If one wanted to expand it further, the dwarf could be in debt to someone who is enslaving ghosts with the promise of a true resurrection onces they pay for it, obviously with interest. Someone who could wait the 200+ years for them to pay it off. That way, the players can either save one ghost, if they choose to follow the plotline, or have them go after someone bigger and shutdown the whole industry, allowing to ghosts to pass on.

Yeah this was amazing. Like what a high level play. It’s really hard to pull off and fun to watch. I have had a brothel full of monsters. Vampires and werewolves and demons and the like. I have twice had people want to buy their freedom only to be told they are in bed with the government. The town is corrupt and the players now get to go end the governing body. Really fun and I want to know how this ends.
Honestly, prop to the player too. He adapted his character to the situation perfectly. It was not his dm's intention to give him all that lore and the player worked with it and made an incredible story
"This is stupid! Ghosts can't eat!" Wrong again, Gyro. Everyone knows ghosts eat soul food. Not quite, but eating the ghosts of plates of food is kind of similar.
DM has player who's bored. DM unintentionally creates a situation that allows the player to explore story elements that appealed to his interest. DM now has a player who is intensely invested.
This is not a horror story, this is a glory story! Please tell me this is going in the Glory Story Playlist! We need more videos in there! And this one belongs!
Let this be a lesson to future GMs: Goblins get a little rowdy when they have nothing to do. Give them a task, and they'll do anything to complete it. I hope you do a follow-up video for this story!
I love this story…one of my Characters kept an NPC alive that was supposed to die early on so she could get his sword. As the campaign progressed she began saving him every other sesh, and in that time the npc began to have feelings for her and it blossomed into the most amazing love story and we are now in the final installment of the campaign and whooo boy….its been one hell of a ride. It’s moments like those and these that make me love DND so much, the unexpectedness and the feels👏
Outstanding story. Credit not only to the DM for improv handling, but also the the whole group for trusting the goblin player enough to let him make an amazing story. Also great job on the delivery and commentary. This is by far my favorite video of yours!
WHAT?! A completely wholesome ending?! 😭 i LOVE a good "bad guy is actually sweet when given the chance" and man id be so happy for him if i was in this group. So adorably amazing.
In real life the bad guys are given plenty of opportunities, but they always seem to choose the most detrimental path for themselves and those around them.
The one thing is though, that Giro wanted to enjoy something, and he got to choose his own story. But most murderhobos just want to see the world burn. I guess that's something this DM needs to keep in mind when dealing with this player. His character got hooked to an NPC with a good story, and got emotionally invested, so he wants to make a difference, even if she is imaginary. He now sees himself as a character in a story, and I think it's good that we get his story shared, because it does give meaning to his love for that campaign.
I think the GM just manager to surprise Giro with a ghost, so the player became curious of what the GM would do with this next amazing ghost and then got hooked
As someone who gets murder hobo when I get easily bored or feel like I’m rail roaded it’s sort of I’m fine with building a story but yes and is my preferred way to like play with a dm
Exactly. Most murderhobos intentionally ignore story hooks, and try to murder npcs who could offer interesting quests or relationships. This event just tickled the goblin's fancy somehow.
@@Red_Devil_2011 It was supposed to be tickling something else, considering the original reason that Gyro was there. Odd that he decided to go with it, but very commendable. Are we sure that Gyro's player wasn't replaced with an alien?
"That's not as bad as I thought it was." Pretty hilarious because it's about a brothel full of dead women and somehow true. XD (Still pretty bad though and breaking a ghost out was awesome. :D) The analysis on why you thought it made a problem player better was fascinating because it makes so much sense and it's something I would have never have thought of.
Gyro just turned a horror story into a straight glory story, and I doubt he even realises this. I actually teared up at the twist. I really hope he is able to achieve his goal, I'm so proud of him.
I suspect that the change in Gyro might have been when he was able to feed the ghost by shooting the meal. In that moment, though no one would have realized it, shooting his gun became more than just about killing people. It became a way to help someone and be kind to them, and give them something no one else could.
I felt so redeemed with this story because at first I thought Gyro's player wasn't sounding too bad. Sure, he was a murder hobo but he seemed self-aware of it, and the way Gyro went about himself was full of self-expression, something I value way more than "playing right" at my table. Also, DM is a genius, The Frosty Maiden although tragic was excellent, can't believe he improvised it on the fly, I might steal or at least take strong inspiration for it.
I feel he also went with what the dm let him get away with and not resisting or fussing when his character is literally wrangled makes him sound better
I love how what OP did to get Gyro to change his ways wasn't to punish him, but to give him a run in with a few delightful ghost. I also love the angle of Gyro's choice, a goblin who has all the freedom in the world to do as he wants meets a ghost who just wants to regain the most important freedom of all. Her life, I love how Gyro might've not completely changed his character but rather the perspective he had. A goblin that once committed evil for the sack of himself now commits evil for the sake of others😊
"The way you bent me into a pretzel was EPIC." Holy shit that hit me like a ton of bricks and forced soda out of my nose! Hearing Critcrab say that made it 10x funnier
The GM's offhand improv must have really struck a cord with that player. Well done to both parties for finding a way (inadvertently or not) to not only deescalate, but make an incredibly touching side story.
I created a joke character being a mix of Mr.Chow and Elton John. Not to mention the absurd amount of times he had multiclassed. Before I knew it he ended up being the leader of the party. He always seemed to fall face first into money. The Dm I came to a ingame joke that I would always come into so much coin but never spending a copper on anything remotely useful. All of my gear I either stole, was given, or found. As for backstory it just got deeper and deeper to the point it was a big part of the overall story.
That went full circle beautifully. The player used to grow bored of the game and the campaigns, thus would disturb the game until their character died. Their characters had no purpose, no reason to move on. Now he's faced with a character who's the exact opposite. A character with so much purpose, so much reason to move on, that they are going to great lengths just to get another chance. And now he's made giving them this chance his own purpose.
22:15 I think the goblin player just felt involved with ghost business after he fed one via ghost food. One act of kindness can change a man and goblin player intuitively knew it and changed his goblin character and the DM was also clever enough intuitively to give him the perfect scenario to change.
DM provided a interesting situation and the player was so hooked that he made it his character goal. The goblin doesn't seem to be a bad player, but one that can't alone create an engaging goal for his character, so he ends up doing stupid things without caring.
That’s what I noticed. Not every player will be the best at creating character motivations on their own. The player was bored because he never could come up with a compelling enough goal for his character to accomplish. The DM just inadvertently gave him one and opened up a mountain of potential plot hooks.
@@myanrueller91 I'm excited to DM for the first time, and this story (as well as comments like yours!) just shone a light on something I think hinders a lot of tables... Good thing to keep in mind for the future
There is foreshadowing with the ghost elf, even if unintentional, because of how much empathy he has for the tavern ghost. Even that early on the murder hobo realized that the ghost had an unfair situation and could not eat, and was eager to help when a solution was presented. He then continued on that solution every time it came up past that, consistently shooting the cooked meals instead of it being a one-off gag. I don't know if the DM caught on to this when they made the ghost brothel setting, but it played into empathy the character had already showed. I did spoil myself a little bit on comments but even without that, it was clear to me as soon as he was talking to the dwarf that he had no intentions of actually sleeping with the elf. This legitimately does seem like a player that nobody ever took the effort of seeing what they wanted in a campaign, and as soon as somebody did come up with a situation that interested them they immediately became invested. Good on everybody here
I before there's a sad ending where they found her murderer or something that put her soul to rest in piece and she starts fading away only for the goblin to break down in tears
Just gonna add "keeping my close friend's weapon and using it because their spirit is linked to it and I have to earn enough money to buy back their resurrection" to the backstory/motivation list. Also makes for a good item find.
I'm with you, 3 minutes in, CritCrab. Wouldn't bother playing with someone like this. edit: WOW. brilliant random creation on the GM's part, adjust... wow. the whole thing.

7:06 Just to clarify since I played the module and read most of the book, the purpose of joining alliances is the side missions to get extra money/rewards. Generally only the person wanting to join the group gets the rewards, but other players should be able to help out on said missions regardless and a DM could reward others who help. That way you don't have to split the party and everyone gets to work with factions of their choice
I was also once the player who said "wait, humor me" going into a presumed sex scene. When people humored me, my emotionally guarded character asked his sugar momma if this time she could just hold him. This came on the back of a party member's death, and my character was the big brother figure for the entire rest of the party.
I'm just new to the channel and DND in general, but I am quite a roleplaying guy in various Discord Server, so far I've watched and heard of Fehkar, and other of the worst bunch. And let me tell you this This is a fresh turn around on the entire overview I had so far! Keep up the good work! Edit : oh and All notifications are active, can't wait for more content!
And this is how you fix problem players. Sometimes, you just gotta figure out the why and do something about it. Now the guy understands he can have fun without being chaotic and that he can get fulfilment without being trigger happy all the time. That being evil isn't the only fun to have. Sometimes it's just hard for people to understand that because theyre used to video games where it's a constant matter of "If you want the fun, awesome thing then you have to be evil, otherwise your good playthrough is all about sacrifice"
but people trying to "fix" that playstyle is a problem in and of itself. why do you think he has fun in trying to dismantle campaigns for what dms want him to do? his playstyle isnt being controlled in this story. hes simply given a reason to care hes still going to be chaotic. thats not going to change, in fact that really shouldnt be changed. however, instead of doing so in the goal to mess with the campaign itself, hes going to do so in the goal that hes made for himself
This is actually such a good story that really shows the value of having your character have an overarching goal. Especially if the DM is willing to thread in plot line to collide with said goals. All to further develop your character realistically into a better version of who they started the journey as! Also, please bring back white text on a black background, much easier on the eyes personally~
First of all MAJOR props to the GM, none of these would’ve happened if it wasn’t for them. They came up with a very entertaining and engaging scenes and stories on the fly so I can’t imagine how fun the rest of the game is. But I also want to give credit to Gyro’s player on where he deserves it. By the looks of what’s written, I believe he acts very cooperative compared to most of the “problem players” we see in these types of stories. He seems to be willing to play along. And I believe that’s also why all of this worked. (Aside from every other player being cooperative as well ofc) Which I’m glad because being cooperative is a huge service a player can do for a GM. Especially for such GM who clearly puts so much effort in the campaign and putting character storytelling on the top of the list while being flexible. I’m so happy about how this story turned out. I hope the campaign ends so well for that group and they’ll have this brilliant experience they get to talk about for a LONG time ♥️

I LOVE this story. The DM unintentionally created a story that the problem player cared about, though they were already turning the problem player into something better by allowing them to channel their chaotic energy in creative and constructive ways. Sometimes the random NPCs made up on the spot can lead to the most interesting stories. I have had a fearless and emotionally detached shady warrior woman get to explore her softer and more maternal side just because I had a random street urchin try to pick her pocket. I hope both the DM and all their players enjoy their creative journey together.
That story is so heartwarming honestly. What a stellar performance on both the player and the DM. The DM’s patience and willingness to allow the player what they wanted while keeping it in line with the rest of the party, and the player making a genuinely amazing story beat to read. Just wow.

Plus he is clearly either charging very little for the ghost's "services" or taking so much of a cut there is no chace of them actually buying their life back. Plus he is using elven ghosts, he's a dwarf, could be something there.
Wonder what those schematics he was looking at were for...
@@shanerasmussen5225 If it's not related to catching more ghosts to expand his business, he could have his own goals that he's trying to fund and the brothel could be a means to an end. Maybe he's trying to build something or sell something.
My idea is he skimming a large cut of the ghost's profits for himself to get out of the shithole that is Waterdeep and plans to abandon them when he has what he needs, leaving the ghosts trapped there until either someone else sets up shop there or the heat death of the universe.
@@shanerasmussen5225 I agree. There's a LOT to work with here.
@@shanerasmussen5225 I think it's worth noting that he had Ghosts of multiple races, not just Elves. When Gyro asked if they had any Girl Goblins when he first walked in the Brothel owner said "Only dead ones." But yeah I agree, there's a LOT of potential here!

@@riverh6998 They might've already read this story on Reddit and saw CritCrab narrated it so decided to comment here? Possibility, at least.
Honestly, prop to the player too. He adapted his character to the situation perfectly. It was not his dm's intention to give him all that lore and the player worked with it and made an incredible story

You ain't wrong
Maybe I am a goblin
I love this story…one of my Characters kept an NPC alive that was supposed to die early on so she could get his sword. As the campaign progressed she began saving him every other sesh, and in that time the npc began to have feelings for her and it blossomed into the most amazing love story and we are now in the final installment of the campaign and whooo boy….its been one hell of a ride. It’s moments like those and these that make me love DND so much, the unexpectedness and the feels👏
Shooting the plate to feed the adopted ghost is the cutest thing ever and I am most certainly stealing that for my next campaign
Outstanding story. Credit not only to the DM for improv handling, but also the the whole group for trusting the goblin player enough to let him make an amazing story. Also great job on the delivery and commentary. This is by far my favorite video of yours!
"Maybe I don't want to be the bad guy anymore!" - Murderhobo
Loot Goblin: *GAASSSSSSSSP* Who, are, you?
The story arc of the elf ghost elf is incredibly entertaining and I wish it was a movie
I mean, the guy sounded like that exact kind of murderhobo
"That's not as bad as I thought it was." Pretty hilarious because it's about a brothel full of dead women and somehow true. XD (Still pretty bad though and breaking a ghost out was awesome. :D)
The analysis on why you thought it made a problem player better was fascinating because it makes so much sense and it's something I would have never have thought of.
Yeah, I wouldn't want to play with him, but clearly he's still putting in effort, which I can respect.
Evil is freedom from judgement and law
And seeing the ultimate lack of freedom is the worst injustice you can encounter

Major Gold Star for the GM on this one.
NEVER underestimate you abilities to improvise on-the-fly story hooks in ANY situation!
The GM's offhand improv must have really struck a cord with that player. Well done to both parties for finding a way (inadvertently or not) to not only deescalate, but make an incredibly touching side story.
Usually have videos on in the back ground while I'm working, and I didn't know I needed such a good story like this. Very well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That is definitely not where I thought the story would go, and I'm all the more impressed by it.
Gyro is living the phrase "you're BAD guy, but that does not mean you're bad GUY"
Thanks Zangief, u a real one 🤜🤛
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.
Mmm more like
"I'm a bad guy, but I'm not a monster!"
Good on everybody here
I’m gonna take a note of that brothel idea, it’s sounds awesome for a small quest and can be quite tasteful
I don't even care if they end up together. I just want him to succeed in reviving her and they genuinely platonically hang out at least once.
I before there's a sad ending where they found her murderer or something that put her soul to rest in piece and she starts fading away only for the goblin to break down in tears
If she's bound to the perfume bottle wouldn't the perfume bottle need to be destroyed first? @@XxInfinityxXTimer
GO MY LITTLE GOBLIN BOY! I WAS NOT AWARE OF YOUR GAME
Just gonna add "keeping my close friend's weapon and using it because their spirit is linked to it and I have to earn enough money to buy back their resurrection" to the backstory/motivation list.
Also makes for a good item find.
17:26 he didnt just defuse he made the situation and this path more appealing bith for his character development and the story. Its well done.

This is absolute cinema. This campaign sounds like a total banger, and it's good to finally have a happy ending to a murdehobo after all these years
Waterdeep only lacks brothels in the corporate-sanitized version of FR. In Ed Greenwood's original sex-positive version, they're everywhere, and bisexuality is common.
What's the difference between cecks positive and being horne
In the published source book Volo's Guide to Waterdeep Volo straight up rates brothels
@Terranallias18 idk but I'm gonna ponder this 🤔
@@Terranallias18 you can feel lust and still think negatively of it, ala Frollo from Hunchback. And you can think of sex as a good thing without feeling the need to constantly indulge in it.
@@Terranallias18 sex positivity is when you're happy for others to be horne whether or not you are at the time
Proof that, "Yes, and", "yes, WHAT?", "No, but," and "no, AND" can be a better crafting tool for the story than trying to be "a Train conductor".
Wow, I almost cried there at the end. That was a genuinely beautiful ending from a real person having a real change in character.
It’s more a case of ideologically splitting the party. I’m all for it to a certain extent though. Conflict is storytelling.
And let me tell you this

And this is how you fix problem players. Sometimes, you just gotta figure out the why and do something about it. Now the guy understands he can have fun without being chaotic and that he can get fulfilment without being trigger happy all the time. That being evil isn't the only fun to have. Sometimes it's just hard for people to understand that because theyre used to video games where it's a constant matter of "If you want the fun, awesome thing then you have to be evil, otherwise your good playthrough is all about sacrifice"
but people trying to "fix" that playstyle is a problem in and of itself. why do you think he has fun in trying to dismantle campaigns for what dms want him to do? his playstyle isnt being controlled in this story. hes simply given a reason to care
hes still going to be chaotic. thats not going to change, in fact that really shouldnt be changed. however, instead of doing so in the goal to mess with the campaign itself, hes going to do so in the goal that hes made for himself
(Aside from every other player being cooperative as well ofc)
Which I’m glad because being cooperative is a huge service a player can do for a GM. Especially for such GM who clearly puts so much effort in the campaign and putting character storytelling on the top of the list while being flexible. I’m so happy about how this story turned out. I hope the campaign ends so well for that group and they’ll have this brilliant experience they get to talk about for a LONG time ♥️

Its funny how as a DM/GM we pour so much effort into our campaigns....and our off-the-cuff stuff is what truly resonates. Ya gotta laugh.
It's how it do be.
The off the cuff stuff is straight from the tap from the well of creativity rather than pondered on logos.
"Goblin Murderhobo finds Ghost Love" is certainly not how I had expected this to go. And I mean, maybe it's not exactly that, but I feel like it would go that way.
He's a great character! Pure roleplaying and behavior consistent with his alignment.
1:50 why I legitimately want to know why people like this are a thing if you dont want to play then dont play seriously its like the people hating on the mcu but keep apending money to go see the movies or spend money on disney+ honestly its not that hard just find something els to do life is to short to he focused on things you hate and spending all that time trying to ruin someone elses fun is an easy way to get beaten up if you do it enough times

1. Be useful.
2. Make sure you don't burden the party, or break rule 1.
3. Don't be absolute, you can have ridiculous delusions (this is my fav) but if rest of the party wants to something that goes against yout delusions, find a reason to go along, rp it, but don't prevent the party.
4. Have fun, and be mindful of other players fun as well.

I love how Gyro went from "goblin bastard" to "Gyro, Savior of Spirits"
That story is so heartwarming honestly. What a stellar performance on both the player and the DM.
The DM’s patience and willingness to allow the player what they wanted while keeping it in line with the rest of the party, and the player making a genuinely amazing story beat to read.
Just wow.
The player had a dose of humanity and has a goal to help someone, but at the end of the day, when it is achieved, he'll likely go right back to sabotaging games. I'm glad he's trying, but man... I've seen this too many times.
"I told him to roll deception but he corrected me and said he was being sincere and would like to roll perception."
DAAAMN that mustve been such a wild ride for the table/party, watching someone be reborn in front of your eyes
And just like that, this is my fav critcrab video
After all these years, I still adore Crit Crab's voice he uses for the Problem Player. Absolute Nerd Emoji energy, and I am *here* for it.
Also the idea of the barbarian wrangling a deranged goblin by carrying him by the scruff of his neck like a cat carries its kitten is SUPER funny.
Also feeding a ghost by making a meal then shooting the food so it turns into a ghost meal is 1000% something I need to remember for the future, that's fantastic.
Certified A-Train moment
He got a taste of being the good guy for the ghosts and he realised maybe it aint that bad especially since only he can shoot the food for them
I was worried that he would try to turn full creep on the ghost, but this turned out better than I thought. Nicely done 😸
If you told me a Murderhobo would be tamed by a brothel worker I'd be astonished feeling like it was a weird remade drama plot.
