As a trainer or an owner, I would hate to be rewarded 1st place in a Group 1 race based solely on the fact that the horse who'd actually crossed the wire in 1st place tested positive for a banned anti-inflammatory drug, which nearly all trainers use at some point in between races to help cut down on swelling. Another case that springs to mind very similar to this one was Snow Fairy being taken down as the winner of the G1 Prix Jean-Romanet for the same reason. She had been given an anti-inflammatory drug to help with an injury prior to that race which trainer Ed Dunlop would later tell the media that he was told by the vet that the drug would be out of Snow Fairy's system by the time she ran in the Jean-Romanet at Deauville, but it obviously wasn't.

Noble Mission really gave up late. Bad move by jock. Went way too early and opened up. Horse got late and probably was looking around.
