This show is a definite nostalgia trip...I learned more about geography from this show and these games than I ever did from my school (which is absolutely an indictement on my local school system). Seriously tho, this was a well-executed show for the time.
I find it hilarious that any smartphone would be better than the prizes awarded here. (Obviously, they did not have them in the 90s, but I was laughing when the chief was describing the two-way communication device at 21:24 .)
Is it just me, or did Daniel get hosed? He SPRINTED back and forth and knew all of the locations! Yes, he had to try twice for Taiwan, but there was no way that he could get all 8 done in 45 seconds! He was picking up the markers from the north pole, for crying out loud!
Matthew Gary he got duped. There is no way he could pull that off, shame cause he would of got it if they fairly have him more time. Just to cheap to pay for his trip lol
The Asia map is such bullshit, since I dont think a kid at that age can be physicaly fast enough to put down every marker, more so that the marker always takes a second to go off even if you get it right
I remember watching this when I was little and never knowing the answers. Gotta love my public school education! Some of the questions are still mildly challenging...
I wish I was born in this era sometimes...I hear everyone talking about their nostalgias..I would give ANYTHING to sing that ending sound with the crowd!!!
I loved this show; a mix of diversity, both in guests and those appearing on the show, can tell there was loads respect shown, and the "bad guy" was a savvy woman of mistery with a Latin last name! Even when the show host trips up, day and age where no one laughed at him - just let him move on. Very upbeat. Advanced hilarity for kids for its time, instructional and they definitely had fun!
Interesting tidbit: Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler (Sheldon's girlfriend/wife) on the Big Bang Theory, was also a contestant on Carmen Sandiego in the show's second season in 1992. It was a 'Special Celebrity Edition' of the show: as a teenager at the time (being on the show Blossom), she, Tatyana Ali (from Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and Jeremy Miller (from Growing Pains) were each paired up with regular contestants to compete. Here is the episode: ua-cam.com/video/9XjzOL8YHXw/v-deo.html
Oh, my gosh. I remember this tv series very well. I was, like, 10 going on 11 years old when this show came out.............and I passed all of my Geography tests with flying colors. I especially loved it when Carmen was caught, and the sound of the bars coul;d be heard when she was put into jail. This show was the bomb!!!!!!! I remember this show really well.
Always felt bad for the kids who got the Asia or Africa map for the final segment. "Is that Vietnam or Thailand?" "Crap I don't know where Sierra Leone is!"
Was thinking the same thing.. to win he needs 8 right in 45 seconds.. assuming he gets them all.. he needs to do each one in 5.5 seconds. Thats crazy... the cheap fucks just didnt want to fork over a trip.
Seriously. You need a few seconds just to make sure the marker is on the right area, let alone that they have to jog across the map, which also takes precious time.
The Asia map was freakin' huge. They had to remove part of the audience whenever it was Asia, just to fit the map. There's no way a kid could run fast enough to cover all of that ground in 45 seconds.
I think it would be great. The shows they have on now just aren't as good, I'd love to be able to share these shows with kids. I'm not sure if anyone remembers Puzzle Place, but that could be on there, and Lamb Chops.
I had just moved from Indiana to Minnesota and watched this almost religiously when I stayed with my relatives. Good times.... RIP Lynne Thigpen.
This show should come back. Even in reruns you still learn something
This just returned me to my childhood for a little while. I'm 36 now, wish I could go back......

This is how I homescool my kids they remember everthing
This episode was recorded the day Disney's "Pocahontas" opened in theaters. I had just turned 10.

Teaching American kids geography... Miss this show!
There's a Netflix remake
not like this though!
never see that coming
good challenging show for kids. We need more stuff like this back on tv.
Wow! This takes me back! I haven't seen this show in over 16 years. I'm amazed how much of it I remember.
Damn! I thought for sure the kid was gonna find Carmen at the end, I loved this show when I was younger, and apparently still do!
This just confirms that after 20 years, I am still stupid. Perfect. My University degrees can be burned now.
that was tough at the end. 45 seconds to do all that? you have to be absolutely perfect.
I find it hilarious that any smartphone would be better than the prizes awarded here. (Obviously, they did not have them in the 90s, but I was laughing when the chief was describing the two-way communication device at 21:24 .)
childhood memories. I love the show.. makes sense!
me to
I love Rockapella. Excellent theme song and game show

He did. He was cheated. I watched this show everyday as a kid and never noticed that.
I remember watching this when I was little and never knowing the answers. Gotta love my public school education! Some of the questions are still mildly challenging...
This brings back so many childhood memories..Like if you agree
I have never seen this and I like it so much!!
Wow so many memories. I remember hating the show Uh-Oh! because it didn't live up to this.
Twenty seconds of pencorder! Amazing!
I wish I was born in this era sometimes...I hear everyone talking about their nostalgias..I would give ANYTHING to sing that ending sound with the crowd!!!

Lol, Kneemoi from the planet Roddenberry?? The things I didn't pick up on as a kid. HA!
is it only me or no one else can hear that ultrasonic sound that those old TV machines make which is cool and rare in a way that this video make too
I'd rather watch this then the Big Bang theory any day. Infact anything but that show, but this show brings me back.

Oh man brings back memories. I remember always being really nervous during the maps haha
I loved, this show as a kid.
Always felt bad for the kids who got the Asia or Africa map for the final segment. "Is that Vietnam or Thailand?" "Crap I don't know where Sierra Leone is!"
Oh god... Carmen's Bankroll is made possibly by viewers like us... We are responsible for all of those thefts! I am so ashamed...
Loved that show when I was little. :0)
25:25 the time Color Me Badd appeared on "Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego"
holy crap the memories!!!!
You have to have the speed of Usain Bolt and the brains of Da Vinci to do that in 45 seconds. Damn. I don't remember it being that hard.
Harsh man, but do-able.
Was thinking the same thing.. to win he needs 8 right in 45 seconds.. assuming he gets them all.. he needs to do each one in 5.5 seconds. Thats crazy... the cheap fucks just didnt want to fork over a trip.
WVURxMan actually I’ve seen at least one person win, so it isn’t impossible
I am here because I was watching the series in Netflix
cool show. I watch it everyday
I agree with you on the ratings. The kids I looked after in 2012 were on youtube and the internet more than TV.

It must have been so cool to be a contestant on this show.

They just don't make'em like this anymore :(... R.I.P. Chief!

Seriously. You need a few seconds just to make sure the marker is on the right area, let alone that they have to jog across the map, which also takes precious time.
I think Daniel tried a Sean Connery accent at 5:26
Haha, he did 😆
He did and did great at it for a kid his age at the time
Man so many memories
Thumbs up if you're still yelling answers at the T.V....or computer screen in 2012...lol
i used to watch this....a lot.
I loved the little rap about Scotland. I'm determined to find another rap song that mentions the great Robert Burns.
Rockapella... MUSICAL MAGIC. these guys were always great!
Acme, triangle logo, and Rocafeller singing group. We have seen this all too often.
Lol Greg lee as Phil the barber sounds like Larry the cable guy lol I love this show
But I don't remember anyone ever getting carmen I believe it was impossible
his barber voice reminds me of the mayor from Doug
i love his hat
The Asia map was freakin' huge. They had to remove part of the audience whenever it was Asia, just to fit the map. There's no way a kid could run fast enough to cover all of that ground in 45 seconds.
oh my god. i wanted one of those secret senders so bad when i was a kid!!! ahhhh
I watched this every afternoon after school. Then Bill Nye came on.
^=^ I remember this from when I was just a baby!
Omg so young!
omg my fav show from my chilhood
i'm sure it was for the kids in New york (they were the only ones eligable to be on the show)
45 seconds was really difficult for anyone to win the final round. loved this show though!
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Psalms 119:9
Was this shot with a 3d camera?
+Strong Free Spielberg got on that shit and combined it with special VHS effects.
I wanted one of those coats when I was a kid lol
The Acme Secrete Sender is basically a smart phone from the 1990s. Texting old school style.
RIP Lynne Thigpen.
i was in the same classes with Ola in elementary school
Phil the Barber at 2:42 - that voice is so distinctly famous. Who was he? What cartoon?
Dance day? Chief, fuckin' Kneemoi is still out there with the God damned loot and you're concerned with dance day? How did you get your fucking job?
You know what day it is? God plz no not that. Its dance day! NOooooooooooooooo!

Don't get too excited, Seymour.
I think it would be great. The shows they have on now just aren't as good, I'd love to be able to share these shows with kids. I'm not sure if anyone remembers Puzzle Place, but that could be on there, and Lamb Chops.
Do I need my 3D glasses for this?
I got to try that. It would be awesome

Yes, the schedule was the same for me.
