- After her successful run last week on the ACE, LMS Jubilee no. 45596 Bahamas would once again tackle the Devon Banks. This time it was the South Devon Explrer to Plymouth which meant she had another opportunity to tackle Whiteball, Dainton, and Hemerdon having done that in 2021 on The Royal Duchy. Compared to last year's South Devon Explorer with 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, the weather was pretty much the same, but the load for Bahamas was one coach less than the Duchess due to load restrictions up the Devon Banks.
The prospects looked good as I ventured to my first shot at Beambridge on Whiteball Bank. I arrived in good time and at one stage she was early, however, she was held at Taunton for other trains to pass. She was 5 minutes late but she sounded superb on the first big test of the day in preparation for Dainton. I got to Stoneycombe on Dainton Bank thinking I had plenty of time, but Bahamas was very early after avoiding a pathing stop at Dawlish Warren and as a result, she was over 15 minutes early. I got ready just in time to see Bahamas sounding amazing through the curve powering up Dainton Bank with her 3 cylinder beat sounding marvellous.
I arrived at Hemerdon Bridge straight away to get to my shot on the bridge and just as well as the area is badly overgrown. I spent hours waiting for her with my mates hoping she can put on a breathtaking performance up Hemerdon and she did just that. She can be heard powering through the woods on Hemerdon Bank, and she came round the curve and sounded brilliant. Amazingly, the roadbridge would be busy with cars, but hardly any cars passed through at all which meant you can be hear the amazing sound of the Jubilee in full control up Hemerdon Bank and sounding absolutely incredible. After Hemerdon, my final shot was near Pugham Farm on her return up Whiteball. She was a few minutes late, but she sounded off the day in style with the sun gleaming on the beautiful engine as she powered her way through the countryside up Whiteball Bank before finishing her duties at Taunton completing a brilliant day for me and showing why 45596 Bahamas is one of the finest engines on the mian line at this present time.

Was good to catch up with you at hemerdon. Great shots mate.
Lovely to see and hear her in full throat and without a diesel at the rear.
Fantastic footage. Thank you for sharing.
Great stuff. Sound and vision.
Super nice video Alex :)
This is definitely full steam ahead for Bahamas.
Thats definitely double chimney Castle performance, and certainly superior to a single chimney Castle - and remember, it was originally classified 5XP
They’re all great clips and i look ok google maps to try and find them and no avail!
