- Joanna Newsom plays her song "Peach, Plum, Pear" live in concert at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, California on November 25, 2019. Peach, Plum, Pear was released on Newsom's debut studio album, The Milk-Eyed Mender (2004). Newsom performed as part of her "Strings/Keys Incident" tour, an intimate set of shows with just her singing and playing piano and harp, and marking her first return to touring since 2016.

Joanna Newsom official bio:
Avant-garde multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom will embark on a national tour. The String/Keys Incident - An Evening with Joanna Newsom will feature her emotively beautiful songs in a rare and intimate concert experience by Joanna alone: solo voice, harp, and piano!
Newsom was classically-trained on the harp at a young age and began her professional musical career as a keyboardist in the San Francisco-based indie band The Pleased. After self-releasing two EPs in 2002, she signed to the independent label Drag City where she released her debut album The Milk-Eyed Mender in 2004. The album released to critical-acclaim, named “The 12th best folk album of all time” by NME, and secured Newsom a dedicated underground following.
In 2006, she released Ys, which charted at Number 134 on Billboard 200 and received a 2007 Shortlist Music Prize nomination. She followed with the release of Have One on Me in 2010 and Divers in 2015. Her song “Sapokanikan” on Divers earned her a spot on NPR’s “The 200 greatest songs by 21st century women.”
No stranger to critical-acclaim, she is often noted for her unique musical style, sometimes characterized as psychedelic folk, and her prominent use of harp instrumentation. In addition to her solo success in the music industry, Newsom has provided additional vocals for The Lonely Island’s songs “Ras Trent” and “We Are A Crowd.” She has appeared in MGMT’s music video for hit song, “Kids,” and has appeared as an actress in the popular television show Portlandia and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice.

She has a unique voice
I wish a studio harp version were available. I’m not a big fan of the harpsichord and other sound effects in the album verion. Harp is the better instrument, so I don’t understand why that decision was made
Thankfully we have all the PPP uploads from her stings/keys incident last year which are to me, as good or if not better then her studio cuts. And not just of this song.

Totally agree. I see the charm and merit of the MEM studio version but it personally doesn’t appeal as much to me. One of the best songs in her discography is hidden behind one of my least favorite arrangements.

she doesn't have a weird voice and her cousin is good at his job.
her singing reminds me of how bjork sings now. she syllabicates almost all words. i mean it is not bad, their chose but i don't like it. her singing on 2015 is much better and clearer. she sounded like she's struggling now.
I feel like the way she's singing now is similar to when her career first started. But she's definitely straining T_T
She sounds like she's imitating the way she used to sing.
She had vocal nodes at one point and it changed her voice quite a bit. I'd imagine that touring as a vocalist would be pretty challenging after that kind of vocal cord trauma
IMO her singing was stronger than ever on her 2019 tour, she's just singing this particular song with her approximation of her older style. Her high notes are especially strong now (like compare her performances of Easy in 2010 to 2019)
