- I'm back from work travel and ended up ordering a new Suhr Standard guitar from Humbucker Music. I wanted to at least give you all an opportunity to share the unboxing with me and hear the reasons why I decided to go with another Standard model.

I bought a 2014 Suhr (came with: Dirty Blonde Lollar-set) and "My tone-search . . . Ended-right-there !!! Phenomenal sounding & playing guitar. The tuning-stability and return-to-pitch is UnReal. oNe LovE from NYC

Awesome guitar! May I ask what kind of deal you got from humbucker? Thinking about getting a standard as well!
Best to just give them a call. They are really easy to work with and it’s been a few months since I bought this one. They are discontinued and only make the standard plus now but I see humbucker still has a few in stock. Stick one in your cart to hold it and you will probably get an email on Monday from one of them asking if you are interested in the guitar. ;-) don’t want to throw out a price here in the comments
FYI I’m selling my other Suhr standard pro faded whale burst. It’s near mint. Check my other videos to see it. Would be similar in cost to what you’d get the standard for new from Humbucker but these have the flame maple tops. The standard pro is not the plus model. If you are interested let me know.
@@GregSummersMusic Thanks for the advice! I really like the options on the standard. Do you know why it was discontinued? You mention it in the video, but is there really no difference from the plus other than mostly aesthetics?

Hey also it'd be cool to see how you upgraded your Suhr with the pickguard and humbucker cover. Where did you buy the parts from?
Jason Park not sure why they discontinued it. Biggest difference is body woods. Standard pro/plus has basswood with a maple cap and the standard is alder. I find the pro (or at least mine) is a little warmer. They both have their strengths
So I'm trying to decide between this and the classic s. How much thinner is the neck on this standard vs the classic s?
It’s a little but thinner. Hard to describe but if it helps, the classic S was just too thick for me but it’s basically like a standard strat neck so if you like that then the classic will be good for you. If you can find a standard plus then it’s the same neck as this regular standard
Very expensive guitar without hard case?🙄
Yea they aint cheap but honestly the gig bags are very nice and I prefer them over a hard case. Some of their newer models are coming with hard cases now...but when you get a hard case with any guitar, that price is in there with the total cost so no company just gives them away without building it in, but no matter how you look at Suhr guitars, they are very expensive, but the build quality is top notch. I've seen this issue on other builders lately as well (PRS being one of them that ships some in softbags)
