    I saw Jeff on The Living Web. He is a genius and has a wonderful scope of the world. He walks the walk. We are privileged to have him in our existence. Animals are an integral part of our farms. I realized this when I met a lady who home schools, raises chickens, and rabbits-Mansfield, my rabbit. Her boys are learning from Eagle Scouts. Her boys can do things that "men" are expected to do. Her family is amazing. She was such an inspiration, like yourself in my journey thru this life. What a blessing to have her intimately from Jeff. Thank You:)

    Thanks for the video. We just got chickens and I understand what Poppen means when he says you need to have animals and plants to grow harmoniously together. Last year I was buying a lot of organic fertilizers and etc but this year we didn't have to because we have the chickens. We only used chicken manures and our own compost and the gardens is looking great.

    How can you know that the organic and pasture raised produce and beef farmers are really using these practices as some of what you buy from them don’t seem very different from the grocery store products.

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  6 років тому

      Well, of course the best way is to know your farmer personally. Like if you lived near Wilmington, NC, you could be assured of your beef and pork products buying from Lizzy Lou's Family Farm in Currie. My son works for Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed, and I can vouch for their beef products. USDA is unfortunately, like many govt. agencies influenced or flat out corrupted by Big Ag and chemical companies, so the "organic" standards have dropped significantly. Very hard to know about the eggs and chickens unless you know the farmer. Best to grow your own if you can. It takes some research, but I would guess in every area, there are people who know where to go for quality animal products.

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  9 років тому +2

      alphamale292 Well, I just learned about him from Sharon at Sharon's Natural Gardens in DE who is also a biodynamic farmer. But, Jeff Poppen is a true original, and believes natural resources, including land, are to be shared, and not possessed. Glad you enjoyed it. He grows 8 acres of vegetables, and delivers CSA boxes to Nashville once per week.

      @Latebloomershow  6 років тому

      Ah, yes, I've heard from a few folks that live in the high desert. Well, as you saw in my video last week, you grow what you can, where you are. Someday, in my lifetime I hope, organic farming (and I'm talking REAL organic farming, not what the USDA currently considers organic) will be the norm. Thanks for watching and I hope you find much inspiration on my channel!
