  • I'm taking you on a solo journey through one of the most iconic trails in the world: the Grand Canyon South Rim to North Rim, then back to South Rim, also known as R2R2R. That's over 45 miles , ultra-distance trail of rugged terrain, steep climbs, and breathtaking views.
We start our journey on the South Kaibab Trail. It's early in the morning, and the air is crisp. The descent into the canyon is steep, but the views are absolutely worth it.
As I make my way down, the landscape transforms with every step. The layers of rock tell a story that dates back millions of years. It's truly a humbling experience. See the Colorado river and the Bridge.
Phantom Ranch is a welcome sight. Here, I take a short break to refuel and rehydrate. Staying hydrated and maintaining energy levels is crucial for a hike of this magnitude.
Crossing the Colorado River marks the halfway point of my outbound journey. From here, it's a challenging climb to the North Rim. The North Kaibab Trail is a test of endurance, but the sense of accomplishment is unparalleled.
Reaching the North Rim is a moment of triumph. The view from here is different but just as magnificent. The North Rim covered with snow. After a brief rest, it's time to head back. The return journey is just as demanding, but knowing what's ahead helps.
The return journey pushes me to my limits. Fatigue sets in, but the beauty of the canyon and the goal of completing the R2R2R keeps me moving.
And finally, I make it back to the South Rim for 16 hours in the same day. I finished the 45 miles solo run. The feeling of completing the R2R2R is indescribable. It's a mix of exhaustion, exhilaration, and immense pride.
Thank you for joining me on this incredible solo adventure. The Grand Canyon R2R2R is more than just a hike; it's a journey of perseverance, discovery, and awe-inspiring natural beauty. Until next time, keep exploring and pushing your limits.
