Hi Sir I really appreciate and like your explanation. Much of my doubts have been cleared thus. However, i had a doubt here. In the sentence "his mother who was lying in an arm chair" how can "who was lying"be a phrase when it has a verb, in this case was lying?
Any group of words(whether the group consist of noun+clause/ noun +phrase ) which works like a subject /object is called Noun phrase. Ex :his mother who was lying in the arm chair/ his mother lying in the arm chair/ his mother to be lying in the arm chair .....,here all these groups of words can work as subjects. So even if his mother combined with the clause , the noun + clause works like subject (work of a noun) is called noun phrase. If we consider only ;who was lying ; it is clause. But when this clause is attached to a noun and the group works like subject is called noun phrase.
Thank you so much Sir for your flawlessly brilliant explanation. All my doubts are now completely gone. You are an excellent teacher Sir. Do you have any video on verb phrases?
