saying that we don't have to be in the IT field at all (basically not knowing any programming languages) to get started with Cloud Engineering because it has those languages built-in. I'm wondering, can I pursue Cloud Engineering (AWS is my choice) with no IT background at all? Thanks in advance!

      I’m not sure what languages are built in. If they were talking about clicking around in the GUI then yes I guess that’s true but that’s also not what I would consider cloud engineering. I recommend learning a language

    Hello Andrew, Do you think that I need the AWS Certified Arquitect to next obtain the AWS Cloud Security?
    And another question, Do I need to have 5 year of experience to get the AWS Cloud Security?

      I’m not sure of the pre-reqs for the security cert but I would say the more knowledge you can get the better!

      It was for a few certifications I’ve taken but it is quite expensive and I think you can find the same content out there on other platforms.

    After watching this video, I am starting to wonder if I should just skip the SA route, and go for the Developer Associate + Sysops Associate + Security Specialty?

    Very insightful video. I am looking for my next role to be a cloud security engineer. Do prefer AWS over Azure? I am currently pursuing Azure because that's what my current firm us using. What are your thoughts?

      I personally prefer AWS as it is more intuitive from a developer perspective but, both have value.

    Whether Leetcode easy or leetcode medium programs will be asked in this role interviews?
    I am an automation engineer and do not have strong data structures knowledge. Do I need to learn ?

      I have had interviews where I was asked to solve problems and others where I wasn't. I think it's very helpful to have a strong understanding of data structures for any engineering discipline!

      I’m no longer in cloud security engineering but when I was I had a solid workload. Not too much but definitely not too little, I was solving a lot of fun problems

      extremely. I recommend using it as a daily driver to learn commands and general principles.

    I'm currently a Network Engineer in a security focused role. I would like to transition to Cloud Security in the next 12-18 months. I have minimal programming skills, should I focus more energy on that or the Cloud Certs? I will be looking to get Az-900 and Az-500 in the next 3-6 months.

      I think you should try to do both. I recommend ability to program at moderate proficiency with Python or nodejs and understand of at least one cloud platform.

      I am doing the same. Currently a security analyst and looking for my next role to be cloud engineering. I just got AZ 900 and will be studying to get AZ 500. Also will be learning Python and Powershell this year

    Seems like you mainly talked about certs and skill sets that are required to land a role in cloud security, but what about career paths?
    How would someone without any working experience in cloud break into the field when majority of the job postings require 3+ years of experience?

      DIL meaning Directed Independent Learning? You can take some of the advice and apply it to anything. Although, helpdesk doesn't really need security, cloud exp, or programming with any sort of granularity.

      One (being cloud security) is creating security controls, infrastructure, and systems. Whereas the other (pentesting) is coming in and assessing those controls, infrastructural pieces, and systems.

    I passed exam AWS Practitionier and AWS solution architect, but i dont have work experience in it. So what to do you think? it would be hard to pass aws security speciality exam without security work experience?

      You should make a website out of some basic code. Then go into AWS build a project in there and write a blog about what you build into the website you made. If you really want to get technical run the website in AWS and write a blog on that lol

    I've been told I need to know Linux OS(centos) to become a cloud engineer or cloud security engineer. Anyone care to let me know how valid this is? While I'm sure learning a technology I'm unfamiliar with would be beneficial, I'm just not sure if it's a prerequisite for obtaining a cloud job.

      I think learning Linux in general will be fine. Ubuntu is a great daily driver.

      @@timecircle8420 I personally think it’s assumed software engineers understand Linux as it’s the os that’s used most for servers. I personally use Ubuntu as my daily os or I use macOS and zsh. I would say it’s a requirement.

    Which one is a more lucrative and promising future?
    Which has a better job outlook/security?
