Hey, I was checking out some lake surfing vid's came across this. I was in the heart of my surfing, it was around 2000, I had discovered lake surfing and it was a life time dream to surf. Anyway. I was learning and exploring the lakes, it was not like now but I had ordered some books on great lakes surfing and I spent a few summers exploring the coast. Long story shortened. I had surgery on my knee's, got hooked on pain pills and lost about 6 years of my life, did not go surfing and pretty much did nothing but get high and sit around. I have been clean for about 5 years now. I am so out of shape I am scared to even try right now. So I just wanted to say I am stoked you got sober, started living life, I am old and hope to get it back someday before it is to late.
Love the videos man I live 10 minutes away from you I am a LBI guy but spent most of my childhood on ohau went to school across the street from Ehukai beach park (Pipeline)and lived at the condos at three tables down the road from foodland I am a marine mechanic boats anything to do with the ocean or water I wanted to tell you I did work at Atlantic City All Marine across the street from the AC high school or rt 30 south end coming out of the city and have been a surfer here my adult life and it is super cool to see someone who has beat their demons to get where they are supposed to be I am a guy who had always lived clean and up until recently I have been dealing with my father who stared me surfing on LBI at 5 years old is starting to become very iLL and I have turned to self medication and don't want to be that person but watching and hearing what you had said about getting clean makes me want to break out my 10'0 Driftwood designs longboard and get back into my first love SURFING I have years at Makaha and the north shore as well as our home here in south jersey anyway thank you for the positive wishes within all of you videos and if you ever feel the need to talk to a fellow south jersey surfer with a 20 + year history of Hawaii as well I can be found on Facebook at Jason Baginski
