WE HAD A BOY! Weighing in at 8 lb 8 oz, Bennett Daniel is the newest addition to our family. Congrats to Medina Aquatics who guessed 8lb 7 oz! Thank you to all who participated and for the kind words!
Congrats, you guessed the closest. (our boy was 8 lb 8oz!) These rainbowfish are yours! Please contact me at sydneysangelsstore@gmail.com so we can set up shipping!
You are such an inspiration to me. I am trying to breed fish myself and it is so good to hear you want to take the next step and bring a new purpose to your hobby. Congratulations on your new baby!! My guess is 7.6 OZ :)
Kudos on the CARE act- another plan on mine for the future. It's been on the brain now for a few years and more of us in the hobby should help on conservation of delicate species. Keep up the good job on sobriety... I know if I hadn't gotten into fish I'd probably not be here right now- hobbies keep the depression down.
Yes I think that would just bring a new wave of purpose to this hobby for me. I'm glad you took an interest in fish and that you enjoy the same therapeutic benefits that I do. Life sucks sometimes but seeing beauty in these little glass boxes restores my hope for the future. I'm glad you are still with us :)
Congratulations! I’ll guess 8.4. Love watching your fish room develop and excited for your future plans. I’ll be making an expansion in my own room, so don’t mind if I steal some ideas!
Thank you! Oh, most of what I have going on has been inspired from somewhere on UA-cam so go for it! We're all working together and that's one thing I love about this hobby.
I love, love, love your plan. Ecosystems with fish and aquascaping are great therapy. Trust me. Just quite an expensive hobby. Worth the peace and joy, though!!! :) Peace, Mr. Dan!! I hope it's a boy, but I feel it's another girl. But your fourth may be the boy. lol.. As long as she/he's healthy, 10 fingers and toes, she/he'll be great!!! Congratulations!!!
Thank you so much 😊 I think ecosystems just make sense, less maintenance (or more depending on how you look at it), more natural, definitely more beautiful, more relaxing and most importantly it's better for the fish!
Congratulations! I'm in being induced right now. Lol. I'm guessing 7 lbs 7 oz. That's how big my first was. The guppies I got from you a couple months ago are doing fantastic. Have given me some gorgeous fry
Enjoyed the video Dan! I really hope everything goes well with the new baby, I'm sure you guys are excited! I unfortunately as much as I would love a rainbow fish tank I just do not have room for them at the moment. The fish looks really good and the fish themselves look amazing! I also really love your take on the environment and your charity idea is just awesome. We've spoke before about our sobriety and I think we can agree that fish keeping has definitely been a big part our success, keep up the great work and best of luck with the new baby! I'm pulling for ya ion the boy! 🤣👍
Thanks Dave! Yes I agree that keeping fish and plants has helped my sobriety so so much. I appreciate all the kind words and maybe some day you'll have some rainbows! I didn't know how much I loved them until I actually had them in my house. Beautiful fish. Thanks again my friend 😊
Congrats on the kiddo! I'm thinking 7 lbs, 7 Oz... Girl. We have three boys ages 9, 6 & 3 so we keep busy. Wife still wants a girl but had to have a hysterectomy last December that almost killed her. May consider adopting down the road. I'd love to win some rainbows- haven't had any in about fifteen years now. I'm kinda getting back in the game- biggest tank I have running right now is only a 29g BUT if weather cooperates tomorrow I'll be cutting wood for a new tri level rack for the 75g I have in storage I was actually planning on putting rainbows into. I want to show these boys how awesome rainbows can be. Trying to maximize my new rack so the top will hold five 10g on top, the 75g in center and since I'm dealing with a 7' ceiling thinking four 15g on the bottom and all tanks will be air driven, with a h.o.b on the 75 along with sponges. Plans for rice fish, shrimp and rainbows and some of the ancistrus I've bred plus whatever else I come up with with lots of plants and moss about. Actually have four different racks I'm planning on building, the fishroom will be coming back!
That sounds like an awesome design for a rack! I would love to see it when it's finished. I'm constantly doing the same thing, trying to squeeze as many tanks as I can into my limited space haha. Wow three boys, it must be like the thunder dome in your house! I'm sorry to hear about your wife, I'm glad she's okay now. We might adopt a 3rd kiddo in the future because my wife is a type 1 diabetic and both pregnancies have been pretty rough. She spent almost 2 weeks in the hospital with Sydney! Super excited to hear about all your builds, it makes me want to get off my lazy butt and build a stand for my 75!
I just do daily 25-50% water changes and feed baby brine shrimp twice daily. When I'm lazy and don't feel like hatching live baby brine, I use various fry powders. I keep these fish at 80-82 degrees. I've noticed that not all rainbows are as easy though, the Kali Moysi have been a real challenge. It seems as though only about 25% or less of the fry that hatch actually survive. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing or just nature. Keeping them outside in tubs might help too!
I know, I guess the best we can hope for is reintroduction somewhere nearby or somewhere suitable for that species? My friend has several rainbowfish that are already instinct in the wild. Terrible

Thank you! 😊
How do you keep such a large number of fry? How's the feeding and water changes?
I just do daily 25-50% water changes and feed baby brine shrimp twice daily. When I'm lazy and don't feel like hatching live baby brine, I use various fry powders. I keep these fish at 80-82 degrees. @@sydneysangels thank you so much. the hardest part is the new hatching stage until they can eat the baby brime shrimp. I see them die a lot
Congrats!! I’m guessing the baby is gonna be 8 pounds and 7 ounces.

Congrats! Im guessing the baby is 7 pounds 2 oz

That's weird! Thanks I appreciate it!
Some of those habitats are already completely destroyed by mining and other industry.
I know, I guess the best we can hope for is reintroduction somewhere nearby or somewhere suitable for that species? My friend has several rainbowfish that are already instinct in the wild. Terrible
