SCP-2951 is an abandoned limestone mine near Guthrie, Indiana.
The interior of SCP2951 is subject to irregular spatial and temporal anomalies. Exploratory teams have also reported the existence of unknown anomalous entities within SCP-2951. These entities are likely connected to what is known as the 1944 incident.

My favorite mining story is of the man who was hit on the head and went blind.
Since this was back in the day when miners worked without lights, he simply went on working in the mine.
One day while at work, his eyesight began to return.
"I can see!" he shouted excitedly.
"Calm down," a fellow miner said. "You must be losing your reason. Even if you could see, how would you know it? It's completely dark down here."
"That's just it - I can see darkness!"
An injury to the visual cortex is a terrifying thing to contemplate.

I think I sorta get it. I heard a blind guy once say that he doesn't even see darkness like what you would see when you close your eyes. The best way he could describe it is as what you see out of your elbow, you just can't. So yeah it would be easy to figure out if you're able to see again, even in complete darkness

you can feel your eyes adjust to darkness, so there *is* a difference between knowing it's dark vs your vision going, makes sense. I have MS, I get optic neuritis as a side effect and that feels distinct enough from my vision adjusting to darkness. Can't explain it well, but you can definitely tell the difference.

I really like the CARTOON STYLE of story telling, where they make it cute and a little funny and explain things with funny pictures that are obviously ARTISTIC LICENSE since its not literally how people behave. I wish videos teaching people about history and sociology used this style of story telling because it much more drills into the brain what happened than most other forms of teaching. "Cute, slightly funny CARTOONS of this style is the best teaching tool."

17:01 I remember when my family lost our house to a fire in April 2016. A bad radiator caused a fire in the living room and burned out the wall. It wasn’t just the smoke damage, ash, and soot that scared me. It was what it left. I went in to try and salvage what family heirlooms we could and decided to investigate the small bathroom of the cabin. It was dark. Even in the bright afternoon it was like the abyss itself had swallowed up that place. The smoke and soot covered every inch.
It made you feel like you were being watched by something on the other side. Something that wasn’t satisfied with taking my cats.
I quickly left that room and only went back in when my dad and I stripped the entire cabin down to rebuild it.

Yeah the early industrial revolution was really cruel to workers. Because of monopolies on important goods practically being a new concept they could make any choices they wanted until the government finally caught up with labor laws and minimum wage. It wasn’t just mines, with the factories being more famous with their longer hours in a moderately easier but still backbreaking work that if you lose focus for more than a moment you’ll get crushed in a machine and die. Worse still the Pinkerton detective agency (at the time the biggest private law enforcement organization in the world) had essentially turned its watchful eye from criminals to unions and worked to crush any strikes that might shake the norm. It was a time period that had the nation’s wealth consolidated in the very few, more than ever before and perhaps more than ever sense.

    • @TheSurrealist.
      @TheSurrealist. 2 роки тому +1

Yeah and only reason the government gave a shit is because of unions fighting for the rights of workers. Let’s not pretend the government and business owners bestowed rights to workers out of the “goodness” of their hearts. It took blood, sweat and tears to fight and get what was owed to the hard workers of the early 20th century. Not that you were saying that but people seem to think unions had nothing to do with it.

Oh yeah, absolutely. But the fact that it's a... I don't know what the technical/legal term is, but since it's open to everyone and not directly owned by anyone it makes it really difficult to adapt. Because, well, they can't really make merchandise with it. At least, not in the sense most shows aim towards. Plus the fact that there is no true canon in the universe, makes it hard to please everyone. But, if I make a suggestion, if you want a game inspired by SCP, look into "Control" It's a good game heavily inspired by the SCP mythos, but with its own history and everything. But yeah... a live action series would be awesome though.

Anyone else notice video quality went down like crazy? My guy really reiterates same thing like 10x “miners were under paid, miners worked in harsh conditions and were often paid half, miners then got paid half for double the work today, where they would get paid 2x more”

This story left more questions than answers. I did not fully understand things, like how that anomolous mine was created, how "imposter" agents ended up down there, How someone could be stuck down there for 1000 years and still be alive? Was it a ghost? And if the company that bought the mine was also anomalous was it a company similar to Marshall Carter and Dark?

      - right, I can't believe that kind of thing was tolerated. How parents didn't mob up and execute mining company employees when they saw their broken children baffles me.
