SU drum parts really compliment their arrangements. The drum parts support the baselines and help drive the songs. But the key to a groove is the space. The drummers don’t clog the space and leave room to keep a good feel to the songs. I played in marching band and jazz band in NOLA. So most black marching bands don’t use quads. Not saying they are bad because they can work within a style. But SU drummers keep the pocket on lock and play behind the instrumentation. They never sound like they’re playing out of control or over the featured section during parts of the arrangements. Just my opinion!

Crankfest really cleared up some things..... Jackson State is monster....and Brian Simmons is a Clown. Jukebox really miss Jackson, Haymer and you can tell....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Discipline...
But isn't all of SU director like that in a sense? Brian just keeping the tradition going in my opinion.

@@kkpsi04 never said Mr.Jackson did the same thing, but very similar things. Simmons is a lil more extra with it, but it's his personality. U have your right to your opinion, but many people like myself disagree with u.
