I discovered Madonna dancing at Odyssey on Beverly Blvd, LA-Summer of ‘82. This song 🎶 WAS AND IS everything. It was so funny bc us young 80’s gays felt like 👍🏾 Madonna was ours…..and then the geeks discovered her-but WE were with her 1st 🙌🏾💝🙋🏻♂️💗🤔 She used to go to Rhythm Lounge-I wish I followed her there…..(she was living in Monroe’s old building, planning her ascent.
Both albums, but mostly this album were recording using a MiniMoog Synthesizer. It was a popular synth for club music at the time, but this first album from Madonna really showcases what this synthesizer can do. The irony is that the MiniMoog couldn't do chords, it could only play one note at a time, but it has three voices per note, which is what gave it that full sound. The basslines from this synth are incredible!
