I truly consider Nemophila to be a supergroup. Formed by the singer, she got a top tier guitar, who brought in another top tier guitarist, and they brought in like THE top metal session drummer in Japan, and then Mayu (vocalist) brought in her old friend on bass, and they recorded some songs that took advantage of Mayu's unique and exceptional vocal and scream abilities. But they were so good that they never quit... the band just keeps going... 4 years, 2 albums, tours, constant new cover songs being released.... they just love playing together!
Eyy thanks for checking out Nemophila! They are special and one of many awesome all female Japanese bands. If you do want to check out another from them they just released a new single called RISE or their most popular song Dissension are good ones. Regardless thanks for checking this one out.
Excellent reaction. There's a lot to love about this song and I'm really glad to see how much you appreciate at it as a musician and audio engineer, because I really love the mix on this song. And yes the technicality of this band is top notch. Saki, the guitarist on the right with red hair, is pretty much royalty in Japan. She has her own guitar, the Empress, made by Killer guitars and yes they are both playing 7-strings. The drummer, Tamu Murata, is also a highly sought after session musician. "All female Japanese metal/rock band" is something you're probably going to be saying a lot in the future if you choose to continue down this rabbit hole as there are at least 20 amazing bands I could name off the top of my head and there are even more than that. Just a few bands to get you started that you must see Band-Maid, Hanabie, Lovebites, and you probably already know Babymetal. 🤘🤘
Great reaction and happy Dragon Phly introduced you to this kick ass band. Mayu is one hell of a singer. She has great screams and beautiful cleans. She has a natural rasp too which makes her voice even better. I could go into detail about all the other band members names and all but just one word for them and that is AMAZING. All of them are just great. Got to see them live last month and just so much fun and kick ass. Most their songs are Metal/hard rock but all different. So many different influences you can hear from them. So much old school metal in them too. Some other songs to try from them are RISE which is their newest one. Dissension, REVIVE, also Orian Official live. All of their original stuff is great. They have also done some very good covers for fun over the years too from Maiden and to AC/DC and more. Honestly everything they put out is very good.
and yes, both guitarists always play 7 string guitars. Saki (graffiti on amp) plays "Killer" guitars and is a legendary guitarist formerly from Mary's Blood. Hazuki (beautiful ibanez with amazing inlays) is credited as "technical lead guitarist" because, well, Saki's amazing and godly, but Hazuki does that insane technical stuff also like the 2 hands on the fretboard stuff... and seems totally chill otherwise. Bassist Haraguchi-San is incredible and tied with vocalist Mayu as youngest in the band, while the other 3 are all significantly older legends on their instruments, but skill and talent-wise all five members are totally equal imho.
Nemophila is a band formed by musicians from different bands. They are all excellent musicians. They can do whatever genre they want, mayu has a rich voice to sing many kinds of music, and they do many different styles in their music.🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
Super reaction the ear to ear grin through out said it all LOL .These Ladies are very special and can do any thing .Followed them from the start and they never disappoint my Fave band .And yes there both on 7 strings tuned in standard B two of the best around . Drummer and bass ant bad either LOL The laughing thunder both world class .Toped with Singer Mayu one of the best metal voices right now.
G'day J. Nemophila making their mark - just maturing as a band, but each member bringing a ton of experience. Definitely one of my favourites. The metal scene in Japan is drenched in talent, a lot of it female, I'm sure you'll find a lot to like if you go looking!
welcome to the best of the best! their brilliance comes from extensive respectful influences combined with their own creativity. Now that you have caught fire with the amazing Adabana, prepare for a radiation blast with Raitei & Enten!💥💨🚑 (if you dare)
This isn't one of their faster or more brutal songs but it is pure class and excellence in just about every respect. Nemophila deserve so much more worldwide recognition.

Gacharic Spin, Mindset will push you into a new rabbit hole. It’s difficult to describe the amount of energy this band has. After watching a few live videos you’ll understand what I mean.
Yep, both guitarists play 7 strings (Saki plays Killer, and Hazuki plays Ibanez). Nemophila are badass! I've seen them live twice - first time, lead singer Mayu was 7 months pregnant, and still belting out the fry-screams. They put on a great live show - well worth seeing. Japan has a pretty amazing rock and metal scene, and most of those bands are all-female. Another great all-female Japanese me5al band with twin lead guitarists, Lovebites, just announced their first world tour on New Year's Day - dates and venues TBD. They put on an awesome live show as well, and their lead singer Asami has some pipes on her!
Good job, man. It is definitely worth checking out more of this excellent band. They are mostly metal but they stray into all kinds of territory, rap, punk, pop etc and it's all done well. They do kickass covers too.
Well hey great news, Japan has hundreds of all-female rock bands. It has the most per capita of any country. Now you just fell into a very deep rabbit hole and opened the gate to a flood of suggestions for more all-female Japanese J-Metal/J-Hard Rock bands. Among fans, Nemophila is a top 3 suggestion. Nemophila also do quite a number of cover songs. The second band is Band-Maid which many consider to be the best hard rock band to come in the last 30 years. They have numerous albums and a large catalogue of around 130-140 songs. Its kind of hard to describe their genre because they are their own genre. They are mostly hard rock but have many heavy metal elements with funk, punk, and prog thrown in. Quite a number of their songs are technically complex and throw a wall of sound right at you. This is their 10th anniversary and are celebrating with tours in Japan and also in the U.S. in May and August. They are hitting cities that were not on their very successful 2022 U.S. tour last Oct-Nov. So I suggest you get tickets to see them live now. Now the one above the first two is Lovebites, an all-female Power Metal band that are a modern throw back to 1980s Power Metal. They also do Speed, Thrash, Prog, Symphonic, and sing in English. The talent and technical ability of the members are off the charts. The muscians shame most western muscians. The singer can belt it out and can match Rob Halford which she has done with their cover of Judist Priest's 'Painkiller'. She orginally has an R&B and Soul background and was surprised she could hit higher octaves until after she joined the band. She didn't know Heavy Metal at all when she joined. Also she might be the only former ballerina in all of metal or even rock history. She was a ballerina for most of her childhood until she graduated high school. Their new bassist is a young 20 year old who made it through a massive audition and this is her first professional gig. The drummer is absolutely insane because she is relentless on drums and seem to never tire even though she is only 4'9". And finally the two lead guitarists will blow you away with their technical abilities. They play fast, even faster, and in sync. They shame most male guitarists. One quit a pharmacy university at the age of 20 to learn how to play an electric guitar at a music academy and can now shred with the best. The other is a prodigy who is a concert level classical pianist and has been playing the piano since the age of 3-4 years old. She picked up and self-taught herself to the play the guitar at 17 or 19 years old and can also play the bass and drums. To many long time metalheads who are Lovebites fans swear this is THE best live metal band to also come out in the last 30 years and its criminal that they are not well known. You can include Band-Maid too. Both of these bands sound even better live than their studio releases with no drop offs in quality. There are a few more popular all-female or female fronted J-Metal/J-Rock bands that will be mentioned such as Babymetal, Hanabie, Gacharic Spin, Show-Ya, Unlucky Morpheus, Doll$boxx, Wagakki Band, Broken By the Scream, Paascode, Mary's Blood, Trident, etc.
Nemophila (yes you pronounced it right) were founded in 2019. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.” Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized by Mayu with some help from Saki, largely to keep busy in the early days of the pandemic. They started by posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” ua-cam.com/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/v-deo.html The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” ua-cam.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/v-deo.html After Oiran, others to check include "Dissension", which will fry whatever is left of your circuits: ua-cam.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/v-deo.html and “Raitei”, which means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder: ua-cam.com/video/lh-dVLKP314/v-deo.html More recent drops that showcase their intensity and versatility: “Style” ua-cam.com/video/Aph5GON6rPc/v-deo.html (written by their bassist, Haraguchi-san) “Seize the Fate” ua-cam.com/video/4tpgLyckVYg/v-deo.html “Rise” ua-cam.com/video/rD3VMAm-9iA/v-deo.html Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. She has already written several songs for the group.
