Seth: does something to Crim
Crim: I’ll never forgive Tomer
Lol
he was like father to me
I like the flavor win of having all the LOTR videos being about the same lengths as the movies
Cute that you think the movies are only two and a half hours
@@VivBrodock I mean it's only 20 minutes shorter than fellowship and the first game they played of the precons was over 3 hours so pretty close
Would be a nightmare for the editor but I'll love to see an half hour version of those video, don't have time for the full 3 hour gameplay
Crim loudly complaining about his Commander not sticking around while Tomer wallows in despair is hilarious
I’m a little sad to see Tomers deck get hated out. I was so excited to see Aragorn Charms. :-/
yes this
Yeah literally why I watched this video back was to see what he put together for Aragorn, just to waste 2 1/2 hours of my time watching everyone put all their resources into fucking him over all game.
😢
Wow this Tomer guy seems like a fun dude! Hopefully next week the group will let him bring a deck and play a game.
thats just how it be sometimes, not his fault but not the others as well
Man imagine if he could right
@@nathangardner4084 It's definitely the others fault are you mental? They didn't have to hate him out of the game.
I have a suspicion that is tomer
Man, the amount of hate for tomer’s deck this game was out of control lol, I’d love to see it come back for revenge week
Aragorn really isn't a "play on 4" commander. It's more like a "play on 7 with a charm in hand". It draws insane aggro and has no protection.
I mean, I get it the first 2 or 3 times it got killed lol but after awhile it just felt silly
The board wipes didn’t just target arragon and I think the hate was split between him and crim perfectly balanced as all things should be
if your deck relies on your commander like voltron that's kinda the risk
Turn order bullying, they're making Seth answer him because he's up next.
Tomer how could you forget about the two blue wizards…who never play into the story at all.
I wanted to keep it brief since the rest of the table would fall asleep :(
@@MTGGoldfishCommander
You also missed that Morgoth isn't a Maiar he was one of the Airnur. It goes The GOD, the Airnur which can be called God's as they are the ones that created the different races. Then the Maiar are angels that serve the Airnur.
@atk9989 sorry what did I miss? I fell asleep reading that
@@atk9989 Ainur is the term for all the immortal spirits that existed before the creation of Middle Earth, which includes the Maiar. The term you wanted was the Valar, which Melkor/Morgoth was.
@@exsnypreFunnily enough the Elves were originally Ainur. Made to be the successors of the Valar, but many ended up falling and being cast out to Middle Earth.
Sweet-gum recluse is on ALL creatures that entered that turn. Give the boy Finn the counters he deserves!
Wait, really? Oops...
@@MTGGoldfish Yeah it showed that poor ewit was an option but got ignored :( Lol
I was upset when I saw that, too 😂
@@MTGGoldfish The best part was the others tried to help you out but nope :D you didn't believe them.
I like how Richard's deck is > $1k, Crim's is ~$940 and yet Tomer with his $140 deck is the one getting targeted. :D
The 1% vs middle class 😅
I like how the deck's price is what you focus on.
Charms is a cool build, but they are all dirt cheap.
Every deck at their power level is gonna have a "price advantage" on Lucky Charms 🍀
After watching the season so far, i definitely prefer the old thumbnails and intro. Gave the episodes some unique flavor. (I totally didn't gloss over this video twice on my home page cause i thought it was just another random commander game getting recommended to me)
I really miss the old intro music.
why? the new one is so much better
@@FableErrejeDMR agree to disagree
Seth wanting to use an edict for Sauron when an edict will very rarely kill him because he'll amass when you cast the edict 😂
This is why soul shatter is my favorite black removal spell in the game. It’s not perfect, but hitting the highest cost creature of every opponent is insane
@@skykur Soul Shatter is a great answer to Sauron! Grave Pact effects work great too since you're not casting anything extra for the edict
Shouldred's edict works too
I miss getting little deck techs at the beginning. I feel like all the banter and character has been sapped out of the intros
People were probably skipping it.
Richard, I’ve built a Tom Bombadil deck that’s more focused on adding and removing counters from sagas, as well as flickering them. When you can double up on saga triggers, they go from mediocre to quite good!
I also feel like he isn’t playing enough Sagas. I only counted 20.
tomer showing clearly that every deck needs ways to exist without the commander in play
Nothing wrong with a commander centric deck.
Tomer just needed way better protection for his pseudo-Voltron commander
I like how everyone spewed off a bunch of boardwipes in the early game, then Tomer and Richard die after shuffling away board wipes that has been in their hands for a while, then Crim gets back in the game by casting 3 more board wipes.
Tomer gets archenemy hated out again, again, again =/ Crim immediately starts hitting him every turn and attacking him with creatures every turn, then Tomer wants to board wipe, and Crim attacks him "because you are going to board wipe". Like, what is Tomer supposed to do? Tomer is archenemy with an empty board lol.
Part of it I'm sure was Crim playing it up as "the troll" since thats sort of his character in the crew.
That said, this is definitely one of those games where, were I in Tomer's shoes, I'd have scooped and found another game instead.
Tomer is the kind of player who makes greedy plays and then whines about getting punished. I'm surprised there are people who feel sympathetic for him. If you don't want to keep getting blown out, try to play with some nuance. Jamming your commander on a vulnerable board over and over and then complaining about it? Not a good look.
@@jeffe2267 This was a perfect summation of exactly what I have been thinking.
@@jeffe2267 Yeah, if Crim's shtick is making troll plays, then Tomer's is making *bad* plays and then getting salty when they don't work out.
@@jeffe2267how is playing your commander in a deck that does nothing without it a greedy play? Plus it wasn't just board wipes, even Seth was using targeted removal on Tomers commander.
Its not that people think you don't run interaction. It's that you all tend to run a lot of board wipes instead of a lot of single target. Restarting the game instead of dealing with singular/some threats will make a game go longer. As always love the content though!
I'm afraid the new trend will be instead of spot removal everyone will just mainboard 10 boardwipes
@@2strokemopedlife459 even in a boardwipe heavy deck that I have (8 board wipes) which is on theme with the control theme for Nevinryyal, I still run plenty of single target removal so that I don’t constantly reset myself dealing with 1 threat.
@@TinyLegs15243 running a lot of single target removal sounds like a bad idea in a nevin deck. having nevinryyal die basically resets the board and provides zombies if he comes back on the same turn.
@@thegreatestblood it’s good if you run not a lot of creatures and are going infinite.
Yes that's good deckbuiling for better or for worse.
Seth bashes the dark lord when rating qnd then has the audacity to claim he rated it a A, he gave it a B and bashed its ward 😂
This game was BRUTAL to watch for me, while I like interaction, the amount of wraths good God
I'm very impressed that Richard built his mana base around the cards he would have in the first 6 turns in a 100 card singleton format. He's just simply better.
Why is Seth so surprised that Grim is playing one of the only grixis commanders in LotR
with how well the dark lord performed it would be interesting to see a commander clash episode where each player is playing a commander to defend the rank they gave it that the other players disagreed on e.g. richard and seth didnt think this version of sauron was S tier threat and now realise it
i've always thought with Army tokens that you should've been able to put the +1+1 counters on either an existing token or create a new token to put the counters on. choosing to build a tall OR go wide with your army would've made much more sense for the flavor
Guided Passage is severely underrated. If you play with new people, they get to see your cool deck and make interesting deals. If you play with friends, they already know every card in your deck after a few games, so no downside. You are guaranteed a land drop, and two cards that advance your game plan. If they are shortsighted, they'll give you every "bad" card in your deck. If they are smart, they'll let you pay mana to get rid of something that hurts both of you.
I always thought it was a solid card as well. It draws 3 cards at worst and it's guaranteed to have 2 cards that are playable. They don't always have to be ramp pieces or "bad" cards if your deck is built with it in mind.
Tomer's new lighting is doing him so many favours haha. Looks good!
Edit: If this game has taught me anything, it's that loading up on protection spells for Aragorn and making sure you have the mana up for them is incredibly important.
A lesson for *every* deck that relies on its commander
Should be pointed out that Sauron also didn't return to crim's hand like it should've and it also didn't go back on top of his library like it should have. Considering the end results that's pretty good.
Watching Tomer get deaded on sight while presenting no threat is pretty lame to watch
Yep it's honestly why I was glad when Crim was gone actual games happen when you don't have 2 players at war every game, Richard sitting there watching until he wins and Seth tagging in against Tomer 60% of the time.
It's because Crim cries every time he gets targeted and will try to talk them out of them every single time. As soon as he gets attacked or targeted you can skip 3 minutes ahead because it's just "no why are you targeting me please don't I'll be your friend look at the others they have a forest I'm not the threat" until they relent.
Idk I thought it was funny
Soooo revenge week next week? I really want to see tomers deck do... something. It seemed so cool
I'm listening to this at work and when Traverse the Outlands brought up the ole basic land debate I said "the proof is in the pudding" literally 5 seconds before Tomer did lol
Really liking the new editing style of late. Good switch up guys, more effort and energy into the intros, great production and content guys!
“There is a divisive denial in Dovin’s Doritos.”
-Crim 2023
Them arguing over guided passage being good/bad was so funny. Loved Richard going "if there are cards you don't want then don't put them in your deck". I agree tbh, it's essentially 3 mana draw 3 with good filtering.
Can anyone link me to a Commander Clash where they don't team up on Tomer for no reason, and he actually gets to take part in the game for a change?
Taking into account that you put "Commander Clash" and "They don't team up on Tomer for no reason" in the same sentence, I don't think that exists. ;)
I also feel these guys tend to be dicks to Tomer. He really suffers for 3 hours for their entertainment
@@abisadeonasanwo2789 A bit. Some of it is definitely playued up for "laughs"
That being said, in my local community we've had a few folks with similar attitudes / playstyles (one really kinda similar to Crim) whom we had to _kindly_ explain they either needed to change their behavior... or they were no longer welcome to game with us.
There is no bad behavior or bad etiquette here anywhere. Sometimes things dont line up and the timing is not on your side, especially in a 4 player game. Tomer is not really being targeted personally or hated on, y‘all are crazy if you think that.
You also cant always wait until someone is a clear threat on board until you go after them, but have to use the window of opportunity to improve your chances.
In the end these are adults hanging out and playing a game - if there would be a big underlying issue, I’m sure they would be able to resolve it
Tomer’s salt off the charts 😂 rightfully so but still funny!!!
This is a round of commander without the commanders.
Seeing this I’m happy my table doesn’t play that much removal
Awesome game! But dang that was a lot of wipes 😅 Sauron is definitely the pre-game archenemy though. Such a strong Commander even if you choose to build around his jankiest mode (amass)
I loved this episode. I hope next one is another 3 hours LotR themed video, just so we can have a trilogy lol
I have been looking for Tom gameplay everywhere! Super pleased with this
24:05 I don't think an edict would have helped, because whenever you cast a spell, Crim would get to amass, and have an army to sacrifice instead.
“On this week’s episode of Dies To Removal” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's so hard watching these when it seems like Seth is committed to making sure Crim wins
Spoiler:
What happened to Tomer this game is literally why I am so afraid of playing decks heavily built around having my commander out. Because some games I have a really hard time getting to untap with them.
Man, here's hoping one day the Tom n Jerry style antics will stop. It's always the exact same game - Crim and Seth desperately trying to relentlessly dismantle Tomer while he's so far from being the threat.
Next time everyone has to play a budget list except Tomer.
Editor's working overtime on this one with all the weird MTGO quirks and obscure rulings
Maybe the rule for next time should be instead of youtube choosing Tomer's deck, youtube chooses Crim's (and we absolutely do not let him play any form of control at all (that includes hatebars))
Edit: also, maybe just as a suggestion for house rules, maybe limit everyone to only 1-2 wraths. Precons only usually include that amount, because any more and you get games like this with back to back to back wraths.
Rip Sweetgum Recluse. Someday people will realize it can put counters on EACH creature that entered the battlefield that turn. 😔
At a certain point it should be better to just let the commander go to a graveyard and retrieve it with eternal witness and play it for a normal cost.
Tarantula venom isn't harmful to humans unless you're allergic. Like a bee sting.
I love politics in EDH, I really do, but the sheer number of words that come out of Crim's mouth painting everyone and everything else as an immediate problem that must be answered is exhausting. And as Tomer is often the target, since he is the only one that isn't taken in by it regularly... doesn't seem like a super enjoyable experience.
Yeah this game has had some dreadful threat assessment, Crim was pretty clearly in the lead for about 90% of the game and yet no one really wanted to interact with him. That and the never ending wraths results in a game that drags out for so long where every player is limping along.
At 2:02:00, sweetgum recluse lets you put 3 counters on any number of creatures that entered the battlefield that turn. Seth could have put Counters on both Fynn and the spider.
Yeah Seth missed it a few times. He was real sure it was 1 creature even when Richard asked about it targeting multiple creatures. 😩
Seth: Tomer can we be friends
Tomer : Sure,- ok now i ramp 9
Seth: Murder
1:46:45 Shelodred won't be around to put her triggers on the stack. That happens for 2 reasons:
1. Card text is executed in the order written. The creatures are destroyed before the cards are drawn.
2. When a creature is "destroyed," it's moved from the battlefield to the graveyard (ie, this results in a zone change) immediately. Notably, this isn't like lethal damage, which waits for state-based actions. It just happens.
Friends don't let friends ramp.
Also, Sweetgum is any number of targets each get +3/+3.
Sauron as Popo from DBZA. The one true dark lord.
I was laughing my ass off when they chirped Richard about not playing swords. And a swords wouldve actually saved him from the sheoldred at the end lmao
I like how Richard's intro is his name and deck and that's all.
i basically play the sauron deck but with saruman as the commander . is very fun and i didnt expect it
How good is Sauron now seth and Richard?
Eh, a solid B ;)
Crim is like a kid in a store and tomer is the parent
Tomer: why can't you behave!
Crim: *screams as he plays second sheoldred*
If Seth had managed to make Aragorn into Food, the token would have been legendary and so could be sacrificed to pay Sauron’s ward cost.
28:41
No.
Richard and seth rated the Dark Lord as B, while crim and (absent) tomer rated it S, I'm pretty sure.
There were Editor rant notes for the next 5 cards on how seth and Richard could possibly rate something else higher a card later.
And yes, B is not respecting it.
Crim:Hey Seth can you not kill my creature this turn?
Seth:Sure!
*crim plays shelodred*
Seth:Tomer we’re friends right?
Tomer:Sure Seth!
*Seth kills his commander*
Will kill Tomers commander so many times but wouldnt take out Shelodred😢 which would’ve been amazing for him 😭
Yall got to leave that man alone 😂
Do they not post the deck lists? I wanted to try Tomer's deck so I could see it do something
The decklists are in the article linked at the top of the description, as always.
@@Niuttuc oh thanks I was looking for them in thw description
yay another seth+crim vs the table
They didn't really team up though. It was all just talk. There was that thing about not doing anything to what Crim summons(Sheoldred) but it wasn't really a factor because it got removed immediately.
The LOTR length continues! Great games, folks! I can't wait for budget - and at $25 to boot, I might just brew my own list as if I were a guest
So glad my playgroup uses threat assessment instead of pettiness to determine targets
Don't feel like checking to see if it has been commented but...
Sweetgum Recluse give 3 +1/+1 counters and ANY number of creatures (not just yours) that entered this turn. It's a hella fun card that can be political/offensive/defensive ! Love it !
What happened to Tomer's turn around 1:18:52? Seems like it was cut out for some reason
Yeah, this episode was a bit aggressively cut to avoid being another 3h+ video (the game definitely was), and on his turn he just drew and played a tapland
crim saying "it asked me Top or Bottom and i PROUDLY smashed top" sent me
Vindication for Sauron
Can’t help but feel that some people underrated Sauron in the g-z video :P
I wish I could find a group like you guys, Tomer. My store basically shadow banned me bc "I wiped too much", yet they run a SINGLE SWORDS in their entire deck as interaction.
As someone who loves spiders in commander and has a bit of knowledge about spiders, it bugs me to see Seth play this deck tbh 🙃
(Even if spiders aren't considered bugs, lol)
Another week of seth hard targeting tomer and letting crim win
Feel like the mispronounciations are intentional..
I actually couldn’t finish one of the Goldfish podcasts bc Seth kept calling Aragorn “Argon/Aragon” and I was just over it. When he mispronounced Rivendell, I almost stopped watching this game 😭
Mispronouncing fantasy names with your friends is fun, only a small subsection of genre fans take it so seriously and that should not be the norm IMO. This stuff is supposed to be fun.
Let's go, been excited to see shelob in action
I was so confused why everyones Aragorn deck was filled with random charms but now it all makes so much sense
I’m really liking my legendary, multicolored, human tribal, Aragorn deck. Also enjoying all the LOTR cards that gives me infinite combos in a Ratadrabik deck thanks to “The ring tempts you” mechanic
Having a 6/9 Sweetgum 👁️👄👁️ *achievement unlocked*
would an edict spell even get sauron? wouldn't the cast trigger of amass make a token before thr spell resolved?
They did say Crim's commander was only a be level commander
Seth not knowing sweetgum recluse puts 3 counters on any number of creatures 😢
Then correcting Richard, who knows the correct way it functions.
@@FidoPhilanthropist My theory is if you are going to be wrong you have to be confidently wrong ;)
This was just bully Tomer week 😂 stay strong Tomer! 💪🏼
Guided Passage, at it's worst, is draw the three worst cards in your deck. If your deck is good, that's good. At it's best, you can use politics to get sweet stuff.
Not necessarily. It's not "draw the worst 3 cards", it's "draw the 3 least useful cards for the situation", which can be pretty bad. But it certainly isn't always bad.
The effect is worse than draw 3 and reveals your entire deck to the table.
Sagas are pretty meh but I also question the ones Richard decided to include in his deck. I built tom for brawl and still didn't have to stoop as low as some of those he was running.
So, I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I love long Grindy games like this. I'm super happy to see a set that pushes a little bit of battlecruiser magic.
This really just goes to show that board wipes aren't fun. If a board wipe doesn't actively get you closer to a win then it's not cool. Bringing everyone's board states "closer" together isn't getting you closer to a dub, it just brings you further from a loss.
2:03:56 did Crim draw Otawara and decided not to use it so Seth could have some fun? Kudos to him if so.
Otawara requires 4 mana to use. Crim was 1 short.
@@IQuarentOh good catch.
With the Tom Bombadil deck, maybe you should be playing all the praetor sagas?
Crim is hopefully going to show Richard and Seth that rating Sauron as a B was blasphemous.
Friendly reminder, there are 2 A's and 2 R's in his name. The last True King is, in fact, not a noble gas
I love how Seth doesnt understand sweet gum recluse and then even says its trigger wrong. Its for any number of creatures that entered that turn Seth lol.
Tomer was getting dunked on for no reason this game lol
Aside from that first fight spell, almost everything else was incidental. I felt so bad but it was also hilarious to see everyone trying to recast their 14 mana commander. XD
Edicts can't kill the dark lord unless it's a mass edict. He amasses to protect from single edicts.
Or a non-token edict.
@@RasmusVJS Or highest power/cmc edict. Lots of edicts will kill Sauron.
Guided Passage is my favorite card that I don't play. An unconditional three cards for three is always good even ignoring the potential political plays. Unfortunately, the card is a pod full of people unfamiliar with your deck takes like 5-10 minutes to resolve so I think it's generally pretty poor for keeping the playtime down.
Does anybody remember the first episode clash on was implemented?
Gosh it must be a couple years at this point

If it bites you, its venomous
If you bite it, its poisonous
For richards deck i wonder if 3 plains and 1 forest would be better because 1 of his tutors requires plains and the ither just generically basics
If Tomer had played Katilda before traverse the outlands, he would've protected himself from his spell doing nothing
