Honestly a fit woman who volunteered to fight is a better soldier than an unfit conscript male who doesn't want to be there. Endurance and morale are the most important factors of what makes a good rifleman. That's not to say that we should ease standards for women, but for most infantry roles they're fine. Might even be good for morale to have some women around. The distance from even platonic female contact is one of the hardest things mentally about being in the military.

Also, the attrition rates for bombers were horrific. You basically had no defense except for the ball turret and your fighert escorts.
The issue with battlefield 5 was not that there was women in the game it's that they just threw them in everywhere and dishonored a group of men who infiltrated a heavy water plant. There were women who picked up guns and fought during the war, but for some fucked up reason they refused to use any of that history.

Later, the full video was released and showed the exact opposite. But, until that happened the kids were fair game. They were dragged over the coals in the media, like adults. But people thought it was okay because they were wearing Maga hats. That's pretty much it. There was a defamation lawsuit, and CNN and a few other agencies settled out of court, but they lost the lawsuit against several other agencies. Nothing really came of it. There were no apologies, they just tried to act like the story never happened.

Side note: my mom was a track vehicle mechanic in the army in the 80s and she's more of a man than any of these dooshy podcasters nowadays.

@@matttilley8620 nobody is saying women didn't fight, but to just suddenly include women and stuff in historical settings for the sake of being progressive over actual real history is lame. If the story is about something believable and real like a soviet female sniper, or French resistance woman then cool whatever, but adding some super spy badass woman who just shreds through the battlefield is just virtue signaling gone mad. Like a scary Orwellian style revision of a historical moment for the sake of adding a powerful girl boss that never could have realistically existed in that setting or time. Plus adding a prosthetic arm or leg or whatever she had was just a virtue signal cherry on top I mean come on, they were really hitting the nail on the head there.

That is totally fair, and to criticize someone for not liking it is equivalent to criticizing someone for liking Corey Hart's music. It's all subjective. I love Shane and his material, but to be historically accurate, over 350,000 women served in WW2 in various combat roles including armored units, infantry, bombers, and as snipers, suffering several thousand casualties and with over 11,000 confirmed kills. Granted most of them were Russian who are an entirely different breed, but still, facts.
Side note: my mom was a track vehicle mechanic in the army in the 80s and she's more of a man than any of these dooshy podcasters nowadays.
