@@dvg4104 That’s true, still kinda wishy washy, I don’t see conservatives with any kind of vision of the future rather just resistance to liberal leadership.

Conservatives are liberals. Radical or progressive liberals are the left liberals. Conservative liberals are right liberals. Conservatives are yesterday's or 5 years ago liberals. They are not illiberal.
Conservative/right=small government. Left=big government. Not egalitarian, btw; it simply links money to power. The word liberal has had so many contradictory meanings l do not use it at all.
Kudos to conference organizers for recognizing Prof. Gottfried's indispensable contribution to conservative political thought.
As Auron MacIntyre says, liberty is the byproduct of virtue, not the other way around.
"Seek Freedom and become a captive of your Desires. Seek Discipline and find your Liberty"-Frank Herbert

A brilliant thinker
Very well said.
Thank you.
I love his books. He is obviously conservative biased doesn't blur the line between the facts of history and his opinions. Very honest writing.
Finally
Paul was probably required not to criticize conservatism ss just another form of liberalism.
I still don’t know what liberal or conservative mean other than personality types.
Liberal: Egalitarian
Conservative: Inegalitarian
